I've lost count of how many times I've watched this over the years, it is still the absolutely best performance of this duet I've ever seen and apart from the magnificent voices, it really highlights the difference it makes when singers can also act.
Both of them really got the "spirit" of this marvelous, entertaining duet by Rossini, who was himself a great composer with a wonderful sense of humor. You've got to sing well and to make this duet funny because of its interpretation and acting, and not because you're singing badly, and these two excellent - and beautiful - sopranos made everything sound beautiful and funny at the same time, as it should be. ;-)

I was looking for the classic Cat Duet with the two choir boys and I saw this one. While the boys are charming this is now my favorite version. You ladies really struck the impression of two cats having an argument, it was both hilarious and impressive singing.
This one doesn't sacrifice ANY acting for musicianship or ANY musicianship for acting. Stunning vocals and hilarious visuals. Also made me think about the fact that the first part of meow is actually the word "me" lol you guys brought it out in the best way.

Absolutely stunning - - -i just finished watching a boys and girls choir do it; with the added 'acting humour' - and sent that to a friend for her birthday. I was in choirs when i was younger and wished they'd given us something fun and challenging like this to do. Both you and Adrienne are perfect cats!

The first cat I had when I first settled in Athens as a kid, was actually trying to change the radio station when he didn't like the genre. He once scrached my hand for listening too much metal! If he were still alive today he would love my TH-cam playlists, because he finally convinced me that his taste was better than mine.

Now I know cats are very intelligent, but back then, 30 years ago, a cat searching for his favorite music really astonished me. In fact, it profoundly changed my musical landscape. Let me explain. I was born in the Middle East and never set foot in the New World, but I inherited the tastes of my old folks - you know, what a young couple of American academics would have listened to in the glorious late 60s. I never paid attention to various local musics until I was old enough to no longer have to follow them into their new academic posts. Bless their souls, but the wisest decision of my life was not to follow them to Central Asia in those last days of the Soviet Empire. So, I am grateful to my first real Greek friend, my cat, who introduced me to Greek folk music, long before the West discovered rebetiko. It opened my mind, I discovered and loved classical, jazz, world music, however I still listen to metal to my neighbors detriment.

As a ...cat and as a music lover I admit I loved this video. It's quite old, but still remains the best redition of the 'due gatti' you can find in youtube (with only exception that one of Caballé/Martí, which is less theatrical and it's sound is somehow bad), though many tried and done pretty well since. And, for those who question the lyrics, if they knew the language they would be deeply moved. Yes, opera can be fun. This piece is a first-class opportunity for a performer to demonstrate her vocal (and acting) abilities, but without the extravagance of a scholarly approach - provided, of course, that she won't laugh more than the audience. It's not as easy as it seems. You have to bring on stage both the opera tradition and the echo of real cats' "dialoge", all in a playful approach. Great!

As a ...cat and as a music lover I admit I loved this video. It's quite old, but still remains the best redition of the 'due gatti' you can find in youtube (with only exception that one of Caballé/Martí, which is less theatrical and it's sound is somehow bad), though many tried and done pretty well since. And, for those who question the lyrics, if they knew the language they would be deeply moved. Yes, opera can be fun. This piece is a first-class opportunity for a performer to demonstrate her vocal (and acting) abilities, but without the extravagance of a scholarly approach - provided, of course, that she won't laugh more than the audience. It's not as easy as it seems. You have to bring on stage both the opera tradition and the echo of real cats' "dialoge", all in a playful approach. Great!
