Feels like it's either downvoting a specific country for political reasons (ex Armenia and Russia), anger over mediocre direct qualifiers (ex Spain 2020), feeling a country's entry was undeservedly successful (ex Sweden and Greece/Cyprus), a video with such few viewers that every downvote weighs heavily (ex Hungary 2015), very divisive winners (ex Portugal 2017), an entry in a very divisive genre (ex Iceland 2019), the rare performance that is just plain bad (ex Spain 2017), or a combination of these reasons.

@@escserg6731 yeah 😕 But also there are some songs that kinda go unnoticed and you expect them to have a low number of likes AND dislikes, but the relatively low amount of dislikes makes a significant percentage because of how few likes there is 😅

I personally adore Jendrik and don’t hate Levina and Sisters, I put them on the thumbnail just because they placed 5th, 4th and 3rd here, in a row, from one country! It just shows how Germans themselves hate their own entries, much more than other big5 countries

I only like Jendrik out of the 3 but as a German I can say that I don’t dislike 2017/2019, because they did poorly I dislike them, because the songs are generic and poorly staged. Jendrik had a Fun song with a fun performance.

The hate for the Tamara Todevska one is that the song was really, really blatant jury bait. It was clearly written around a "right on" message and vocal performance, but with little attention to a song that would be memorable or worthwhile, but because it ticked the right boxes, the jury voted it to the moon, whereas the televote shat all over it because a lot of people watching at home want to have fun and be entertained, and it was neither fun nor entertaining. I think a lot of people downvoted it because it's emblematic of all the bad parts of having the jury, where technically accomplished but boring and forgettable songs win out over memorable songs and performances.
really shows how dislikes are a poor metric for quality, as its often based on the context around the performance than the performance itself

As I said before, politics are everywhere! So, don't be surprised why a lot of people are angry about Ukraine's victory this year (2022)! How small some people are! We are talking about solidarity and they are talking about a victory in a contest! Really now?
