What a motor!!! So glad you went with the turbo!!! Your driving skill are superb and can’t wait to see the mini in action!!! Well done mate after all the hard work it really has paid off. Awesome car mate.
Cool good to see you go for the win, a lot to having you own build and your car is a beauty in motion. I have a bucket list to take a SCCA drivers training and then race. My favorite You Tube watch was a PIR corvette race with a '67 Ford 427 Holman-Moddy clone Ford - he won the race the vets would closen at the corners an the beautiful FE power would walk away form the vets it was beautiful win. God speed to you as you fine tune these cars and yourself to the best - blessing to you and your family.
She is a beauty!! Know all of the creativity and fab work You have put into the 'Pea' ... It is a joy to see You ripping it around the track and having fun! Peace 🤠
You will find those 3 or so seconds with setup and more time getting used to trail braking, grip levels, etc. Well done on the build and getting the old girl humming along so well.
Nice one Matt! Engine sounds great. One thing I noticed is you turn in early for alot of the corners. Camp for example if you stay a cars width from the first apex it will get you a better angle for the second, to really get that turbo going early down the straight.
Sounds like you have a plan and a reason for that plan to work. FWIW, the Mini's are shaped much better in the wind. Good luck on the driving test. Love the track footage and the clocks and speed ball- it really shows where you need to pinch inches and seconds off. Every time you go , you seem to get a bit better- this one had a lot more sawing the wheel and I was wondering till you explained about the new cambering- back that off a degree or so on both ends and run it again- that should improve your patch contact and give you a more predictable ride. You still met your best time on this track even with it feeling a bit unsettled.
You've come along way, well done. I remember when you had the two cars then you had that first test drive after getting it painted... Now going for you track cert. Very impressed 👏
BIg fan of that Ford 100E, Urch. You're obviously a gifted fabricator, builder, and artist. And I always appreciate onboard footage. Do you think you can give us a video of that beauty going all out around the track? Your thumbnails, brother...make em' a video! I want to see that thing giving it the beans around the bend! Keep doing your thing...
It would be interesting to see how much mid corner speed your revised set up will bring. Can you hook up a brake pedal ‘sensor’ of some type (or just a camera) maybe there’s a bit of time available with more ‘focussed’ braking. I reckon a collaboration with someone like @driver61 could be interesting - see if driver training over the ‘tubes can shave lap time. Great stuff Matt. It must be so rewarding bashing out some reliable, quick laps.
Hey Matt, I think you'll be surprised just how quickly you'll be running near the front in the mini's. You're a talented driver, once the pea is set up properly...you'll be turning some heads. PS..Even thou the Mini is also a brick its less of a brick than the 100e...;D
25yrs ago i was over the moon to hit 90mph on the ragged edge, so you are not doing that shabby... i'm a bit out out touch, but even tyre temps still sound like the way to go
The vehicle is too light for that suspension setup I'd agree. Not being in person to see what the nature of your rubber is it seems dancing around the track on the inside of your tires voided the extra track width of your car. One of the most successful track racers i ever met would set his tyre pressure to 22 lb's./ inch square. I was astonished how soft he ran his pressure but he would lift the inside tyre at the front on almost every corner. That alone could correct the suspension geometry by allowing a very flexible tyre on an aggressive race suspension setting. (which you have set up) little steps Matt. Brilliant car and you're fairly focussed driver. When you have the setup set. Itll come down to your concentration at a fast rate. Lap records are made to be smashed.
I may have missed your setup specs, but it looks like you need a lot more camber front and rear. My e46 is -4.5 front and -3 rear. In this video yours looked close to strait up and down. Camber in the turns equates to confidences. Not baggy on ya, trying to be helpful. These cars are awesome.
Boy, racing a Mini as opposed to track days is a different kettle of fish, there is potential for some over confident muppet to punt you off, going by the racing I've seen on here.🤞 A guy does great video footage at Castle Combe.
Hi Matt, what is the power to weight ratio of the Mongrel versus the Mini? If you watch BARC stuff on youtube, you'll see that not everything can match the Mini laptimes on certain tracks, if they do go faster than the Minis - it's generally not by much. Unless of course it's a mahuasive inbalance in terms of power to weight and cost. It is absolutely superb to follow you, to learn, to laugh and to be inspired. Thank you for creating this brilliant channel.
Thanks for following along bud. I’m not sure as I’ve not weighed it yet, I would think they’re similar power to weight. Soon as the mini is finished I’ll sort out some scales and weigh both. Cheers 🍻
@@Urchfab Thanks for the reply fella, I'm sure with the great community you have created, there will be someone local to you or a track that has the scales and would help you at the drop of a hat. It'll save some pennies that could be spent on moar tires :D When my parents raced Minis in the 80's, they used to take a crate of beer to the local scrap yard, to use their scale. Granted, wont give corner weights or front/rear balance, but it's an option. Looking forwards to future vids, keep up the superb work chap!
AWESOME VIDEO.........exactly what I enjoy watching and the talk at the end gave exactly the information I was wondering about 👍 I realize that it isn't the plan but what other more powerful engine could you put in and what do you think is the most horsepower the Mongrel chassis could handle?
Unmistakable sound at the start. 😀It also sounds like there was a hand on the slide whilst it was going forward. This is not recommended if you want the round to be chambered 100% properly and fire thereafter! The slide needs to be released at full extension and to come forward under its own steam with a "bang"! Holding the slide going forward is a disaster waiting to happen. ie: a round not properly chambered and a misfire when you really don't want it!
What a motor!!! So glad you went with the turbo!!! Your driving skill are superb and can’t wait to see the mini in action!!! Well done mate after all the hard work it really has paid off. Awesome car mate.
Cheers 🍻
Nice work mate.. some nasty bumps on there .. 120 mph though... cracking little car and driver. .The Mushy Pea is looking great..
Cheers 🍻
Holy crap, Matt!!
That turbo engine sounds so sweet!

Your skills definitely go beyond the workshop….👍🏼
Awesome sleeper!

Yes lots to work on. Cheers 🍻
Hold it flat Mat! (Nice driving old bean)

It's a fast mushy pea great work you've put in to make a great car 🚗good luck with the tests
Great stuff! Good luck with the test. I really enjoy your building and track day videos. Hope to se some mini racing soon!
Keep up the badassery. Love the progress.
Cheers 🍻
Looked great and the sort of hit of encouragement I need to get my zetec turbo build out on track for the first time👍
Nice to see the track map and all the instruments on screen👍
Great to see you flogging the Pea around the track.
You've come along way, well done.

I'm looking forward to seeing the other brick on the track!
100E is a ripper! Looking forward to more track footage etc! 🔥🔥
Wow, absolutely brilliant Matt, it sure doesn’t half go bad for a “brick!!!” Hope your racing test goes well.
Cheers 🍻
Nice one Mr 😎

Awesome 👍🏽 be better when you sort out the alignment, will you put a number on the doors with a white round background?
How cool is that, the lap times matched identically! Now thats some spicy drivin' may man!
Thanks mate
Passing everything on the track!
This is awesome Matt👍👍
Cheers 🍻
Great video mate, the pea is looking good.... LAG
If it's a brick at least it's a good looking one !
Such a well sorted car great fun to drive I bet, 👍
Man , that is a sweet little car !!!
Excellent
Cool to watch. It's a beast. Thanks Matt 👍

I much prefer your old introduction. The last thing the world needs is more gunshots.
Whatdya live on the West Bank, or Ukraine?
Thanks Matt great video again
Cheers 🍻

Amazing 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
you are a bad bad boy! :D
Btw, are you still running those massively heavy lower control arms in the Pea?
Just trying to figure out why it acts like it does on bumps and such.
What tyre pressure were you using at combe..??.. maybe a bit less would lead to a little bit of tyre roll thus using the full width?
26 ish hot

Matt, maybe a well designed splitter would help a bit?
I’m sure it would 👍

When are we going to get a Mat Armstrong or Jimmy Broadbent crossover? I seem to prefer British car content for with you three being tops.
Thanks, maybe at some point 👍
Who did your alignment?
Cheers
👍💪
Great video, have you still got the b204 escort?
No sold it mate.
put a bumper on for air. maybe

MUUUUUSSHHHY PEEAAAA!!!!!! 💚💚💚
Are your tyres R888 (TOYO)
👍
🤗💪
Your tire tread patterns aren’t all facing forward…will throw things off a a little
R888 are just inside/outside they don't have the rotation
