Acute pancreatitis is an inflammatory condition of the pancreas most commonly caused by biliary tract disease or alcohol abuse. Damage to the pancreas causes local release of digestive proteolytic enzymes that autodigest pancreatic tissue. Acute pancreatitis usually presents with epigastric pain radiating to the back, nausea and vomiting, and epigastric tenderness on palpation. The diagnosis is made based on the clinical presentation, elevated serum pancreatic enzymes, and findings on imaging (CT, MRI, ultrasound) that suggest acute pancreatitis. Treatment is mostly supportive and includes bowel rest, fluid resuscitation, and pain medication. Enteral feeding is usually quickly resumed once the pain and inflammatory markers begin to subside. Interventional procedures may be indicated for the treatment of underlying conditions, such as ERCP or cholecystectomy in gallstone pancreatitis. Localized complications of pancreatitis include necrosis, pancreatic pseudocysts, and abscesses. Systemic complications involve sepsis, ARDS, organ failure, and shock and are associated with a considerable rise in mortality.

Thank you! I have had 3 episodes of acute pancreatitis which resulted in hospitalization. I am a recovering alcoholic (1.5 years sober) and my issues were 100% caused by alcohol. I've never been in so much pain, it felt like getting stabbed in the abdomen. I'm very thankful to my physicians and I'm thankful to be sober. If you have a problem with substance abuse, please don't be afraid to seek help. Dying from pancreatitis would be a horrible way to die.

Last night I had acute pancreatitis from gallstones blocking the common bile duct and it was the most painful thing I have ever experienced in my whole life! I thought I was a goner and my pancreas was going to explode! The doctors took blood samples and gave me morphine to calm down which only effected for half an hour then it came back but suddenly when I change the position I was laying down the pain just completely went away and I felt so good they said the stones are now clear of your bile duct and the way is open again I was super happy about that but now I don't want have the pain again so I'm gonna remove my gallbladder asap
How your stones are removed from bile duct? Can you suggest me what is the best treatment for stone in pancreas..My father is sick now... please guide me.

i had pancreatitis 3 months ago, caused by the use of imodiom and lanzoprasol...
it hurts like nothing else, in the ambulance i had 5 shots with fentanyl and it didn't help... i was crying from pain, i dont see my self as a cry baby.... been at work before with 20 plus stitches in my arm after accident..... but i would rather have my leg or arm riped off without anestsia, than experience pancreatitis again...

In addition to medicines, Boil one leaf/flower of tumeric rinsed first in half litre of water/rice with some garlic, oignon and parsley for some 15 to 30 minutes in the morning. Add a spoon of pure olive oil to soup when eating.
A very good remedy to pancreatic illness.

Sir I am a 16 year old girl I had first episode of Acute pancreatitis in Dec 2019 (amylase 2900 lipase 3900)
I was also affected by ARDS pneumonia and was in ICU for 15 days
with normal lifestyle I got another episode in March 2020 then with no pain during lockdown it recurred in June 2023 and again in Jan 2024 I don't have any of the prominent causes no alcohol no gall stones nothing I am in treatment from SGPGI ....my doctors suspect I have genetical cause but there's no history of pancreatitis or diabetes in my family so how did I got it genetically and how can I be completely cured is there even a chance of getting completely cured?

I have pain under my left breast and feel a painless lump while pressing, I have pain while sitting for more extended periods of time. It's about 1 year every doctor says it's a muscular pain and gives medicines for it. one of my family doctors says I have a gas issue I took a lot of medicines for stomach, reflux, and muscular pain but not getting well. what I can do about it?
Did doctors do an Ultrasound of breasts or any Biopsy from the lump which you feel??….It is possible that the lump is only a layer of fat which you feel, so without an ultrasound it is very difficult to identify..
