    How exciting! Two of my favorite TH-cam puzzlers are going to the Canadian nationals! You and Donnalouise from For The Love Of Puzzles definitely need to meet up!!! I feel like the two of you together could be like clash of the nicest titans! ❤ I love these speed puzzling tips as I am trying to get my skills up as well! Keep up the great content!

      Thank you. I'm pretty sure Donnalouise is faster than me but I'm a work in progress.

    I'm so excited for you going to Canadian Nationals and Worlds! I'll be rooting for you. I thoroughly enjoyed your videos on the Canadian Nationals last year, you did an outstanding job.

    I am right there with you. I'm competing in my first speed puzzling competition in May! I'm doing individuals and teams and I'm super nervous, even though I know I'm not a competitive threat. My goal is just to finish within the time limit. And thank you for the tips! I'll be putting those into practice!

    Good to see that you are slowly improving with your times. 👍 As you said the image will determine how you tackle the puzzle. Doing the outside first is not always best particularly if it is all one colour. I've quite often left the outside to last when doing puzzles. If the puzzle contains blocks of a colour then I would get all those together whilst flipping. Sorting whilst flipping can be helpful, depending on the image! I've been timing myself with the Circle of Colors puzzles, my fastest was 1 hr 43 mins (Candies), the slowest was Poke Bowl at 2 hrs 49 mins. I still have another six to do with timing. ⏲ Great to hear that you are going to Worlds in September. 😃 However you do, it will be an amazing experience for you and anyone else new to it. No doubt you will see DonnaLouise when you go to the Canadian competition in May as she is also going. Look forward to your next video.

      I too have been practicing some Ravensburger Circle puzzles and that Poke Bowl took me much longer than I anticipated. Thanks for your advice.

    You are on the right track with your speed puzzling Sandra. There was the one puzzle here you did for 1 hour and 37 minutes. Excellent! You also chose some good challenging images and a good variety of images too. I agree and liked all the tips you gave us. What do you think about having puzzle trays? Are they good or not? Lots of people at the USA jigsaw speed puzzling competition had them but they did not necessarily helped the competitors do better. I wish you the best at the Canadian puzzling competition and Worlds😊🧩

      Thank you. I find that trays don't really help me get faster. I just put pieces in piles. However if I was doing a puzzle with one solid colour it might help. I use trays and boards when I casually puzzle because it helps me keep the pieces organized but for speed puzzling so far it has not helped me.

    Great improvements! I'm also trying to get a bit faster still for Spain 🤞🏻
    i also usually start with the edge, because i get sort of disoriented quite quickly with the sections. but I'm also trying to not always do that while speed puzzling. i'm currently checking if it would be better then to leave the edges in the piles anyway, to not lose those details, or also build some edge sections naturally and then only fill in the remaining ones later on. but it's a challenge to learn new strategies!

    This is great, thanks for sharing. Noticed you predominantly only use one hand, I'd suggest practicing using both more. Start by if you know a couple pieces are going to the same area grab them both. Even if you just pass it off to your right hand, you'll be closer to the area and not waste the time reaching back over to get another piece. With 500 pieces this can add up to a lot of time. If you start feeling comfortable placing some with your left also, EVEN BETTER! :) Just a suggestion. Keep up the great work, love the videos. (NOTE: I'm slower than you at the moment so take my advice with a grain of salt, but it IS something I'm working on and it's been helping me so I thought I'd pass along something someone smarter than me, shared with me when I started.)

      That's great advice. I've been working on using both hands but it is difficult to get into that habit. Recently I just did some small puzzles with my left hand and it felt awkward. I guess I'll need a lot more practice with that. Thanks for sharing.

    Wow, you're doing great Sandra! 🥳 My times started to improve quite drastically when I started to stand instead of sitting, but I wouldn't recommend that if it hurts... It used to hurt me, too, but then one day I noticed that I had just done a whole 500 piece puzzle while standing! 😂 Go figure... See you at worlds! 🙂

    I am very much looking forward to meeting you and Russell at Worlds! Crazily enough, at the moment there are more registered participants from little Austria than from Canada. Might soon change because there is a lot happening in Canada! 🙂

    Hi! Thanks for your videos and good luck on your speed puzzling journey! Question: What is the puzzle to your side there with the boats, water, sky, flowers? So pretty! Also, what brand is your pink thumb wrist brace?! :-)

    • @thepuzzlingcanadian
      @thepuzzlingcanadian  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That puzzle is called Sicilian Cove by the brand Elena Essex. The brand for my wrist brace is called Dr. Arthritis and I bought it on Amazon.

    Do you purchase every puzzle or trade with people? How often are you buying puzzles?

    • @thepuzzlingcanadian
      @thepuzzlingcanadian  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do buy and trade but I have to say I purchase more than trade. I buy from puzzle stores, thrift stores and facebook groups or marketplace. How often I buy really depends if there are new releases or if I am working on something. For example between May to August I was buying lots of 500 piece puzzles so I could train for Worlds. I do try to sell my puzzles once I'm done with them unless they are very special to me and I want to keep them in my collection.
