I cried during the whole video because I have experienced this extremely dangerous life first hand, as I come from one of these deadliest towns in Honduras. I totally understand what it is to became blind, deaf and dumb as a safety mechanism. My heart aches for Honduras and my family that still over there 💔😭 And as you mentioned before, the sweet, positive attitude from honduran...they keep a welcoming smile despite the circumstances they endure on a daily basis. Many charities are filled to the brim with corruption, and funds pass through many hands before they get to the people it's meant to help, if it gets to them at all. The best way to help is by supporting education efforts in the country and propping up the children, because they are the best and perhaps only chance Honduras has to make it. And most importantly, tell people about us. Tell them we exist.
Journalism would be as objective as possible. But what I don’t like about the series from Honduras is he doesn’t interview any women and ask them the exactly same questions. Also, not blurring interviewees faces out them in danger. So they cannot really speak openly about their life. Journalists would be more responsible and objective

That’s awesome. I’m german and we forget to easily what a huge privilege that is. Germany also has its problems as well but I have never ever felt unsafe and that is privilege! Running and clean water, enough money to live, a roof over my head and comfy bed. What do have to actually complain about? Videos like this make you realize that stuff so I think it’s a great way to teach children to be grateful. Sounds like your doing a good job
If I had to pay extortion just to exist, had lost my wife, son and even daughter to such preventable things that just didn’t need to happen and then your home is destroyed by 2 hurricanes I’d be painting my walls with the inside of my skull before the mud had dried. I have gone through a lot in my life but I simply wouldn’t be able to handle losing so many loved ones. The fact he puts a smile on his face and keeps on going is just insanity to me. Thank god he is who he is.
He has 2 grandchildren to take care of. If I was him, that might be the only thing keeping me alive. At this point, I'd assume those grandchildren are his life.
People are so much more durable than we give them credit for. That’s how most the world is. We just live in pampered soft societies where using common pronouns might cause someone to murder themselves.

I come from a poor town of Honduras, I was born in San Pedro Sula. I left Honduras 11 years ago to live in Canada and my country doesn’t change at all, it becomes worst. I used to swim in those muddy waters, catching those little fish like those kids and I was the happiest kid ever and everybody around me was too and now that I see this it’s just sad to me.
How unfair to all of you that you cannot live in your native country and be happy in your native land. Rotten politicians have no right to be in power.
So cool to see this channel grow over time. You're success is a reflection of the places that you've all taken us and the stories you have shared. Through that, we've all been so enriched, thank you!

I’ve always said, if the life of me and those I love depended on it, I’d do whatever I had to do to save us. People who look down on that are lucky that they’ve never had to experience such things. Honduras looks beautiful. It would be wonderful if it became prosperous and safe for the people who live there so they didn’t have to suffer or flee. But as long as it isn’t safe, it’s understandable why people feel forced to leave to save their families.

You should travel to My parent's village Santa Rosa de Aguan and to Trujillo to show the differences in how minorities in the country live and the cultural differences in the country. They are full of Garifuna people who would love to tell you their stories and share their experiences with the world. Our tribe lives very peacefully compared to the rest of the country and are very proud of that.
I'm from Honduras raised in USA. I agree with you. I always say if I go to Honduras to visit Im going where all the garifuna people are at. Everything else over there is just ruled by gang members.

It brings a lot of different emotions and mixed feelings to see that not much have changed. The corruption and gang activity is horrible. Not that long ago I traveled back home and had a very bad experience unfortunately. I Just pray that someday peace will come to Honduras. But thank you for sharing the true reality of Honduras.
These videos are always a great insight into different countries. The one thing that all these places have in common is the fight in the people. They go through so much and still have the drive to keep building and moving on with their lives. Stay safe.

The thing is, poverty is statistically concerning in Honduras, but pragmatically, you have people with good land (until recently, climate change has affected their crops) for food, lots of water to use, and a relatively simple access to urban areas, as it is an uncentralized country. In other words, international statistics portray a war zone-like Honduras, but it is pragmatically no different from other Latin countries like Perú or Ecuador.
@@mpleandre I lived there and I beg to differ. There are fewer safe areas with than not. There are very safe areas but they are tiny pockets within specific barrios.

My aunt's house and farm was devastated by the hurricane Iota. (She even tried to saved the farm and her animals, but unfortunately she slip and fell, this cause her a big wound on her head. She was old, and eventually died.) This hurricanes were a horrible experience that me and my family had to experience. But thank-fully we are okay now, in a decent house, everything is back to normal. The only thing that's missing is my aunt 💔.
I applaud you for putting out these videos. These are places most of us will never go. I am so appreciative of you. Wish I had even an ounce of your courage to go into some of these places. Thank you for showing us the humanity of the people who have to live this on a daily and still find the courage to function and get by. I got so depressed after a couple of years of talking to the kids so when I saw your face when you were talking about them not getting an education, I instantly knew that feeling and recognized it.

Even if I live in a neighbor country we don't get a lot of news from Honduras. I hope people understand how hard they struggle to survive and understand the reason for the migration. It is not for fun, those are people who lost everything and even if they lost it all, they continue fighting. Only love and respect para mis queridos hondureños.

I just got back from a 2 year service mission in Honduras. I lived here in Chamelecón for 4.5 months (January to May this year). This video is incredible, thank you for making it, represents well the life style.
Thanks as always. I was an English teacher to unaccompanied minor students that came from the Northern triangle countries of Central America. Poverty or violence or both was always the reason for the exit. Sad stories. Resilient people. I’ve always said, if the life of me and those I love depended on it, I’d do whatever I had to do to save us. People who look down on that are lucky that they’ve never had to experience such things.
Honduras looks beautiful. It would be wonderful if it became prosperous and safe for the people who live there so they didn’t have to suffer or flee. But as long as it isn’t safe, it’s understandable why people feel forced to leave to save their families.

You should travel to My parent's village Santa Rosa de Aguan and to Trujillo to show the differences in how minorities in the country live and the cultural differences in the country. They are full of Garifuna people who would love to tell you their stories and share their experiences with the world. Our tribe lives very peacefully compared to the rest of the country and are very proud of that.

It brings a lot of different emotions and mixed feelings to see that not much have changed. The corruption and gang activity is horrible. Not that long ago I traveled back home and had a very bad experience unfortunately. I Just pray that someday peace will come to Honduras. But thank you for sharing the true reality of Honduras.
These videos are always a great insight into different countries. The one thing that all these places have in common is the fight in the people. They go through so much and still have the drive to keep building and moving on with their lives. Stay safe.

The thing is, poverty is statistically concerning in Honduras, but pragmatically, you have people with good land (until recently, climate change has affected their crops) for food, lots of water to use, and a relatively simple access to urban areas, as it is an uncentralized country. In other words, international statistics portray a war zone-like Honduras, but it is pragmatically no different from other Latin countries like Perú or Ecuador.
@@mpleandre I lived there and I beg to differ. There are fewer safe areas with than not. There are very safe areas but they are tiny pockets within specific barrios.

My aunt's house and farm was devastated by the hurricane Iota. (She even tried to saved the farm and her animals, but unfortunately she slip and fell, this cause her a big wound on her head. She was old, and eventually died.)
This hurricanes were a horrible experience that me and my family had to experience. But thank-fully we are okay now, in a decent house, everything is back to normal. The only thing that's missing is my aunt 💔.
I applaud you for putting out these videos. These are places most of us will never go. I am so appreciative of you. Wish I had even an ounce of your courage to go into some of these places. Thank you for showing us the humanity of the people who have to live this on a daily and still find the courage to function and get by. Thank you for showing us the struggles, hardships but also the love and care of the people of these communities. Please continue doing what you do and bringing a light and an understanding of the people in these hard hit places.

The stories are brutal so please, if you need to speak to someone about what you saw and experienced, seek help. I got so depressed after a couple of years of talking to the kids so when I saw your face when you were talking about them not getting an education, I instantly knew that feeling and recognized it.

Even if I live in a neighbor country we don't get a lot of news from Honduras. I hope people understand how hard they struggle to survive and understand the reason for the migration. Poverty or violence or both was always the reason for the exit. Sad stories. Resilient people.
