True Story. When I owned a shop a buddy called me in a blind panic and asked me to buy his bike from his wife for $500. He was stuck on a ship and his pay hadn't gone through yet so his wife told him she was selling his bike. I gave her the cash and 3 weeks later her came back in and bought it back from me, plus some new parts he ordered while it was in the shop. You gotta support the local riders.

I had a real life experience of this. In 2020 I broke my collar bone (BMX). Due to COVID protocol my wife picked me up post -op. On the way to fill my prescriptions she said, “I’m selling your race bikes”. I calmly said, “just don’t sell them for what I told you I paid, because I lied…”.
To this date not a single word had been mentioned of that discussion. I still have my bikes and still race.
Injury ain't stopping anyone from doing what their passionate about. Unless you actually die
Collar bones are the worst. I hit a double roller but pumped in the middle like an idiot and landed on my handlebars and my shoulder. Had a ruptured kidney from the bars, 2 broken ribs, a lung contusion, and a fractured collar bone.
The collar bone is the only one that still gives me issues. This was 3 years ago.
@J B If I didn’t tuck my shoulder at the very last second to absorb the blow, I would’ve took it with my head and been in a similar situation. And I agree on the going breakless part. My crash happened on a brakeless BMX at a prefab park. I quit riding a while back, but with BMX streets finally coming out, that’ll at least scratch that itch for me.
I’ve got too many responsibilities to be sending it like I used to. Lol
I told the wife my new bike was $3k. She said, "OMG why is it so much!" Did I feel guilty? Not a bit.

My dad took a Santa Cruz BMX (only made an 1998 and 1999) with top tier components all around to the dump a few months ago. I went to pick it up later that week. He thought I wanted him to keep a different bike that was worth a fraction of the Santa Cruz...

hey love the vids on the ETMBs .. Im across the pond in England ,, Ive had hub drives for about 8 years done around 10 thou miles on them over the years .. To the point ... I got MND and still get out every sunny day on my bike just because when i ride it i look normal ... When i walk i ldont i ... Had to take the PA off the bike and fit a throttle but im still riding ... Got 2 Ebike hub drives with throttles .. Betsy the dirty girl for a little off road action and miss Daisy the wife nobody rides her but me but is up for anything wink wink .. keep up the great work .. .
A lady sold me a 2020 trek session for $250 once, after all was said and done and the bike was officially mine I told her what it was really worth and she tried to give me my money back and I said hell no then I tried to leave but she wouldn’t let me and said the cops were on their way, police got there she said I stole it but her own security cameras proved otherwise so after the whole ordeal I got one of the best dh bikes ever for the price of a Walmart bike. May be your worst nightmare but your making a person who can’t afford a nice bike really happy and expanding the sport so maybe it’s better this way

The worst is when strangers ask you what you paid for your bike because it feels like they're eyeing you up for a mugging. I always say, "Eh, a couple hundreds dollars," to hopefully make myself a less appealing target.

I've seen this happen irl one of my coworkers went to work to another city here in mexico and his wife sold his bike to a metal scrap collector,there's this people who go around in trucks buying scrap metal ,old car battery abandoned cars etc and she sold it for 400 pesos which is like 20 dollars it was a trek Marlin 4 he didn't got it new but it was still a good bike and worth more than 20 dollars ,she sold it because he didn't send her money that week ,he said he was so close to slapping her face when he came back and couldn't find his bike lol luckily he didn't do that but scolded her because they could get way more than that :T
Here in the Philippines, you can buy a high quality mountain bike for $400 and the cheapest for $60 which I'm planning to buy.
