I am still waiting for them to DEI-fy the Empire Divided campaign which is my favorite. They could make it start a few years later and add Attila to the mix =)
Time to create Rome 3 with mechanics from Rome 1+2+Attila and upgrade this for realism in game. Honestly, I play the DEI mod with a submod for realism, but it doesn’t keep me in the game anyway.I have over 2300 hours in Roma 2 and I understand that the game is poorly made (CA had huge potential, but modders make games better than studio developers). Now I'm playing the Remaster in the RIS mod and I like this better. The official game from CA should be similar to this mod. RIS is much larger than DEI. Both are better than vanilla. I would like to see a mixture of all this in the original game.
DEI is the main reason I’ve got 4,600 hours on Rome 2 ❤️ combined with the AAA generals, HD Greek and Roman reskins and a few graphic mods like Orbis it’s honestly my favourite total war to date 🙌

I played Rise Of Republic for about 6 hours on hard. I was winning the battles but public order , rebellion's and enemy navies created a crazy 3 front war. Light troops have lots of missiles. I moved over to Caesar in Gaul. Town garrisons are trash. The extra missile fire wipes the floor with Italian swords and town guard. Defending a walled city was a waste of time. The Arverni scaled the walls a cut their way through the defenders like they were armed civilians. The field battles seem pretty good. I guess I will have to see how the campaign progresses on normal def.

Does anybody know a way to start the DEI grand campaign at later time, having already legionaries instead of principes/triarii etc., but still an early Rome not yet divided by civil wars?
The problem is: The new map modding tool called CAIME only works with Attila+. The last I know, it is not possible to combine the battle and campaign maps in Rome2 (so that it is displayed geographically correctly).
Better to port the existing version to Shogun 2 and continue development there. Rome2 is a bad TW and so its a weak base for a mod, especially one of this grandeur
The AI has gotten so smart, in battles they wheel their troops to cover their backs if you try to flank them and play pretty sound on the strategic map...
Please do some changes to the family tree. A way to rank your family members. Now when a general/admiral dies you need to have written down a list over your members with best potensial. In late game you have quite a few.
This mod is so great already but i think it has to overhaul empire divided also in the future. I honestly do like vanilla Empire divided but i would like to see what DEI team has to offer in this campaign.
Can people weight in, I have gone back to R2 for years now and amazing mods like DEI have been there biggest reason.. But I'm curious if people can weigh in on if this actually feels different. Have they been able to overcome a lack of a family tree, add politics, use a population system like Ancient Empires, update map so Cities like Syracuse aren't minor settlements? The problem with the expansion of the map and the small number of cities is not with the modders, but with the CA developers. They did not provide the opportunity to change the map from the release of the game.
Veteran DEI player and active member of their discord here. There is family tree, there is political power play and there is a population system in fact Ancient Empires got it FROM DEI. The Rise of the Republic campaign got a major overhaul and now it is easily the best Rome 2 campaign. Regarding the map stuff it is not possible for Rome 2 modders to edit settlements, the actual layout of the map and the campaign map itself, CA never made it possible.
My biggest annoyance is when city slots are on top of each other on the campaign map. So like a temple and a barracks are both on the campaign map occupying the same position. It looks so bad.
Ciertamente que el DeI es el mejor Mod para el Rome 2. Con la nueva actualización la jugabilidad se hace más inmersiva. Oh thank god, RotR Roman changes. Velites and merc archers. Now they won't be the weakest faction. The Romans really had no way to compete against the Greeks or Etruscans except in close quarters with your best Roman troops, which meant a lot of casualties even if you had a near-perfect engagement. Especially against any precursor units, like the Samnites love to use, but all factions have them. Also glad to see the Veneti horse getting a slight nerf on their javs, they were acting basically like Tarantine/Numidian hybrids. Veneti were good horsemen, but they weren't skirmisher horse, they were more a light/heavy combo as needed. I used their horse javs to ABSURD effect in my last campaign.

But have they fixed the Single city doomstacks that have been a part of Total War since Shogun 2? Because none of these games have been fun past the mid game because of this one issue above any others. Why a single city, or better yet one minor town, faction can even field 1 full stacked army is beyond me but them having 3 or 4???
I'm a TW veteran and I've tried the mod but I've found it really difficult, too difficult to have fun. I tried playing as Rome but enemies were way to strong. Is this how it's supposed to be or should I try an easier faction?
You just have to weather the storm vs Carthage as Rome, then you're good. (Mod is also balanced for normal/normal, not sure what difficulty you're playing on).
The only flaw i can really find with DEI is how pike formations are still just ridiculously overpowered. I really want to play a Epirus campaign, but when 1 full stack army can just walk through anything that the AI throws at you it really ruins the fun to me.
