Was just looking up live sets of this and your vid came up. As a recent One among the fence that's trying to learn a lot of these songs on guitar, I thank you so much for this! That fast riff always caught my attention and I knew I wanted to learn it. This makes that little dream a reality now. Love how you teach and very easy to follow! Thanks again and keep up the awesome vids!
No matter what I do I cannot get down that quick lick you show off around 7:40. I've been trying for 12 years. Do you have any tips on it? Do you pick each note when you're playing it fast or do you use hammer-ons and pull-offs to get it down quickly?
It's not quite right as demonstrated here, maybe the other guitarist does it that way but it doesn't seem right to me. You can see in live videos Claudio himself plays it up at the 8th fret and it includes some hammer ons/pull offs and stuff cause his picking hand is not moving all that it much, he doesn't alternate pick it. You can see him do it in this video pretty clearly at the 0:28 mark: th-cam.com/video/4KIqHsp2j40/w-d-xo.html
@@blakedoingthings It's still so hard to see but you're right he's playing something else. The tab and how it's played in this tutorial video have never sounded quite right to me.
Rick, loving your Coheed lessons. Could you tackle "Toys" off their Unheavenly Creatures album? Would love a breakdown on that one. Rocks so damn hard. You're the man, keep it up.
Thanks so much man! I actually got a request for toys last week so it’s on the list, going to do Toys and Old Flames off the newest record plus a few acoustic tracks as well coming up in the next few weeks. Appreciate the support!
Lol never a nuisance man! I appreciate all the support. I’ve gotten more requests for song lessons than I ever imagined (I initially assumed no one would even watch these) I’m gonna sit down with the Davenport cabinet song this weekend and come up with a breakdown for sure. Also doing some more acoustic Coheed, as well as lessons for Neverender, Old Flames, Toys, NWFT all on the list. Stay tuned man!
Im @ 2 minutes 46 seconds into the video and i think I’m hearing the opening riff for “delirium trigger” in the solo of “faint of hearts” Is faint of hearts in D minor?
Their song composing and constructed guitars are the sickest 😉
that quick lick aT 7:50 has been the bain of my existence for months. I still can't do it fast
I love when you bring the guitar closer to the camera like 👁👄👁🎸
Thanks for the breakdown Rick can't find anyone else who breaks down songs/solos as easliy as you do!
Of course! This one is still one of my favorite lessons I’ve done. Love this intro solo. Have fun with it!
I'd love to see a lesson on the acoustic version of this song! Such a banger on acoustic or electric

I freaking love this song. I hope I'm not being a nuisance, but is some Davenport Cabinet still on the request list?
