Chain lubing using Gear oil : how to maintain chain properly ; cost effective solution : 140 grade

I have been using Motul C1 and C2 for a long time. Now I have found a cost effective solution for chain maintenance. We can use Diesel for chain cleaning. Diesel is less volatile than kerosine or petrol..volatile liquid will damage o ring or x rings. Diesel is the way to go for chain cleaning.
For chain lubing, I have been using Motul C2 for all my bikes as long as I can remember. I switched to 90 grade gear oil a few months ago. I found that to be effective. I upgraded to 140 grade gear oil as this 140 grade sticks better and there is less splashing. I got similar performance from 140 grade oil and motul c2. 150 ml bottle of Motul C2 costs 250 rs and 1 ltr of 140 grade gear oil costs 400 rs. So gear oil is the cost effective solution for chain lubing. There is a con as well..chain must be cleaned at a regular interval of 1000 kms. Since the 140 grade oil is more viscous, it accumulates dust. So clean the chain regularly with diesel and wipe it off completely before lubing the chain.
