My couch got delivered two weeks late and I used my REI chair as my gaming chair. That should say everything. It was comfortable for hours with no complaints.
Had the chair zero for a few years…love it. Just went to the high-back chair and it’s amazing! 6’1” and 220, wanted something with a little better support on my back. So much more comfortable to me.
Hello Justin I've been watching your videos for a few months, recently more often and I just wanted to thank you for your time to make them and how technically and well explained your reviews are, Thanks to you I have spent a lot of money hahahahaha, but I am very happy because everything I buy is well thought out and of high quality, functional and above all ultralight, thanks again for your advice, I just bought the Polar Ranger thermarest a pleasure... Greetings and have a good day
I purchased a Chair Zero. Thought it was the answer to my camp comfort but found out I was wrong. It sinks in the Florida soil. The ground sheet for it is nice but does not help that much. The seat height stinks to put it politely. All the time I had been using the best thing ( for Me ) all along , my hammock. I like it because the hammock is at normal chair height all the time. My grandson is enjoying the chair , he's 10.
My chair broke within 1 year. The hole by the right leg, where you also have trouble finding the word for, was pierced by one of the legs you put in there. The hole simply wore out within that year. I use the chair every week. I got a replacement cloth due to warranty, but i was lucky since it only has one year warranty. Customer service was ok, but i don’t think that something like this should happen after 1 year for that price.
I'm pretty sure the Hilltop Packs stuffsack for the chair isn't actually waterproof in either the DTRS75 Ecopak or Dyneema versions; they are "weather resistant". HP says bag isn't taped. Also, I don't think the leg orientation is actually what is patented, considering you only have to look at Big Agnes, GCI Outdoor, ALPS Mountaineering, Nemo, etc all have the same leg orientation. Pretty sure the patent has more to do with the hub system.
I have the Hillsound BTR stool and I really like it for working in the garden pulling weeds but when I’ve brought out on the trail, I find myself wanting something with a back rest. I just can’t justify $130 for the helinox. Maybe someday.
Great comparison as always. I'll definitely go the original at some point. In the interim I've got a cheap stool. It weighs about the same and sets up in 2 seconds. Great for taking a quick break on during a hike.
I prefer the REI flex lite air chair. $30 less. Weights only 1lb. Has slightly better support for leaning back. Only thing I like better about the helinox is that you can stretch your legs out in front of you a little bit better.
@@natehoover5266 ya I’m pretty sure the flex lite air weighs slightly less than the sierra madre but I’ve never sat in that one it might be sturdier for the extra .36 lbs. the flex lite air only weighs 1 lb but when my bigger friend sits in it it’s definitely close to its weight limit.
@@CharlesBlank I just used my Sierra Madre Air Chair on a 4 day trip and I was never scared of it breaking or anything. I'm around 190lbs and felt completely comfortable. My base weight is still more than I want but it's getting lighter. It was only my second backpacking trip and I feel like I'm making good progress in my journey.
It seems that weekend hikers typically aren’t as ultralight focused as thru hikers, nor are they gone for weeks at a time, so having a helinox chair or Nemo moonlite is a no brainer. Remember the days when thru hikers used to carry 50 pound packs? What a privilege to debate over ounces!
Exactly! Anything more than 10-15 miles a day or longer than a three day trip I would NOT take a chair. For short easy trips where weight isn't a concern you bet I would love to bring along a comfortable spot to chill at camp.
Not a thru hiker. Weekend and up to 3 nights so far. I buy light stuff so I can bring luxuries. If I ever attempt a multi hundred mile trip, I will re evaluate my weight and luxury choices. Bringing a couple beers on an overnighter is no problem, only have to carry the cans back tomorrow. carrying a few beers on a through hike every day is ridiculous.

I have a eureka model with a high back. It’s awesome (although heavier). I can lean my whole head back onto the chair back. Hubs has a helinox knockoff. We don’t hike very far though, under 10 km, so it’s not a big deal to have a heavier pack
When in sand or soft dirt I try to put the chair over a small log so it doesn’t sink in. The ground sheet seems to defeat the purpose of getting such a light chair.
