  • The Sun Princess cabin areas that might be of concern to some cruisers. The Cabana cabins, deck 9 cabins forward, some large balcony corner cabins, and the problem with the cabin hallway on deck 9 becoming an Interstate Highway. Also a complete tour of cabin 12262, a deluxe balcony cabin.

    Wow... thanks so much for this video. This has made SO much of a difference in what cabin we were going to pick... We almost picked a room directly above that cabana deck with ZERO privacy and no view straight down to the water.... You saved us a lot of disappointment!! We are going to do a cove balcony on deck 6. Quieter, more private, better views and actually cheaper as well! thank you!!

    Very happy with deck 6 balcony, not huge but excellent amenities and great little balcony with privacy and near to water, highly recommended.

    Your video prompted us to move up one more deck from our mid-forward Deluxe Balcony #11260 to #12260 for a little more privacy, more distance from hubbub of cabana deck and better view/vista of ocean. We had concerns after watching some other videos, but yours solidified it for us. Thank you.

    I occupied Cabana Mini-Suite 9307 on your cruise and never found traffic or noise in the corridor to be a problem. The Eatery does get crowded at breakfast, but this is the same situation on any cruise ship I’ve ever sailed. We chose a Cabana Mini because of the beautiful Cabana deck and were not disappointed. We met several of our “neighbors” and enjoyed drinks together in the hot tub. Obviously, if you want total seclusion this area is not for you, but it does offer a less crowded space for lounging in the sun. My wife enjoy reading and watching tv in the separate sunroom, while I slept in several mornings. We enjoyed it so much that we got the same cabin again in January. Can’t wait!

      So glad you enjoyed your cabin. I imagine there must be many more cruisers who share your feelings for Princess to have made this design choice. Although I fall into the "wants total seclusion" category, it makes me happy to know that Princess really was trying to cater to the desires of its passengers. Cheers!

    Thank you so much for your videos. I had two Owner Suites booked for my family on the August 3rd Barcelona cruise to Rome sailing, which you can imagine is not cheap. Both on the 10th level. I saw this video and decided to change to the 16th floor with the other suites and as a bonus I see they are pretty close to the Signature lounge which I'm sure my husband will appreciate not having to travel too far to go for drinks every 10 minutes! Thanks again!

    The balconies on the inset areas are bigger/deeper than the previous ships.
    But the cabins on the bump-out areas seem to be about the same size as those small Royal Class balconies.
    I do not want to be set THAT far back from the sea while cruising... We have chosen a smaller, more shallow, so that we will not be set that far back.
    You are right that the balconies close to those elongated open balconies would not have any privacy, not when anyone with the extra long balcony is out there.
    However, there is the small inset part of the elongated balconies, same size as the standard balconies next to it, that would be covered and private.

    Very good points.
    The small "cabanas" offer shade and privacy (but no views). The divided decks do not. I don't see how this could have been designed better, especially for the "price point."
    Also, there are security cameras everywhere.

      I would personally love that location. Very quiet and private. We have stayed in the most forward balcony room on the Sky Princess and would choose that area every time if possible. It is a longer walk to everything but we always felt we needed the exercise! You’ll feel like you’re on a private yacht. We have cancelled our 12/7 cruise on the Sun but will still sail her on 12/14. It has nothing to do with the ship and everything to do with the way Princess corporate handled our entire Sun Princess experience. I would have cancelled the 12/14 as well, but we have the cruise credits that have to be used. I book ed a HAL 12 day on December 2 as a replacement cruise. It will be our 2nd HAL cruise. I hate to say it, but I will probably not sail Princess again until upper management changes (other than 12/14).

      @@rexdillinger ok great thanks for your input on the room! I am sorry to hear that you would not sail princess again but I get it. We were kinda on the fence about Sun since it's a different class of ship. We love Sky and this new one is totally not like it at all. It's seems like catch by rudi (loved on Sky) location is like an after thought and they just threw it into the back of the buffet area. We are going to go thru with the back to back and see but will probably go back to Sky or any in that class. We will see ya on the 14th sailing then!! Thanks for answering! Have a great day!!

    There are some reserve collection cabana that do not overlook or are right on the cabana reserve private deck. We will be in one on deck nine, so close access to the deck, but does not open onto the deck. 9329

    The eatery on deck 9 is my biggest complaint about the Sun. My daughter has mobility issues so we book by the forward elevators. Well now that we have full deck plans I realized that it's going to be a huge challenge because we can't get from the forward elevators to the eatery without going down cabin hallways. These are not wide enough to navigate easily. We will be on the Sun for 21 days and can see us eating on the Lido a lot.

    • @rexdillinger
      @rexdillinger  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Only real option is to go down to 8 and then move to the aft elevators to go up a floor. It’s a little inconvenient, but does provide a solution.

    • @travelingbeyondboundaries
      @travelingbeyondboundaries 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rexdillinger thanks! That's what we were thinking too. Did you find the buffet closing to be inconvenient? Another line we cruise has hours and we hate that so we've always loved that Princess had a section of the buffet open all the time. I'm guessing because of the way they have it set up, plus the other food options on the Lido, but wondering if those on board have had any issue with it.

    Thanks for this video it's so helpful. We have upcoming cruise on Deck 9 (9211). I am thinking it's location will avoid the heavy traffic areas, hopeful. Have couple of concerns 1) the full height glass panel on the deck and 2) outside area of deck seems to be viewable from decks above. Also, 9211 is located just above Princess Arena, will there be noise issue with this? Any comments to help would be great. thanks!!

      The full glass is a bout personal preference. I like leaning over and looking down at the ocean. Don’t think a full glass will allow that. It should give you more wind protection though. And a part of your balcony will be visible from above, but only part.

  • @Patonick
    @Patonick 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    You are incorrect about the extra large balconies. They have the same amount of privacy as the regular balcony because of the same size wall as regular balconies. They just go beyond the wall and that area is not private but opened to the rest of the ship. In the video I saw there were two regular chairs in the private area that you can't see in your video, then the 2 lounge chairs that you can see. I have one of those rooms booked.
