Hi Donnalouise, wow 🤩 the Canadian championships are unbelievably fast👀👍. We are huge fans of watching the competitions but we would explode in an ectoplasmic ball of stress 😂 if we competed. We really appreciate your love of this wonderful hobby. Keep well and warm wishes from Melbourne Australia 🥰🥰
Great job with the puzzle! It was just unfortunate that you haven't practiced the Astrology puzzle😂 Anyhow great job with the puzzle and great video! Ciao😊
I love watching puzzle competitions...its amazing how fast they can be done....when i did my first round one i didnt know where to start so i googled...I found another youtuber who suggested to do the edges first...ok, so I sorted them and I had so many edge pieces...they mostly looked the same to me...any chance of doing a video to show how to pick the edge pieces of a round puzzle?
Circle edge pieces are so dependent on the brand. With Ravensburger they are easy to find and pick out. But I did another brand which I can't quite remember the name now but I couldn't easily figure out all the pieces which were in the border. I do like doing the border first for a circle puzzle.
You and Ulla did amazing with the zodiac puzzle! The seashell one kicked mine and Jenna's butts LOL! we started out strong with the edges and the blues and greens and then lost so much momentum with the pinks and reds. I struggled to even see different textures! Still so much fun! Watching the Pairs final was so intense! No on can tell us that watching someone puzzle is boring!
Oh those Seashells!! That was all on Alison because those red/pinks kicked my butt!!! I don't know how I would do that on my own. I would be amazed if I finished it solo in under 2 hours. I might change from speed puzzler to speed puzzling watcher! hehehe
Well that was certainly intense! Well done with your times. The artist for Astrology is Katja Perez and for Seashells is Irina Diasli. Their names are on the back of the box. Look forward to seeing how you got on in the teams section.
Thank you for the artist names - I left the boxes in Canada and so, I only have the poster and no information is written on them. I actually thought "Astrology" was called "Zodiac" but got that corrected in time for this video. There were some really close times indeed!!!
I don’t know, I tried some Euro Jigsaw Jam online events and found really embarassing to be one of the slowest ones :-( on Saturday I go to my very first in person competition and I even convinced some family members to come with me as a team… I am really nervous about them and about the competition :-(
Try to go and just have fun. Think of it this way, if you took everyone in the world and raced a jigsaw puzzle against them, you would be faster than 90% of the World's population. Maybe even more like 99%! That's how I try to look at it. I do the same though and put pressure on myself to perform but in the end, I love doing pairs and teams - it's so much fun! Even if you come in last, try to have fun and go in the attitude that you are still faster than most puzzlers. Try not to put too much pressure on yourself and let me know how you get on.
Thank you for your nice words, I tried to keep them in mind during race day :-) the in person competition was less emarassing, as there was an amateurs’ league with a 2,5-hour time limit, and because I didn’t hear any commentary :-D the team event was quite fun, because my casual puzzler teammates turned out to be quite competitive, so we managed to finish both puzzles within the time limit - and we had fun :-)
My strategy for the circle ones is completely different. I prefer to to the border last, just because it takes up so much space. Great job for the Astrology puzzle, congrats! I just did it the last weekend with my 6yo daughter and I found it extremely hard.
I can see how it feels the circle puzzle take up a lot of room. At Worlds I didn't do my border first on the Poke Bowl because I didn't feel the border gave me any indication of orientation and where things were meant to go. I do think it helped me for Astrology but Alison maybe didn't think so. Fun puzzling with your daughter - future speed puzzler in training! 💜🧩
Donnalouise, I just want to say, I love your monkeyness. I don't think you need to apologize for being you. You are awesome and your family and friends are lucky to have you in their lives. And we are lucky that you share yourself with us. I'm glad you had fun at the competition.

Great job with the puzzle! It was just unfortunate that you haven't practiced the Astrology puzzle😂 Anyhow great job with the puzzle and great video! Ciao😊
We had a 50% chance of picking the right puzzle and still managed to muck it up hehehe Oh well, it's all good. Had the best time!
Looking forward to seeing the pairs competition.
The next video will be teams - hope you enjoy!

👏👏👏
After Australian Nationals, I’ve formed a team and we just did one of these Lane puzzles. It was so hard! So these teams did amazing times!
They really did amazing. I prefer illustrations to photographs but some can be very tricky! 💜🧩

@@7d3c0 That's wonderful! I'm so pleased to know that you had fun.
Fantastic times. I loved doing the origami one, I think it’s an Aimee Stewart one.
It is an Aimee Stewart image - I think I will go ahead and buy it for Alison and I to do together. It just looks like so much fun!

Of all the circle of colors puzzles you’ve ever done, which is your favorite?
Oh...good question! I think I really enjoyed both Animals and Donuts the most. 💜🧩
Whoah! I’ve only done a 500 in pairs in Australian races. 1k blows my mind, as do those times 😮
It's very impressive! Rhys and Sarah are so good puzzling together! And such a lovely couple 💜🧩

Thank you!! You comment means so much to me!! The competition was so much fun
What an amazing time! Aimee Stewart is the artist of the Art of Origami. Congratulations 🎉
Thank you!! I am going to try and get a copy of it for Alison and I to do for practice.
