A lot of others are rescued from owners who either didn't know how to take care of them properly or treated them wit malice and abuse. They need someone who will be there for them. They are going to be just as cute and wonderful at thirty as they would have been as a juvenile. Do not get one, if you think that you'll be leaving them in a cage most of the time. They are social animals and need to be with you, need to have close time. Once again, in a lot of ways, they are like having toddlers. They need contact, they need to be talked to, they need to be played with and to be touched. They are a tremendous amount of work, but oh my gosh, they are so worth it and more. I got my parrot, for my 13th birthday, and we were not prepared for what it took; but he was a beloved member for the family. I dont have a parrot bit I totally agree! I have ferrets and say the same to people. They dont realize how much money and work goes Into them and how "gross" (raw meat) their diet can be. But in the end its ALL WORTH IT!😊

Back when I was in high school our neighbor had 3 parrots. As beautiful as they were, she talked to me about how much work it went into caring for them. They are not easy pets.

Story time! So I was driving home from the Bulls basketball game. I was super bored and tired, and I forgot my phone at home so I could watch Jackie’s videos. It. Was. A. Nightmare. But anyway while we were driving home I was looking at these signs. And I almost choked on the chip I was eating when I saw a sign saying something like “The more salt, the better”. I instantly thought of Jackie, and soon enough I was home. So I jumped into bed and watched some of Jackie’s videos. The End

Thanks for telling us about parrots as pets! Like many other exotic animals, they truly are not suited for life as pets, and the folks who rescue them have to be prepared for the challenge. They can be amazing companions for the right people, but those people are rare. I'm definitely not one of them!
