In 1977, I was as an NYPD Sgt. in civilian clothes walking around the streets of NYC. I was planning to do something that was definitely not good for me. But somehow I inadvertently walked into a Christian bookstore that I was most definitely not looking for that day. Disappointed at the venue, I nevertheless decided to stay & browse at the books for sale on the shelves. Suddenly, I was standing face to face with a black & white photo of a young beautiful nun - that appears in this video clip. I felt an immediate romantic attraction to her as though I spotted her across the gymnasium when I was a senior at one of my Catholic High School dances. Her gaze was magnetic. I so desired to know her more intimately. Then a pang of guilt struck me that this was a nun & I shouldn’t be feeling this way. So I turned away & kept browsing up & down other aisles. Sure enough there she was staring at me from the same book placed atop another row of shelves. I picked it up & saw the title was “ A Biography of St. Therese of Lisieux, the Little Flower.” I remembered my mother talking about her when I was young. So I was purchased the book. After reading it I felt I was falling in love with this iron-willed Carmelite sister who would have been a contemporary of my grandmother. Impossible, I thought. But I think she was pursuing me. Next, I devoured her autobiography, Story of a Soul. That did it. I became hooked on Therese. I read everything I could find about her & even began a pen pal relationship with a group of Discalced Carmelites formerly in a Louisville, Ky. Convent. I was privileged to take a six month course on Theresian spirituality being given in St. Patrick’s Cathedral during her centenary in 1997. And I - as well as my classmates - were invited to go to the airport very early one October morning to meet her reliquary when she landed at JFK. She was to begin her tour of New York churches and many others in the U.S. That was a most sacred day in my life with Therese. I got to hug her. Here’s how it happened. My long love affair paid off many times but none as powerful as on that October morning at JFK. After attending Catholic liturgical services in a hangar my classmates and I were asked to form line along the tarmac leading to a mini-van that would take her plexiglass encased reliquary on its tour of New York City churches and elsewhere in the U.S. As I took my place in the line, It happened that my place was at the side door of the mini-van just a few feet back from a uniformed Port Authority Police Officer who was guarding that part of the van.I told him I was a retired NYPD member and added that if he prayed to Therese, his life would never be the same again. He replied, “ What do’ya have a thing for her?” I answered saying , ” I’m nuts about her. She had altered my life. ” Next thing I know her reliquary was loaded into the mini-van from the rear and when it was loaded all the way inside by the pall bearers, the P.A. Officer slid open the side door and said to me, “ Then get in there and tell her.” I climbed in on my knees, wrapped my arms around the plexiglass case holding the small casket or sarcophagus of her relics, and did just that - in tears of gratitude. I will never forget that as long as I live. In closing, my yLouisville Carmelite pen pals once sent me a colorized post card of my Therese and wrote on the back: “ Our Little Sister St. Therese dearly loves her James and has captured his heart. She will draw him closer and closer to her Beloved, Jesus ! “ She did exactly that. James Devine, NYPD Lieutenant ( ret. 1985). ❤
@jimdevinesr.7034 I, too, fell in love with her beauty. I have "The plays of St. Thérèse of Lisieux" looking so elegant and yet stoic with the chains and holding the flag. She was a beauty and I always use the expression K.I.S.S. for her. "Keep it simple stupid!" Not in a vain way. She knew how to keep it simple for everyone to understand the faith. The youngest doctor of the church! I know one day you will embrace her spirit. That is my desire. To feel the mother that she never was. Pure light energy!
St. Therese took her life back after she saw the statue of Our Blessed Mother Mary, said Bishop Barron. I have a lot to say, but I'll just say that your comment was my sort of comment, and thankyou for it.

I was drawn to St. Therese when I visited a chapel by chance. I was praying to pass an exam and my faith was not that deep. Come to think of it, it was shallow. But glory to God, I passed and my anxieties were lifted during the exam. But that was just the beginning. Little did I know that that was St. Therese's way of bringing me closer to Jesus. There's really something about her that had drawn me to God closely and it's all thanks to her! I wanted to know more about her and then this popped up! What a sign and what a blessing!
I was crying all the time, watching this! I love you, Thérèse of Lisieux! You're such a beautiful and delicate flower, now adorning the very heart of Mary, Jesus and God himself.
I have loved St Therese since a child and have always had a statue of her since a child. My mum use to sing the song St Theresa of the Roses which I always loved. After decades of not going to church but still remaining a Christian I went back to church one Sunday. The church was quite empty before Mass started and I found myself an empty pew at the back. Feeling a bit lost, not knowing anyone there I noticed there was a picture of a nun on the pew beside me. I picked it up and it was St Therese and a prayer on the back. I sat reading it for a while and it was beautiful. A man came and sat a little back from me and asked me what I was reading and I explained I have just found it here but she has always been my favourite saint and he said then it was meant for you to find. It felt like a very special moment to me. I kept the picture with her thoughts on Jesus and keep it in my Bible. Her thoughts were that we all love what sparkles, but Jesus is hidden and to find something that is hidden in the real treasure.
St Thèrése was also an advocate of the Holy Face of Jesus. It would be wonderful to do a podcast on this...for all to discover this devotion to the Holy Face. I'm much enjoying all your podcasts Bishop Barren, so full of truth and humility. Thank you! 🙏🏿🕯️

My friend loved roses. At her burial, the ladies were invited to take a rose from the bouquet. I so wanted one, but I am a man. St. Therese helped me get through my friend's pancreatic cancer and I hope offered my friend some consolation while dying. I said, St. Therese, I will go to the florist and buy a rose to show my love for you, and also in honor of my friendship with my friend. An hour later, at the funeral dinner, another friend walked up to me, gave me her rose, and said I think our friend would have wanted you to have a rose, too. Take this. St. Therese pulls through again ! Praise be Jesus Christ !
And some 19 years later it was the great war and millions of tons of bombs fell on France. The rose if the prediction ? It was Bernanos who pointed out this detail to me, adding that saints do not speak like others. And yet, this is not a man, a writer - certainly one of the most prodigious and mystical of writers - I challenge the most modern writers of today to write something as new, as revolutionary, as revolutionary and brilliant as “France against the robots” And yet from Thérèse's manuscript were also born showers of roses, all these souls that she acquired - not conquered - acquired to God. She gave even the pain of the absence of God in the soul a new way of complaint and forgiveness, she allowed us to find ourselves in weakness, to make it a joyful strength.

Wonderful video! Neither my mother nor me are of The Church, (she's Pentecostal, and I am a secular Satanist) but we both have a fondness for St. Thérèse. Jesus's love was so human, so intimate, so small and yet so all-encompassing. She realised this and lived it wholeheartedly. I hope to channel that love in everything I do!
Hey , If you don't mind me asking ..what does secular satanism mean ? And if you seem to understand Jesus' intimate love ..why do stay you as a secular satanist , dear ?
@@alonamaria279 I believe the romantic character of Satan represents the greatest fight against tyranny and authoritarianism, even when (especially when) all hope is lost. More concretely, Satanism is the fight against authoritarian Christianity in my country. Most of our elected officials are Christian but do not follow Jesus's teachings about love and forgiveness. In my opinion, Jesus's intimate love was taken advantage of and manipulated, resulting in his death at the hands of the State. I think Jesus is way more human and humane than the God of the Old Testament. I think Jesus would have made a great Satanist.
I went to school in the 1950s and 60s and so many of my classmates loved Therese but for some reason I could never feel close to her. Then I read The Story of a Life by Father Guy Gaucher and the light went on.

Thank you so much retired NYPD Sgt! Beautiful story!!!
Yes! Beautiful story. Thank you for sharing. 🙏🙏🙏
What a beautiful touching story! 😢
I've read Story of a Soul a couple times, i absolutely love St. Therese!
Mary Thérèse. I am constantly praying:
'Little Flower, at this hour, show your power' and she answers me!
She died 125 years ago. From today. Now I am 25. Almost, one (1) century after her farewell, I came.
🌹
St. Therese took her life back after she saw the statue of Our Blessed Mother Mary, said Bishop Barron. I have a lot to say, but I'll just say that your comment was my sort of comment, and thankyou for it.
Realy lol you make a great bull shitter mate think a out what you've put lol ?
And
@@yuranpower why do you claim to have a mother spiritualy you seem to idolise umpteen stone figures why is that god. Is the only one also jesus our brother you should only pray to yet you have loads of gods ? James
Bless you, St. Therese... Jesus' little friend 😘
I was crying all the time, watching this! I love you, Thérèse of Lisieux! You're such a beautiful and delicate flower, now adorning the very heart of Mary, Jesus and God himself.
I couldn't hold my tears either... St Therese pray for my lost contact with daughter, please help her...:(
I have loved St Therese since a child and have always had a statue of her since a child.
Happy Feast dearest Little Flower. Send Roses 🌹 from HEAVEN to all who invoke your intercession 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thank you Bishop Barron
St Thèrése was also an advocate of the Holy Face of Jesus. It would be wonderful to do a podcast on this...for all to discover this devotion to the Holy Face. I'm much enjoying all your podcasts Bishop Barren, so full of truth and humility. Thank you! 🙏🏿🕯️
Bishop Barron is one of the best bishops of the Church! I always learn so much from him! It would be a pleasure to meet him one day!

She died at 24 and left behind an empire. Bishop Barron you are the apostle of the little Therese. God bless your vocation.
My friend loved roses. At her burial, the ladies were invited
to take a rose from the bouquet. I so wanted one, but I am a man.
St. Therese helped me get through my friend's pancreatic cancer and I hope
offered my friend some consolation while dying.
I said, St. Therese, I will go to the florist and buy a rose to show my love for you,
and also in honor of my friendship with my friend.
An hour later, at the funeral dinner, another friend walked up to me, gave me
her rose, and said I think our friend would have wanted you to have a rose, too. Take this.
St. Therese pulls through again ! Praise be Jesus Christ !
“I will spend my Heaven doing good on earth. I will send forth a shower of roses “
And some 19 years later it was the great war and millions of tons of bombs fell on France. The rose if the prediction ? It was Bernanos who pointed out this detail to me, adding that saints do not speak like others. And yet, this is not a man, a writer - certainly one of the most prodigious and mystical of writers - I challenge the most modern writers of today to write something as new, as revolutionary, as revolutionary and brilliant as “France against the robots”
And yet from Thérèse's manuscript were also born showers of roses, all these souls that she acquired - not conquered - acquired to God. She gave even the pain of the absence of God in the soul a new way of complaint and forgiveness, she allowed us to find ourselves in weakness, to make it a joyful strength.
Thank you, dear Bishop Barron, for sharing this inspiring CATHOLICISM episode on my Patron Saint, St. Therese of Lisieux. God bless you & your mission abundantly.❣
Happy Feast Day, beautiful souls!
St. Therese 'the Little Flower',⚘pray for us. Amen.
I don’t think I could possibly love this any More than I do now. Excellent job, articulate as always, and just so powerful
Bishop Barron, you have a lovely way of telling a story that always keeps me interested. Thank you.
Thank you Bishop Barron it is an amazing proclamation ... love it
What a beautiful video on St Thèrése. I love how you mention her as a little flower on the ground and how no one will notice her. That deepens my love for her. May we be blessed by her prayers and sainthood.
Thank you bishop Barrón and team🌹
I love our little flower! St. Therese of Lisieux taught me the greatest lessons from her autobiography. Jesus becomes more accessible through the little way and she appeals to the everyday Christian. Matthew 18:3 is the scripture that her whole ministry stands on. Thank you Bishop Barron for your change of heart toward this great saint. She truly is magnificent. Blessings to you and to the whole world!
I didn’t realize that May 13 was the date she saw the smile of Our Lady.. years later May 13 was also the first apparition of Our Lady of Fatima!
Sincerely I pray that God will bless Bishop Barron and Word on Fire ministries 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️✝️
St. Therese, please be a daughter to my mama in heaven. Pray for us who are still here on earth. 🌹🌹🌹
GOD never ever stops Calling
Thank you Bishop Barron for telling so well the story of the Little Flower. May her message of total humility and trust in Our loving God spread throughout the world at our time of need.
On the right time, thank you Bishop Barron. I love you!
Through God's graces, was able to visit St Therese in Lisieux!
Father Barron! We are growing older together. I remember this wonderful DVD first came out and I was just gravitated towards her story. Simple yet so profound. You are such a natural story teller.
Today's the feast of the saint after whom my Alma Mater is named. Little Flower of Jesus High School. Happy Feast Bishop and y'all!
Robert Barron tells this so well.
A beautiful soul. St Thérèse, pray for us.

“Everything is Grace” this is Saintity on Earth. Thank you Sainte Thérèse for your grande petitesse 🌹
I came back to faith and the Catholic Church from atheism last year, which is 150 years from the when she was born. I have discerned St Therese to be my patron saint, as I resonated with her life immediately as I read her writings. There are no coincidences in God's plan of Salvation.
thank you for posting this. she makes me cry
My parents gave me her name as my middle name. I cherish this greatly
I will read The Story of a Soul ❤
Beautiful video .Many thanks Bishop Barron. Please pray for us St.Therese.🌹

Excellent presentation a Thank you Bishop Barron
St. Therese suffered many temptations and her life wasn't that easy, but her way of doing even the smallest things with great love is one that anyone can follow.
When St. Therese reliquary was brought to Manila, i forgot what year, i recall hearing a report on by one of the local networks, that Philippine National Police had a record of having no reported crimes in those days her relicts were here. I cannot recall details on the report but it resounds in my memory.
Thank you for this beautiful story.
There's a beautiful novena to St Therese where she will send you a rose for your prayer to answered. I have prayed it twice in my life for really special needs and I got a rose on both occasions. The prayer can be found in the pieta prayer book. She will answer you.
Thank you Bishop Barron. GBU. Amen.
Dear little flower, Saint Therese, i humbly and prayerfully ask for your intercession to ask the Lord to grant our prayers
Very inspiring the story of St.Theresa.Thanks.India
St Teresa, pray for my family and I🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💗💕💗
Amazing talk thank you Steve Ray 🙏
