    Great walkthrough Terminator! I usually invade southern Italy rather than consolidate the balkan provinces. You’re right about Rome! Fighting against Rome is not only hard but also quite tedious with supplies and lack of manpower. I can’t remember how I got through but basically i tried to preserve my elephants and phalangites with less casualties as possible. Spamming trash units low tier hoplites is the only way to preserve it but thats my old method.

    Hammer and envil is the best strategy of the ancient times. Also: flank your missile units over your left flank (not right) to attack the weapon right side of the ennemies, more damage done than against their shield side !! Missiel flank left, peltasts and sword or falx units on the right flanking, cavalry also on the right to open up the ennemy towards your front line push assault.

    Focusing on Rome first is actually a really effective play as Epirus. You have elephants, which can easily destroy Rome’s armies at start.

    Hey, can you do top 10 lists of AoR Units in certain areas? The areas would be multiple provinces, for example, the Roman list, the AoR units would be selected from Cisalpine Gual, Latium, Magna Graecea, and Sicily respectively. The Hellas list would come from Hellas, Makedonia, then lastly whatever Province Pergamon and Pontus start out in.
    You get the gist, but here's some more.
    The "Near Barbarians" would focus on the AoR Units in Thrace, Illyria, Dacia, and Pannonia, The "Indian" list would all focus on the provinces at the very easternmost provinces of the map.
    Particular favorites of mine are the Sica-bearers, who are Thureos Swordsmen before Thureos Reforms, who have superior attack but less armor. The non-mercenary version of the Balearic Slingers, and of course my biggest favorite of them all, The Dart Slinger, who just simply devastate all enemies they shoot with little resistance!

    I recommend smashing Rome as quickly as possible, before they become too dangerous. Take Cosentia and Beneventum asap and hold Beneventum as a shield against Roma while you raid Asculum for all it is worth. Remember, you can always take a province with the option that gives you 9k+ gold, and just abandon it later. That was how I financed my war with Rome. I think I raided Asculum three times that way, and Ariminum once, before moving in to actually capture it. A great benefit with focusing on Rome early (apart from the obvious) is that Latium is probably the most OP province in the entire game with 3 strategic resources. In my Epirus game about turn 70 it is making me 12k+ per turn.
    Also a top tip for Rome 2: You can abuse night battles against the AI to take out their armies one by one. Fun fact, in Three Kingdoms, the AI will do that to you too :D

    • @ziosam850
      @ziosam850 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you shed some light on night battles? In what way they affect ai?

    • @danielkristiansen2298
      @danielkristiansen2298 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ziosam850 AFAIK the AI does not choose the night battle trait in DeI. At least in my experience. This means that you can destroy the AI armies in battles the AI would not otherwise accept. E.g. a not-quite-fullstack that would otherwise withdraw may accept a battle because the AI thinks it will get the other full stack that is within reinforcement range. Surprise, night battle! The AI army does not get any reinforcements, and you can wipe them out with few casualties for your army. I hope that was clear enough :P
      The AI during the battle itself does not change.

      @ziosam850 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@danielkristiansen2298 thx for clarification, i had the suspect that ai could go dumb during night battles in DEI, but now it's clearer for me when to use the option for night battle

    I have tried the Epirus campaign thrice, and it has ended the same way every time: I ally with the Etruscans and Athenians, wipe out Rome, then I enter an inescapable period of stagnation because rebellions break out in Latium every turn and my armies are not replenishing. The Illyrians usually declare war and sack my coastal towns, whereas Carthage sends a couple of full stacks up from Sicily to finish me off.

    The elephant allows you to fight both Rome and Macedonia, Sparta, Athena. The only problem is starting Rome army of heavy units (spearmen’s). Use elephants as chariots, they literally crush units, if they have same/lighter mass. Even on hard it works.

    Disagree on general strategy.. Take magna grecia immediately. Push into Italy immediately. Spend all your money on armies, pikemen, archers, and mercenaries as you go. Letting the Romans build up will only make things increasingly difficult. Rome does not have sufficient armies to match you at the beginning.

  • @imperatorromanorum_official

    If you want to try that on VH/VH there is a way that is doable. You can sack and then liberate many Italian nations. You gain a lot of money (through trade + sack) and allies against Rome. WIth the money, you should buy mercenaries :)

    • @TheTerminatorGaming
      @TheTerminatorGaming  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fair enough, DEI 1.2.8 limits the mercenaries so that's why I didn't go down that route, but it's definitely possible as you say. Especially if you use liberations :)

    Epirus starts at war with 2 power factions (rome, qart)and it means no peace untill you finish each other(its stupid). And you are not in war with them only, you fight with veneti and all african tribes. At start you just hope nobody attack you at home.
    My 1st strategy (1st campaign in dei) i went full on rome an that was kind a mistake but i manage it. Secure italy than move to sicily but leave 1 army on north coz of pirates and nothern gauls. Grind battles against qart and after sicily taken build fleet then slowly move to sardinia and corsica.
    Then take macedonia and rest is easier but dont invade africa (like i did) for a while just defend islands with 2 fleets. Rest is much easy.
    2nd strategy that i will try but just for fun.
    Rush cosentia and beneventum and make them military allies than go asculum military aly than subjugate rome or destroy. Go take macedonia than hellas and aly with thrace and tolistobogi.
    Than go asia slowly while you defeating qart with fleet ask ransom so you get money and relation bonus while you can take transports easy.

    I very much prefer rushing rome... Before they get their first reforms, Epirus actually has BETTER units, both in the case of value and actual ability to go toe to toe with Romans. Rome starts out weak and scattered, focusing on a war that the AI somehow manages to fumble... Easy win, and you either get a great province, or a ton of money from loot-sack exploiting.
