from a business perspective its never a good decision to cannibalize a player-base with two con-current games that are in the same genre. i imagine on the full release of smite 2 if they are starving for players, they need to deprecate smite 1 and incentivize players to finally make the transition to their new game. otherwise its not a question of IF they fail with smite 2 but WHEN
also, as much as i can respect CCs like weak3n and the pro scene, thats not what carries a game to prosperity. the need for casuals is for every existing game, but more specifically, for PvP games. COD wouldnt exist if it was just CCs and pros. they couldnt fill any meaningful lobby if we bein real. theyd get like 70 players in heavy rotation if that was the case.

I mean I am no conquest player, I like my joust and other modes (excluding arena) and like changing modes every 2-3 matches to keep it relatively fresh. Once like they incorporate the variety of game modes and maps, is when I would try out smite 2.

Siege warfare, and cannon fire, made castles and defending them, irrelevant to the point they didnt even knock them down. they just stopped using them.
400k split between 4+ teams is 200k for 1st. That's 40k each, after taxes that's 28k each. That is 5 people(out of 80) making $28k for 7 months of work. Yeah sure bud

No new mechs, old items bloated lack of stats in a lot of new items etc etc. it is alpha though but like how long must an alpha be before you go "alright slow down on new gods and start polishing please" Also like tier 2s need to have nuance and power spikes only the mask and eye are good power spike items and they're both for mages.

The problem is, they conformed to those whales who aren't even going to play anyways since their skins aren't 1 to 1. So they killed their game for their stillborn playerbase, instead of really trying to capture a new audience that would GAF.
only thin i believe in is data. people tell me i have hot takes all the time and crit isn't good in smite 2 and ymir isn't good. if i say something i usualy follow it up by showing the damage and how it works. and right now crit plus ymir is really good. people try to say ymir is easily outplayed but that's just a skill thing and skill is relative. doesn't make a god not good. mechanics and the damage does.

There is no correlation. West has zero high-level players on it
