  • This video demonstrates how cherries are packed at a cherry packinghouse in California.
This video was taken at The Flavor Tree Fruit Company and shows all of the steps that a cherry goes through during the packing process. The fruit is dumped into sanitized wash water, where they continue on the conveyor, the bunches are cut, the fruit is sorted and the bad quality cherries are culled while the doubles and spurs are sorted for another market, the cherries continue to a hydrocooler to remove any residual field heat, are sorted by an optimal sorter for size and quality, and based on the size, are sent to specific packing lines. Once the boxes are filled, they have a final weigh and quality check and are palletized. This video was narrated by Garrett Quade at The Flavor Tree Fruit Company.

Where are you buying them from? When in doubt, no matter where we’ve lived, the cherries sold at Costco are always the best quality!

I'd love a good recipe for the Rainer cherry. It seems like the Bing has more of a following. I'd like to try the Rainer cherry but don't know a good recipe 😋😍🍒
