I will stay tuned to your channel, as long as it doesn't blow my m240i warranty...😮
Great minds think alike! My 24’ in Melbourne Red should be here by end of month, can’t wait!
Thanks for the comparison Allen, and I love all the little improvements made to 2024 model. Do you know if 2023 model can get a software upgrade to ID8.5 to show those little changes (e.g., sprint mode display and temp manual displaying D1, D2 stuff)?
I'm almost certain iDrive8.5 will not be available over the air for 2er, 3er and 4er based on what I'm seeing across 2024 models
I think the dash is updated as well; i've a 2023 and the font, for example, has changed since i got it last summer
Really like your content! I just got my 2023 M240i Mineral White after a 5 month wait! I’m only at 150 miles. How much do you follow break-in guidelines? I’ve been very careful, but I know some people think break-in is overrated and you should just drive it like you normally would. Thoughts?
Thank you for watching! When it comes to German cars, I follow the instructions lol
the engine wont let you abuse it unti it reaches a certain mile mark. the ecu is calbrated to for its own break in procedure, just drive it!
It is crazy to me that the 2022 comes with more features. The only thing that the 2024 has over the others is the 48v battery. Outside of that, the 2022 is much better.
Does this thing come with the 48V mild hybrid system of the 3 and 4 series? I haven’t seen that confirmed anywhere.
Everyone taking delivery isn’t having it on their car. Not sure when or if they’ll start including it
lol there is 48V mild hybrid system in 2024 BMW M240i in Canada, as far as I know its only on the diesel G42 in other markets
Hey Allen. Do you think an October 2023 build M340i will come with idrive 8.5
I doubt it, it will likely have something like the M240i where the instrument cluster is iDrive8.5 but the center display is iDrive8
You missed the subtle darkening of colour to rear lights, exhaust tips and the braces seen when active radiator vents open.
I noticed those in the UK market and the removal of passenger seat memory settings as well as coin holder near steering wheel.
That last removal was really annoying as now coins rattle in centre console.
tail lights didn't change in tint in Canada, coin holder was remove in 2023 from 2022 in our market, I have another video about those differences. I don't think we ever had passenger seat memory here
Do the panels in the doors keep changing color as wanted in the 2024 versión? Or it is stuck into those “M” colors?
If you have m illuminated highlighters they are always m colours. If you don't you can change the colour
Can you please check the model # of the ID head unit to see if this is ID8.5 capable? MGU22, MGU21, MGU F, etc. Thanks!
Thank you for watching! I think its capable but as far as the information I've seen, we won't see 8.5 in 2 series, 3 series and 4 series other than i4
I’ve seen some 2024s with leather steering wheel air bag cover. Must be because you don’t have the Premium package?
I've seen other M240i and even M340i with Premium Package Enhanced with same steering wheel cover
no, all 2024 do come with the new wheel air bag cover. Its not a '24 then
If the missing boot parts still exist would it be reasonable to ask my local dealer to fit them if i asked? Same for the missing coin pocket next to steering wheel?
you could re-add the grocery bag hanger but the net requires modification. The storage in front will require cutting the dash, confident dealer will deny your request
Is it possible to Retrofit the 2022 Shiftkob? I hate my little stupid thing on my 2023
Does these cars have active driving assistant? Where it stays in my lane and I just have to hold the wheel?
You forgot that they removed the storage on the left below the lightsettings of the driver.
Usually car companies add features not take out features.
they usually add features when a new model comes out, which the G42 does over the F22
The de-contenting of these cars - not good for the brand
I agree to some extent, I will say most people wouldn't have had the experience of having each consecutive model year to notice the differences and I can definitely say nothing was detracted from my ownership by not having some of the things that were missing from one year to another. However I'm just documenting my findings because I was surprised to find any changes at all
@@AllenBMWDurham The stitched leather steering wheel seems to be the biggest change, but I mean it's not a deal breaker by any means. It slightly cheapens the look of the steering wheel but like you say, has no effect of the driving experience. Kind of odd they went that route. I hate when prices go up and some quality comes down. Should be one or the other, not both!
I'm glad I got the 2023 model.. love the steering wheel.. the new one look's VERY cheap.... @@AllenBMWDurham
Maybe they prepared the system to be OTA updated later to OS 8.5 ? 😊
I hope but I have my doubts, it should have come pre-loaded like i4, i5, 5 series, 7 series, X5, X6, X7 and iX
@@AllenBMWDurham i already recieved the 8.5 update in my 2023 in southern california.
Probably just OS8.0 ? G42 is not available with headunit high 5 (mgu 22) yet …
Still very happy with my 2022 with Idrive 7, don’t feel like I’m missing anything with Idrive 8 (having used it a fair bit)
iDrive7 is great, iDrive8 is also really good but you're not missing anything really
Now I’m thinking maybe I made a mistake selling my 22 ,but I’m happy with my 23 Subaru for now .😊Thanks!
Which one did you like best I have a 2022
I think the 2022 was the most complete and unique in terms of having everything and the only 1 year with iDrive7. I think generally my 2023 got better reactions from people being impress by the appearance of iDrive8 and I was also happy I had red calipers and anniversary roundels. My 2024 is the least equipped but there is something I'm actually enjoying about not having options lol probably means I'm getting old. Overall 2022 was my first BMW so I probably liked it the most and beat it up the most lol
@AllenBMWDurham I had the 2022 with no option loved it so yesterday went bought a 2024 definitely like the car more than 2022
2022 is a better year. 😂
I'm fine with 2022, iDrive8 is nice but its more impressive for my passengers than me lol
So once again 2022 is the best version.
I love the idrive 8 ,500 miles in so far .....looks so good with the large screen.....glad i waited.had a x2 loan car with id 6 oh wow that is so dated now.
I can't stand the way new manufacturers are designing car interiors now. Stupid ass buttons for shifting instead of a knob, all of the physical controls hidden in fucking menus on a dumbass tablet strapped to the dashboard.
It makes it look worse, function worse, and is distracting while trying to drive and do something as simple as adjusting the AC.
It makes the whole cockpit look empty, there is just nothing but a steering wheel and a fucking tablet. Why even remove the shift knob when there is no lack of space considering that they moved all of the controls into the tablet?
It wouldn't surprise me if they started putting the shifting into the tablet too. Just get in and all you have is a steering wheel and a fucking TV on your dashboard.
Fucking "luxury" sedan and I get the same user experience as a cheap ass Camry. Oh wait, nevermind the $20k Camry has real fucking buttons! What a fucking joke.
They sure didn't take anything off the price for all the savings they're making not having to manufacture buttons, or wire them up...
wtf bmw
I understand, if you just picked up the car for the first time, you would not know what you're missing, also it doesn't detract at all from the ownership experience but it saves BMW tons of money in production
Thx Allen, Glad I purchased a new 2022 M240 2 years ago. Love the manual shift knob and the extra goodies in the trunk. Not sure why BMW changed those items in 2023.. I love shifting manual and prefer the floor shifter vs paddle shifters. That said, good luck with your new 2024!! great engine
thank you for watching! I miss some of the things in my 2022 but in no way did they alter my experience with the vehicle not having them and especially now with no options, I'm still loving the car
