❣️I just had my mastectomy two days ago and I've watched this nearly every day the past week. It's absolutely imperative to know this information. Especially since I don't remember most of what they told me before I was discharged from the hospital and my husband couldn't be with me at the hospital because of their protocol due to COVID. TH-cam needs more videos like this! 💖 Sending prayers, good vibes, and positivity to all who are going through this. You will do great and remember to take it easy and not overuse your arm(s). Reach out if any questions!
I had my drain removed last week and a few days later fluid began to collect under the skin. I think I was too active, maybe because I did grocery shopping by myself on the weekend.. I developed a seroma at the bottom of the breast where my expander doesn’t reach. I went to have it drained yesterday and they removed over 600 CC of fluid! I’m about 30 days out from surgery.
I’ve learned so much from all of you! I’ll be having my bilateral mastectomy in a few weeks. All I can say is thank you for your strength and courage. Knowing what I’m up against is far less of a mental hurdle than before. I wish you peace, comfort, and strength!❤️
I have my surgery next week, and I was just thinking. When are they(doctors) going to decide to tell me about the drains? I hope not after surgery when I'm all drugged up. Of course they'll decide to do it then lol. I hope you have had a speedy recovery💜. Sending good vibes your way
I agree..most informative video I've seen. Can't believe only 1300 views. My wife is having surgery in two days, this video will be very helpful..great find. THANK YOU.
Great video! THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting on TH-cam! I will be having my surgery in AZ, but I know this information is invaluable where ever the surgery will be!
Hi Joy, I live in Sweden and we have some other routines here in Sweden and some are the same. I just want to thank you for your information that has been a great information for me even though I live in the other side of the world 🥰hope you don’t mind me writing.
This was soo very informative! I saved it to watch again because I literally have notes to take lol. Thank you for putting this together, I majorly appreciate it!
Great video! Thank you so kindly. More information than most videos. Please do another, updated techniques, recovery information, etc. Indispensable information!
Thank you so much. This was so helpful! I watched it 8 weeks ago right before my double mastectomy and 3 lymph nodes removed with immediate reconstruction straight to implant. I was confident handling my 4 drains and had things in order for my return (bed, mastectomy pillow for car, supplies, shower chair, lanyard, mastectomy vests & hoodies, a mastectomy pillow bed, recliner, 2wks of meals in freezer, etc.) Thank you SO much. I am recovering very well because I followed all of these recommendations.
Thank you I had my cancerous Tumor Removed when I was 50 also my lymph-nodes. Did chemo and radiation Now age 58 in remission I have decided to go have a mysectomy due to the radiation side now weakened and not in line with my right non cancerous breast. I will go over this video very much. 🙏🏼
I had my mastectomies over 9 months ago. I went through having my drains in I followed everything my doctor & my care team told me to do. I am doing stomach exercises to flatten my belly. Because I was bloated & swollen from the mastectomies. I had a stomach as it was from being overweight. And after my surgery it made the bloat worse. Then I still get constipated so I increased my fiber intake. I walked with my drains in but I was really careful. That was why I got both of them removed. I had two drains put in before I left the hospital. I was glad when I finally got to do normal activities again. It takes a lot of patients to go through this surgery. If I didn't have Cancer I would of never done what I did.
Very helpful, but I am in the UK, and oncology here have mentioned none of this to me! I am due for a single mastectomy in about 3 weeks. Where do I get a heart pillow? Do Amazon have them?
When you work comptinitive jobs, when will you beable to go back to work. I move my arms all the time, about 10 hours a day. I push, pull, lift, reach all day long. I will be getting a Mastectomy in about 2 weeks. And I can lift about 20lbs throughout the day. So when will beable to go back to work, and will I lose some of my mobility after getting my ducts out near and under my armpit, and how long will it last.
I will undergo this surgery on 09/09/24. I hope my fate won’t be cruel to me and I can enjoy the life after triple negative breast cancer as long as I can🙏🏻😌
Very specific to whatever cancer center made this video. Some information presented is contradictory. (this is not a painful surgery, then starts discussing narcotics for pain control🤔) A lot of the issues only apply to women who aren't having any reconstruction. The drain information is pretty standard.

I had my cancerous Tumor
Removed when I was 50 also my lymph-nodes.
Did chemo and radiation
Now age 58 in remission
I have decided to go have a mysectomy due to the radiation side now weakened and not in line with my right non cancerous breast.
I will go over this video very much. 🙏🏼
I think radiation treatment is way overused and very damaging to normal tissue, worse than chemo.
Thank you for this extremely helpful video
I had a simple mastectomy 5 weeks ago. This video was very helpful! Highly recommend.
What do you mean simple mastectomy ? Flat?
I had a preventative bilateral mastectomy. Best decision due to high risk. You video really helped me get thru it.
Great information in this video!
Thanks so much for making this! Great info!

Wish my drains were like that. I have huge hard plastic circles. They are heavy by themselves.

Thank you very much.
I am doing mastectomy in two weeks. Information very helpful. Thanks.

Well, everyone's pain thresholds are different for sure. There are some good videos out there for those having reconstruction.
My surgery was not painful but I did take some low dose pain killers to be on the safe side. Only for a few days. I was fine after that.
Maybe the expected pain level is relative to other more painful types of surgery.
