Thanks for creating this positive video about your experience. I was on the inaugural in a Cabana Mini-Suite and love the new Sun Princess. Yes, it is certainly different! That is what makes it so special. Several people on my cruise posted videos trashing Princess because the theater wasn't ready. However, the Cruise Director staff went to great lengths trying to keep everybody entertained throughout the cruise. I've never been so busy on any other cruise. We already booked in the same cabin for January in the Caribbean - can't wait. The elevators were amazing.
I love the staff feeding you in the buffet, I've seen to many people lick or put their fingers in food. I also love the smart elevator system.
The fact that the EAstery is a full service is spectacular from a health standpoint. Open buffets just spread all sorts of flu, covid etc. . Good for princess

Thanks for the video! We're on the 8 April sailing and I was able to book Spellbound on the app today. There were more timeslots available though - every 20 minutes from 17:00 to 20:00 is available to book but only on a shared table. Not sure if that's just because I booked for 2 people and it is limited in terms of the number of people for the experience, but we'll see - I booked it just for my parents for their wedding anniversary and I'm sure they'll enjoy it!

Great video! The clips you incorporated were so helpful and well done! I have heard vloggers report that some new ships (Icon) have higher food budget during initial media voyages so the food isn't necessarily reflective of the typical experience. I know Princess food is usually fantastic anyway but do you know if that occurred on this ship too?
Yes, media people are treated with special care and attention... It would be funny if ALL passengers "dressed up" as You Tubers, Tok Tokers, etc. and carried the proper props like ring light, cameras or phones on selfie sticks, wireless microphones... Then what?

Great video. Do they have Indian food section at buffet?
Well that was a smart way to get people to come back. Have things not ready. Miss the things you wanted to experience and come back spending even more money than you did the first time. The vibe is new age. Like others have said, it’s larger and different. IMO, It has lost its down to earth kind of warm and cozy vibe that the other Princess ships are known for as soon as you board. Some will love and embrace it. So will feel sad because the Princess ship you knew will exist no more. This is the future and there is no changing back.
Just back home from the ship as well! I agree with everything you said in this video.. Except we never had a chance for Spellbound, which was VERY disappointing to me as it's one of the things I was most looking forward to. Unfortunately, there's SO MUCH stuff still not working on the ship. If they know so much of the production shows aren't going to be ready, then they should not sell the cruise with those expectations.
My kids were pretty bored after the first 4 or 5 days. The Aft elevators are a hidden secret between floors 8 and 17.
What I’m wondering about with the kids I have a grandson that’s will be six in December and we’re going gonna be bored with this type of ship

Great question. Horizons is the new main dining room at the back of the ship. It is not a buffet. It’s a three level main dining experience with the top being kind of like a casual diner.

Yes, sun Princess does have laundry for guests. In fact, when I was on, it was still free. I’m not sure if they had not set up these swipe system yet, but there was no way to pay for it. Even the detergent was free. Let’s see if that lasts.

Question about the Smart Elevator: Will this technology discourage or eliminate kids from pressing all the buttons and running?

Is the casino open 24/7 when not in port?
Santorini canceled due to tender boats? I guess it was due to the cable car being out of service in Santorini. They say it will be available from the end of March. I hope so, we will be on a cruise from April 8th!
I heard about that cable car issue too, but we were told that it was something to do with the tenders. Interesting, huh?
The cruise is scheduled to touch Santorini next Sunday. We'll see if they divert to Crete again...

I usually sail on the Discovery Princess. I agree with the OPs comments, and overall think they did a great job with the Sun Princess, however, I strongly disagree that the Eatery is an improvement. Why? 1) It takes longer to get food now as lines have to be formed comprised of diners that take a while to figure out what they want. I like to get in and out. 2) Less food options. There seemed to be far more food options on the Discovery. 3) Repetitive food options every single night. Gets boring. 4) Having to ask the servers for more dressing/gravy etc. gets annoying. I prefer to self-serve. 5) The quality of the food didn’t seem as good: lamb and fish looked and tasted undercooked. 6) The seating area seems smaller and is often full. This ship has the most cruisers onboard than any other Princess ship. I’m not sure what the designers were thinking.
I am far from the only person who feels this way, as many other people I met felt the exact same way. There is a reason so many people seem to be flooding the international cafe for food (which is located near the entrance to the Eatery) and the staff in the international cafe seem pretty stressed.
Outside of this one gripe, I loved everything else, and have booked another.
That makes perfect sense, and honestly, as the cruise went on- I tended to avoid the eatery myself when I was on the ship. I prefer to get in and out just as you said. Thank you so much for your comment and have a wonderful wonderful week!!
The The elevators are similar to the ones on the Carnival panorama. I found it difficult when I’m on my scooter, my mobility scooter, getting an elevator in those elevators. And there’s a problem. If you’re visually impaired and deaf there’s no way for you to get around without someone guiding you my dad is partially blind and he’s deaf and we had a real big problem on the panorama meantime. He pretty much had to stay up in his room until I was there to take him around. But on the other ships he’s been on and the one we’re going on in April the crown Princess he has no problem with it so I’m wondering how does someone help themselves get around on this ship.?

Yes, Princess is excellent at accommodating special diets. You should approach the headwaiter and maître D on day one and let them know. Exactly exactly what your requirements are. They should provide you with a special menu each day.
I heard smoking is allowed in the Casino, is it super smoky in there or ventilated well? Does it apply in all areas of the Casino?
Yes, it was very smoky in there. In fact, if you want to avoid it, you should probably go up one deck and walk around it. It’s one of those casinos that you have to walk through to get to certain venues. But there is a workaround.

Obviously the ship was released to early why would anyone want to to pay to be on a cruise that isn’t complete unless you are getting a free cruise

Smoking in 3 areas that I noticed. Back of the ship on Deck 8 Starboard by the bar, Front of the ship near the bar past the Dome, and 1/2 of the casino.
