Welp, Fairlane Crime Center was a nice mall while it lasted. All went downhill after they stopped the monorail. Now the Hyatt is abandoned too. Sad days. I hope 12 Oaks is next. I feel for Omar though, seems like a nice guy. Might have to go pay that place a visit.
Online shopping, items bought and sold on FB marketplace all take more market share away from Brick and Mortar stores. Which is sad truly. Malls need to become destinations instead of just shopping. I mean anybody can shop 1200am to 100am in bed online and never have to burn any gas. Also malls need to bring in Housing + Retail as 50/50 tenants. No way around it. Need to balance residential units with retail units
How is this mall doing? Haven’t been inside in decades. Used to be nice. Sounds like it has issues too. Things happen. Remember Lakeside. Maybe the best mall in the state 30+ years ago. Now it’s closing for good.
@@sonicnator yep I’ve commented on these boards about how lakeside is closing but 12 oaks is still thriving. They were built about the same time and were like mirrors of each other for decades. Any theories as to why? Partridge creek is near lakeside but there’s more reasons than that. Oakland still there but dumpy compared to its heyday. That was my mall growing up.
It's going down
I'll miss Fair Lane mall I was one and a half when it opened in 1976. Memories ❤

@@Rob2068 Yes. It's pretentious and the last time I was there the elevator smelled like feet.
@@viktorakhmedov3442some people have a foot fetish.
