This is probably the first drummer from GC drum off that has really impressed me. I understand that he's using chops but this guy offered so much in his material. Whether many think it true or not, I heard very good phrasings
I'll watch these classic Drum Offs over and over all day... you need to go back to just drums and make the drummers truly play. No more octopads. They are fun but don't make the drummers think musically on their kit only.
Man Chill D... This Is Clyde Frazier III... Man u ripped. And for all of us to get there for 4 days and not be able to touch a drum kit until It was the downbeat of our turn to solo IN THE COMPETITION. That thang threw me for a loop and Im sure it did for everyone else. But we all went in there and gave the world a hell of a great show... Dude u a beast. Cut that out sir.
Personally, I prefer this performance over his solo as champion in 2013, but that's just me. I'm not the biggest fan of incorporating electronics into a drum solo, although some of the solos I've seen from this are pretty spectacular, D-Mile's 2013 solo being one of them.
@niahniahfire Thats because all these guys are from the church background....they sound a lot Alike....Gerald Heyward is the one who started this style of playing in the 90's....
Realized something watching these competitions. These guys in the finals who don't win, it's not because of skill. These guys are mostly AMAZING drummers. But that's not what they want, they want drummers who can make music with or without other any instruments. Not just grooves and fills.
It is the age of the marching band and gospel chop drummers. These guys are very talented drummers, but find that the old guys had more creativity in the feel that is being produce, this is more mechanic and canned. I wish I could play some of the rudiments these guys play, but I don't get the same tingle as I do when I listen to the old dudes play their solos. The old guys don't play as many notes, but the feeling is ten fold what I hear with these guys. Don't get me wrong, this is good!!
I just competed against D - Mile tonight. Not only is he an AMAZING drummer but he was an AMAZING person as well. I don't like all the stupid comments on here. This guy is pure AWESOME . PERIOD . And this just came from a white dude.
@PartyMartyDrums Bro there is always a reason why guys like him are in the finals i think it is extremely rude to say that this is your just average solo!! There is zero respect for these guys now....and it's pretty sad to see the drumming community thinks that way!
@smerhej1234 Yeah, but there are a lot of qualifications about who is allowed to compete. It's actually stricter than you'd think. It's designed to find drummers on the rise that no one has heard of. Drummers have to cycle through styles fast because they only have 5 minutes to show the judges why they're the best and they usually pick the one with the most diverse style and most showmanship. I wasn't a fan of Isaias Gil, but he had excellent showmanship and showed fluency in many styles.
Dude. Guitar Center should've been named Music Center, but it's too late, and as a big music franchise, they are the ones who SHOULD be holding these drumoff's...so it's fine, dude.
@sebastianluik nobody cares, he made it to the finals because he is freakin legit. Everyone is always saying he did the same things as this other guy, well they both freakin drum so they are going to do the same thing, there are only so many rudiments. "Hey, this guy drummed to win the competition, jerome flood and ramon did that"
Great job man! A load of commenters need to get over themselves and admit someone can play better than them. Good fills and licks bro. jeremiahseilhymer
This isn't specific to this video, but does it seem like in general 2010 was a pretty 'down' year for the drum-off? I mean, these all seem good, but none of them have a whole bunch of 'wow' to them, which in a solo contest, is kind of the point, no?
Was there one beat that he kept for at least 4 measures? If so, can someone give me the time phase, because I didn't hear it. Not critizing, but at least give ONE beat so that you can actually showcase some talent. Overall, it was cool.
I believe that him and isaias just can't be compared. They play completely differently... Personally, I like D-Mile. I feel like he's not quite as "busy", which really brings out just how clean this guy is really playing. I feel like there's a lot more modesty here as well, not to mention a little more emotion and flow... Don't get me wrong though, both are great drummers! It was a toss up.
@themadmaddrummer he competing again this year? I hope he wins!! I've seen alot of his vids already.. He's nasty on the kit... I lost at the guitar center store finals here in sarasota,FL to a friend of mine that beat me at the Sam Ash drumoff! O well.. ill keep practicin.
@gshockkila - Thanks for you comment...but it not about me playing better...it about him play better than the other cats on stage.....I am not eligible to compete in the drumoff as I am a Pearl/Sabian endorsee....and I was at his district win and his store finals.....so I know a little bit about his potential....It just an opinion....don't get bent.
@pacificdrummer9 i know Ramon has probably taking that from another and so on. D-Mile is freaking sick, no doubt! i just think you need to be original and i know it's really hard to be that these days.
i dont know i think this guy may have been a little better just i guess isais was a little more showy with all the tricks he did and all but i like them both one day ill get there haha last year i tried and barely prepared and just did fast rolls and shit didnt really prepare something like this
@bigfatpanda4345 I bet he didn't win because his circus tricks were not as good as the winner's circus tricks. I'm still on the fence about visuals, or at least too many.
Cool beats but is it really necessary to ruin them with terribly fast single stroke fills, I mean they're definitely impressive but on a seperate wavelength
This is probably the first drummer from GC drum off that has really impressed me. I understand that he's using chops but this guy offered so much in his material. Whether many think it true or not, I heard very good phrasings
This young man has very nice feel he should have been number one.
And the sun glasses are still on his head. Amazing
i think this guy should have won, he's got a perfect blend of complexity that's easy to handle. I personally like this guy
If you'll listened closely around 4:20 he did that "get ur freak on" groove by Missy Elliot.
I'll watch these classic Drum Offs over and over all day... you need to go back to just drums and make the drummers truly play. No more octopads. They are fun but don't make the drummers think musically on their kit only.
Zack Zweifel I play on a Staggs kit. It's red, and sounds awesome!
Great energy. Nice groove. Best way of playing the instrument: with tons of fun!
Good one.
This is way better than his 2013 perfomance.
I agree! That delayed off beat @ 0:47 is Super Tough to make it come out right.
Ditto

omg this dude is awesome. very cool stuff going on, sweet modulations all over
If you don't hear his music improvement over 3 years, then you are deaf.
Personally, I prefer this performance over his solo as champion in 2013, but that's just me. I'm not the biggest fan of incorporating electronics into a drum solo, although some of the solos I've seen from this are pretty spectacular, D-Mile's 2013 solo being one of them.
Ben M I definitely agree. I am not the biggest fan of electronics. At 54 years old, I am old school.
Scott Hill And at 17, I'm pretty old school in that matter as well
Dang this is my first time seeing this and it’s 2020!
A whole 10 years later😲🤭

Wow, he REALLY sounds different here than in 2013. He sounds good!
He IS AMAZING
He won this year!

seems to be lots of vocalization in GC's 2010 drum off's participants
The groove starting @1:26 was beautiful!!
D-Mile your are strong
dude can groove
@smerhej1234 Yeah, but there are a lot of qualifications about who is allowed to compete. It's actually stricter than you'd think. It's designed to find drummers on the rise that no one has heard of. At 2:24 Ramon Sampson, the 2009 Winner, did that the same thing in his performance, and this guy just did it.
Correction, you simply didn't understand what he was playing
Dude. Guitar Center should've been named Music Center, but it's too late, and as a big music franchise, they are the ones who SHOULD be holding these drumoff's...so it's fine, dude.
He sometimes use Adam Deitch's rithms and style fragments...don't you agree?
Well that comment was meant to go on the anthony burns video....
hebis beast,love his style
the beat at 2:39 sounds a lot like one of jerome flood's beats in his solo for drum center
@sebastianluik nobody cares, he made it to the finals because he is freakin legit. SICK!
that kit is pretty killa
Dude had some groove!
Was there one beat that he kept for at least 4 measures? If so, can someone give me the time phase, because I didn't hear it. Not critizing, but at least give ONE beat so that you can actually showcase some talent. Overall, it was cool.

Does anybody know if this is improvised or if he wrote this?
@themadmaddrummer he competing again this year? I hope he wins!! I've seen alot of his vids already.. He's nasty on the kit... I lost at the guitar center store finals here in sarasota,FL to a friend of mine that beat me at the Sam Ash drumoff! O well.. ill keep practicin.
What type of snare is he using? Anybody know?
@djmusicmasta23 relax...you did fine
Although the fact that he cringes on some runs make him look weird, his performance was without a doubt groovy!
Desiigner plays the drums?
@niahniahfire i surely agree with you..
that kit sounds like god
This is Godzilla stepping on bambi awesome!!
umm Dave Chappelle's twin brother?
@jmoney123410 Uhh. Tama Starclassic?
Agree
@gshockkila - Thanks for you comment...but it not about me playing better...it about him play better than the other cats on stage.....I am not eligible to compete in the drumoff as I am a Pearl/Sabian endorsee....and I was at his district win and his store finals.....so I know a little bit about his potential....It just an opinion....don't get bent.
16 people lost their glasses duplicating that solo!
He and Gerald hey ward should collab.
Am i the only person who thinks that one of the greatest drum competitions should NOT have guitar in the name?
I play the gutar, but cmon
is this a precussion plus drum set lol
@niahniahfire and Anthony Burns
All messes of crowd-pleasing chops. The winners are the ones who added any amount of actual thematic and though-out drum solos
nice video
That's my boy. He coulda won but next time.
Thats why he won.....
Pretty cool :)
shit just got real at 0:47, good stuff.
epic drumming face
@niahniahfire Well, don't they all sound the same?
This cat can play!
honestly I think he should've won
Chargeeee.!!!!
Is it just me or was he playing with his eyes closed??
nice
@pacificdrummer9 i know Ramon has probably taking that from another and so on. D-Mile is freaking sick, no doubt! i just think you need to be original and i know it's really hard to be that these days.
0:49 wooooooooooooo
Wtf? This dude had sweeter grooves than ANY of the other finalists...Funny as shit drummer faces, though.
Better than 666indahouse's comment
sounded a bit like ramon samsons drum off and jerome flood
He kinda looks like MIchael B. Jordan from the sides XD
good ? im sure its probably a mix of both
i dont know i think this guy may have been a little better just i guess isais was a little more showy with all the tricks he did and all but i like them both one day ill get there haha last year i tried and barely prepared and just did fast rolls and shit didnt really prepare something like this
i think if he played just a little louder he could have won.
i like this better than the isaias guy
@stevsticks man there stuck in his fro, they ain't going nowhere.
This one was a lot like Ramon Sampsons.
But D-Mile has way better hair
WOW!! Im surprized SOME black people are interested in drumming (no racist comment) AND HIS REALLY GOOD!!...good NO AWESOME!!!
He's pretty good, idk about "Finalist" good tho.
Le hace falta mas cencerro.
such a copy of previous years drummers :P
Check out his youtube channel he is a beast
djmusicmasta23
If his solo didn't have som
@bigfatpanda4345
I bet he didn't win because his circus tricks were not as good as the winner's circus tricks. I'm still on the fence about visuals, or at least too many.
Cool beats but is it really necessary to ruin them with terribly fast single stroke fills, I mean they're definitely impressive but on a seperate wavelength
2:37 "aah shiat!"
Im the only one caught that!!!
Buddy rich famous qoute
Is it just me or does he have his eyes closed sometimes? lol
@stevsticks its the thick hair probably a lil nappy lol if he didnt mess up and a lil more creative he would have won sick grooves though
@fhjsjs Scared or not hes got sooome talent!! It is a funny face though...
but he's good!
lol.. he uses the same rhythm as Ramon Sampson to get the audience to clap..
This guy can obviously play but this solo is a bit lost.....this is not what he did to get tothe Grand Finals.....I wish him well next year.....
