Thank you to you and to Neil for letting us join you. I love that Neil was searching for drivability, and not peak numbers. A car that operates smoothly always seems more nimble. Can't wait to get to that point where mine is ready for this. ;-)
Many thanks for your comment - it does prove that a rolling road / dynotune is really worthwhile. I had my GT done a few years ago when the engine had been worked on and it made a huge difference!
Very informative video, Graham. I think the follow up on Neil’s upgrades would also make for an interesting video. Seeing Neil’s rear disc brakes prompted another idea… how about an assessment of the Frontline 5-link rear suspension?
It was very interesting to see the MGB being dyno tuned. I used to do mobile crypton tuning in the 80s. I sometimes had to change needles and jets in the carbs, but I didn't know about filing the needles.
Thanks so much for your comment - it was actually great fun seeing how involved a dynotune can be and exactly how it all worked! Great that Neil was pleased with the results :-)
Interesting video. I’m not sure what AC Dodd would have to say about filing flats onto a needle ! Would be interested in seeing more detail on this great looking GT and the modifications installed.
It would be nice perhaps to have had a walk-around of Neil's GT, the subject of the tune and post test drives - we don't see much of it understandably due to the tune? You mention how lovely it is etc. Just a thought.
Very nice car, very interesting video Graham. Like Neil's comment about upsetting purists,it's your car do what you want. At least it keeps them on the road
Many thanks for your comment! To be honest, I'm not sure how much Neil paid in the end. Maybe give Nathan at Lloyd Specialist Developments a call and he can explain what the average costs are for an MGB...
I like the O/D you can switch it on and off without your hands leaving the wheel & you can use it in third, for when you need to drop the revs before an opportunity to overtake, ie drop into O/D 3rd & switch out to overtake.
@@steveporritt1550 I love my overdrive as well - as it works on 3rd and 4th you effectively have 6 gears although overdrive 3rd is very similar to 4th! That said, Neil's 5=speed box was very smooth!

Loved the video - my favourite so far! Would great to see another with Neil and his remaining resto-mods!
Many thanks for your comment - Neil is keen to do a full video in the New Year so watch this space! :-)

You really need a needle lathe to do them properly. Filing is a bit of a bodge. Watch ACDodd to see SUs done right
Many thanks for your comment - the idea of filing the needles is to alter the profile throughout the rev range...
@@ClassicMGB yes, but they need to be very smooth and a uniform radius so filing probably won't achieve that.
Fair enough...
What an excellent episode this has been, the dyno work was so enlightening.

Nice Gt. Good to have a really mint and sorted modest classic fine tuned over time.
Thanks so much for your comment - it really is a beautiful GT - one of the best I've seen inside and out!
I wish I had one of these in my garage. Very informative video, Thank you.
Many thanks for your comment - much appreciated. probably a bit pricey for the keen amateur :-)
What an excellent film.
Many thanks for your comment - it was an interesting day!
Lovely car and very interesting topic 👍
Thanks for your comment - couldn't agree more :-)
Really interesting. Great upload
Many thanks for your comment - it was a really interesting day so I'm glad that came out in the video! :-)

Always an Outstanding video and presentation.

I would like to see a video on the power steering conversion.
Many thanks for your comment! Several viewers have asked for a detailed look at Neil's GT so we'll make sure we cover the PAS system as well!
@@ClassicMGB also the gearbox conversion.
Having a wideband is invaluable for setting carbs up
Many thanks for your comment - I agree, the correct tools are essential. Nathan's experience with MGBs also helped a lot in this case :-)
I'm in the process of fitting a megajolt to my B so I can fully map the ignition. Just need to work out how to fit a TPS to my hif4s @@ClassicMGB
It'll certainly help having a 5 speed gearbox.
Thanks for your comment - Absolutely - the 5 speed gearbox was lovely, but I did reach for the overdrive switch a few times! :-)
