I am currently rereading The Starless Sea and both times have been slow to get into. I do want to mention that around the half point is where things to get interesting. The flowery diction does make it feel like a fever dream but that's what I personally love about it (don't ask me why lol). I definitely understand why a lot of people don't like it, though.
I have actually finished the starless sea last week and I liked it 😍 Admittedly, I do usually like nonsense-books but I think a lot in the book kinda made sense and I especially loved how everything was tied together in the End. I also loved the whimsical atmosphere and the slow writing but at the time I was really in the mood for that. But I do agree, pop culture references alwas throw me off too. Hope you enjoy the book anyways 😊

Have you considered when vlogs become overwhelming doing bookish asmr? Your b-roll is always so calming and I'm sure we'd always enjoy watching it. I know feeling unproductive can be harmful to mental health but also needing to be in front of a camera can be anxiety inducing as well. This might be a good compromise of still having something to do that you clearly excel at and not having to talk? I just wanted you to know that you don't have to force yourself while also not having to give up putting out a video. Lots of well wishes! ❤️
I've tried filming ASMR videos before, though I'm fussy with the sounds and my camera mic doesn't quite cut it ahaha. May need to give it another go though! Thank you for the kind words
Oh no. Seeing books pitched as "inspired by Hungarian folklore" always gives me huge anxiety. Usually they have nothing whatsoever to do with Hungary or Hungarian myths and are just one giant continuous secondhand embarrassment to read. Any fellow Hungarians here please reassure me that this one is going to be okay! Btw I loved the going-out outfit in this one! And the forest clips a ususal!

Unpopular opinion alert: Starless Sea is trash! Nonsensical, flowery, unnecessary trash! There's one passage where a character compares the weather to poetry. Bitch, please! I wanted to slap all the characters in that scene, not gonne lie. The stuff you mentioned around 21:50 got old very fast for me and I hate-read this book. In fact, I hated this book so much it made me like less The Night Circus. But I think it's probably a me thing. Literary fiction gets on my nerves more often than not. I do hope you love it, though. There's nothing worse than being so disappointed by a book and an author. I don't wish that on anyone!
