It's so encouraging to see a creator be so open about their faith. It's definitely a refresher and I love that you try to glorify God in all of your work! Your videos are put together very well and professional. You are definitely an inspiration to me. Keep up the good work! 3 John 1:2
Hi Allison, The words that pop into my head when I watch your videos are: Happy, happy, joy, joy! (Ren & Stimpy) That's what you bring to everyone's world. So...creatively, at 75 (yikes) I started my painting journey and fell in love with gouache. I also am extremely fond of abstracts, in my own style-which is still developing. Learning is a forever process, and should be. When we stop learning, we stop living. After all, life IS a creation. I don't do what you do, but I truly admire your work and always come away with something that I can apply to my own work. You are a natural story teller, too. Thanks very much. :)
Aww thank you SO much, Naomi!! You are so kind and encouraging. 💛 Abstracts are such a beautiful art style!! Have you seen Laura Horn's artwork? She creates lots of really beautiful abstracts. I absolutely agree that learning is a big, beautiful part of life!! Thank you so much for watching my videos, and for sharing your thoughts with me. 💛
I've been binging your videos everyday after work while I work in my sketchbook for the past couple weeks and I find not only your art, but also your personality to be delightful. I'm working on a double-page illustration spread in a watercolor sketchbook I made myself and watching your videos/listening to your commentary helps keep me motivated🥰
I recently discovered your art and I'm mind blown by it (at such a young age too), your love for dogs, nature and food, and (probably most importantly) your originality. I LOVE that you use krita. Not only because I'm a huge opensource fan (and krita is open sourced) but also because it shows to me that you aren't just following trends and picking the expensive materials and software (like procreate). You're an inspiration and you have no idea how much you are helping the opensource community. (O and I also love how you're not chasing money and sales all the time. Huge love ❤
My boyfriend and I are obsessed with Settlers of Catan! We even play the phone app together when we can't get another to play with us or we are too lazy to set it up! 😂
Congratulations on the new followings 😍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 and aaaah I love your colors so much 😩💖 and I'm so in love with the geometrical way you painted the animals 😍 I wish good health and all the best 🌺🌺🌺
i'm a watercolour artist but sometimes i just want big bold colours and opacity so i decided to try and learn gouache since it works great for mixed media as well, and oh boy. I suck. It's really hard to go from being good at something to being a beginner again, because normally even with watercolour pieces I'm not fond of i can still salvage or make decent. but woooo there is no saving my gouache pieces. I'm trying to stay persistent but the hardest part for me is definitely just being a beginner and accepting i'm going to be bad for a while and not to compare my work with other mediums that i've had much more pratice with.
I can TOTALLY understand that. It’s never easy to be a beginner at something. But I have full faith that you’re skills in gouache are going to grow!! I saw a quote about being a beginner that really spoke to me: “You say ‘amateur’ as if it was a dirty word. ‘Amateur’ comes from the Latin word ‘amare’, which means to love. To do things for the love of it.” Being a beginner is nothing shameful. It simply means you’re so in love with the creative process that you’re willing to try new things and take risks!! 💛
Such a wonderful addition to your animal series. I love love love the colour palette!😍 How did you decide on which colours to pick? As for my art journey, I’ve been dedicating most of my time during the last months to my favourite subject: cute portraits. And after a lot of hesitation, I finally took the plunge and created an Instagram account. It’s scary, but exciting. Congrats on your IG milestone! I wish you all the best on your journey and am curious to see what else you’ll create in the future.⭐
Thank you so, so much!! I knew from the beginning I wanted to use a butter-y yellow and a purple-y blue, but beyond that I kinda' winged it with the colors. 😂 For my animal paintings, I simply try to paint mix colors intuitively! I'm SO excited that you took a leap of faith and started an IG account for your art!! That's such a huge, AMAZING step. 💛
Thank you so much!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. 💛 For my "messy" sketchbooks, I grab the cheapest, biggest sketchbook I can find. For sketchbooks to paint in, I like using either mixed media or cold press books! I painted my animal paintings in a cold press Etchr watercolor book, and for the doggy day paintings I used a mixed media Mossery sketchbook. I also really love the cold press Pentalic Aqua Journal!
Love these, Allison! I will definitely check our some more of your videos! I'm also an Allyson but mostly only my family calls me that - or my son when he's trying to act stern with me! LOL
