It show's their confidence and allowing dissenting opinions (to a point) can be leveraged and morphed into 'they're tolerant/not THAT bad/understanding' really reinforcing the strength of their ideals/system.... Even totalitarian regimes can use this tactic to seem tolerant and open, though they never reach tipping points.

I hope that he is not bought by that which he wishes to change.
This video just litterally sealed his fate. The most quintessential element of Japanese culture is mitigating risk. He has a TH-cam channel where he is in contact with other former Boryokudan. It's as simple as six degrees of separation. Yes, racism exists for Koreans in Japan, no one who lives here can deny it. But to have a chance, he would need to be like a wax sculpture in order to win favour. He's out of his depth. Why do I feel like he used Vice as a way to get attention for his small businesses, and his youtube channel. That seems more likely of all of this.
So... an ex Japanese Yakuza member... now runs girls in Akhibara... and is now a Korean Yakuza Boss... AND wants to be voted into political office.... Sure, why not. What could possibly go wrong? 🤣
I don't know much about the yakuza but he said his boss died while in prison and when he got out other yakuza clans were trying to get him to join. I feel like the idea of changing gangs is extremely difficult to grasp in American culture. Here it's till death do us part, over there it seems till my boss croaks.

Very high quality Vice seem to get back on its root for a while
Does it seem strange to anyone else that apparently there’s at least one North Korean school in Japan that idolizes the Kim family? Like, why would Japan permit a school that idolizes an aggressor nation?
It show's their confidence and allowing dissenting opinions (to a point) can be leveraged and morphed into 'they're tolerant/not THAT bad/understanding'
really reinforcing the strength of their ideals/system.... Even totalitarian regimes can use this tactic to seem tolerant and open, though they never reach tipping points.
Bc freedom.
I mean japan back then is also isolationist, i think they understand
We need a part 2 of this 🙌
ONLY GANGSTER KNOWS THAT 3 DOTS MARK OR TATTOO ON HIS RIGHT ARM 5:57 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
This has to be how the story of Seongjun of Viral Hit ended irl. I refuse to believe otherwise.
Maaaaaan I swear I was thinking about Viral Hit too when he started talking about Zainichi Koreans and then I saw your comment haha 🤝✌️( also Gun and his father Yamazaki Shingen from Lookism too )
Incredible journalism
Lol this dude is Yakuza without the title. He runs a protection racket and his free magazine is rife with ads for escorts so he is in the human trafficking game as well.
Bro what the f@ck are you even saying? 😭😭😭
average background of an Indian political aspirant :
is it just me or doesn't this still sound like extortion?
*pulls off pinky*
"Taaaadaaaa"
💀
裏の反社から表の反社になりたいって事ですね。
This guys gangster ideals are the same as when he was18 just painted in a more flattering way
100%
If this young man means what he says, then he is speaking for a lot of people. I dont imagine changing the system from within would be easy in Japan, this is rare enough in liberal democracies for working class or underworld people to get the opportunity. I hope that he is not bought by that which he wishes to change.
This is that real vice 👌
Yakuza's are so adaptable they even becoming TH-camrs now 😂

Grandma, why were you hiding your OG roots from me this whole time?!
"because of the implication..."
2:43 THE TRUTH!! I like this guy!
That magazine fee is the new mob money protection plan lmao
This video just litterally sealed his fate. The most quintessential element of Japanese culture is mitigating risk. He has a TH-cam channel where he is in contact with other former Boryokudan. It's as simple as six degrees of separation. Yes, racism exists for Koreans in Japan, no one who lives here can deny it. But to have a chance, he would need to be like a wax sculpture in order to win favour. He's out of his depth. Why do I feel like he used Vice as a way to get attention for his small businesses, and his youtube channel. That seems more likely of all of this.
hahah he going be d%e soon bay the Yakuza there sill run japen
n shutup
just like racism in Korea against Japnaese, thats how it is...
А ссылка на его канал есть?
He's going around and collecting protection money on camera. O.o
YEAH BRO WTFFF HAHAHAH XD
So...
an ex Japanese Yakuza member...
now runs girls in Akhibara...
and is now a Korean Yakuza Boss...
AND wants to be voted into political office....
Sure, why not. What could possibly go wrong? 🤣
If hes been in and out of prison how can he run for let alone hold office in this country a dui disqualifies you from most political standings
he's probably like the independent parties in the US , they'll never win but they can bring topics forward
@@snakepl1skin 100%
I thought I have seen this interview already 🤯
Bruh imagine if your choices when you vote for local office were between a corporate overlord and the felonious porn lord.
Im a brazilian fan, very nice content, i love watch vice videos.. make me feel in another world
The only difference in gangsters and politicians is what type of clothes they were
Interesting that Hashimoto has the support of Japanese rapper (1:27) Kan a.k.a. Gami in the beginning of the video.
Most polite extortionist ever.
やめたとはゆうがヤクザは一生ヤクザでしょ
I once asked a korean guy if he was japanese. That did not go over well.
And we are just supposed to believe that the yakuza is just going to let this guy walk away?! I mean am I fucken missing something?!
They aren't like in the movies, why would they bother getting arrested
I don't know much about the yakuza but he said his boss died while in prison and when he got out other yakuza clans were trying to get him to join. I feel like the idea of changing gangs is extremely difficult to grasp in American culture. Here it's till death do us part, over there it seems till my boss croaks.
His boss died, and his family basically disbanded. He didn't have to leave because it was already gone.
Great vid vice! Never disappointed :)
Now these dudes are real gangsters period you wouldn’t want to cross them or owe them anything
from gangsta to real gangsta.
Nah nah illegal gangsta to legal gangsta 💀
Japan like other Countries have crooked politicians, Yakuza might have gone from public view but they are intertwined with business/politics.
6:05 bruh this is literally protection money, how can dis b allow
Just realized that when I stayed in Japan this was the same train station I would take everyday.
Respect the guy the past traumas and difficulties he faced made him the person he is today 👌
It feels like this man somehow blackmailed Vice into making a video about him
Corruption 101 lmao dudes an organized gangster
Wait this guy is still collecting "protection money" from people.. i guess old habits die hard
What's the difference between a politician and a gangster anyways?
This is like that Yakuza video game for Playstation.
He is still getting protection money.. Old habits die hard
Nah...I'm still voting for Godzilla.
"The Showa era was naughty, chaotic, and violent."
Naughty?
5:58 isn't this just extortion?? Lol
This was posted before,wasn’t it?
But change my mind a normal house in America is more likely to shoot someone than yakuza.
5:08 how can we in America obtain his free newspaper?😂
I feel like VICE is giving this guy an advertisement for his underage underground market
This bloke seems alright, might make a good politician but am I the only one thinking that his legal business seems alot like a yakuza style protection racket?
"Advertising agency"?. Never heard of extortion being put that way. But its brilliant 😆 works for everyone apparently .Cartels in mexico need to learn that subtleness.they need to start saying theyre doin advertising
theres no way the vice crew took this guy's word at face value, right..?
Going political is just a "upgraded gangster"
vice please bring something from countrys what not yet seen on ur channel maybe suriname
Best magic trick ever!
am I trippen or did I miss the reason why he was all beat up ?
Gangsters and politicians are distinctions without much difference.
That little poodle is extremely cute
