It was also nonsense, The puritans were theocratic. Their reign of terror was ended, thankfully.

"A secular government will never be a limited government."
1775: government protects rights of conscience
2021: government protects violations of conscience

Ya know? I think it’s somewhat humorous that people who don’t like what’s being said they stop listening, and be sure to give a thumbs down...👎 but, when you don’t like truth, that’s tough! ...

Excellent speech!!! Not to nit-pick, but I must disagree with one statement at about 20:45. "You don't answer to government for what you do." One does not answer to government for what he thinks or for what he says, but he MUST answer to government for what he does, when what he does is a violation of the law. Please see www.renewamerica.com/columns/weaver/100206, under "Third:".

In Europe at the time you realise the founding fathers left England because of the church ruling government.

      Interesting.
Corrupt church? leading to divorce from church.
Also at the time the English King and government were acting tyrannical, taxing the US colonies, more and more, to fund wars elsewhere, and when the colonies said no, no taxation without representation, England sent troops instead. Hence the Revolution.
So a new Constitution took this into consideration, declaring that human rights and freedoms are to be protected from tyranny.

@thewhynot: Actually, it was the Government (the King) who could tell the Church (Anglican/Church of England) what was to be considered “Holy.”

Poor Dave. If only he could get the Biblical version of God to Resurrect Jefferson the nations problems would be solved! It might take a day or two to bring old Tommy up to speed on a few changes that have happened since the simple times he lived in, but if Dave Barton thinks what worked that long ago would still work today, then why doesn't Dave give the Biblical God a call and see iwhat can be done about getting Jefferson back for a while?

it works because the people and the rights which God has instituted are still, (and will always be,) the same. What we are experiencing is a great falling away from a moral and upright way, where everyone does what is right in his own eyes, and absolute truth has been abandoned for the relativism of personal irresponsibility.

    • @walterwhite7554
      @walterwhite7554 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Michael P An interesting idea, and yet modern man generally speaking is more moral than those who lived in Bible times, or even say 1,000 years ago.
If you take off your Bible-colored glasses for a second and take an honest look at how Christians and people in general behaved 500 years ago I think you would see more progress than any falling away. :)
As funny thing about seeing this great "falling away to bad morals: is that Christians have been saying that century after century now for 2,000 years. History tells us the early Christians expected the End Times and Jesus to return within their own generation as Jesus had told them, and century after century afterward the Christians have been seeing wars and rumors of wars, having visions and seeing signs, and seeing a wickedness in the world like never before.
I absolutely agree with you that people have become much more competent to do what is right in their own eyes according to their own natural human spirit and the common sense morality that mankind has always had, even long before any magic invisible gods were created. I've never needed a magic Allah to tell me how to be a decent person, or have to threaten me with imaginary hell for me to know how to live my life. I commit all the crimes I want to, and I kill all the people I choose to, and I rape and steal all I want to, and I hurt as many people as I choose to!
And the number of crimes and other harmful things I choose to do is ZERO. That's because I am a grown up responsible for my own actions and their consequences. I'm far from perfect of course! But the truth is that we all live our lives by relative morality depending on the individuals and circumstances. That is how things are judged in Courtrooms every day of course.
      .
In my mind when a person has good sense and morals to do things as they see fit according to their own eyes that more often indicates they are very responsible indeed.
I have no idea what "absolute" truth could be. Truth is truth and like pregnancy you either have it or you don't. peace
