      @@gie5669 Well, shortly after posting this note, the chrono failed. The little tab that the reset pusher bears on broke off. I am trying to source a replacement part from Sugess, but their customer service needs some work.

      No hope of getting replacement parts from Sugess, but the failure was my own fault. I must have bashed the reset button into something, as that is the only way this particular part could have failed. Movements are cheap, so I bought one on AliExpress and cannibalized it to get the broken reset pusher part. This watch is a very good buy at this price.

    I think it's important for a brand like Sugess to exist, even though their watches aren't as good the Swiss counterparts, they really show how much Swiss watch companies overcharge for their products.

      Yes, I do, may have just said it wrongly.
      Lange is a grail brand for me, and is one of the brands I've invested a lot of my time into learning about. They are at the forefront of complicated watchmaking, up there with Patek.
      Glashutte, to me, is like a more affordable version of Lange. Though sadly, it's very clearly not as popular. I also like Nomos.

Bought the Sugess Blancpain Air Command homage a month ago, and that watch was so good and good looking, that made me pull the trigger on this one as well. I think Sugess has a great build quality. You can feel it handling the watch. It is very hard to describe and review. Got this a year ago with the white dial and markers instead of roman numeral printing. It's indeed a stunning piece beyond my expectation for the price i paid. It could easily rival Orient or Seiko given it's quality and asking price. Still in honeymoon with it and the movement never fail to amaze me. The only concern would be how should it be serviced after a couple of years.

    How long have you kept the movement running? Imo, for the moonphase to be somewhat useful, you would need to keep it running for a least a month, I mean what fun is having to set the moonphase every 2 days right?

    • @Tone_SA

      I wind it every few days, and keep the time by just setting the time forward after the watch stops

  • @aarinisles

    Does the moon phase advance automatically or do you have to advance it with the setting button? I got a “chronograph” in this price range, knowing it was a gamble, and some of the functions have to be set manually every day. I’m just amazed I can get a piece of machinery like this for the price even if things don’t function as they should.

    I was initially quite happy with this watch. For the first few months it worked well and was keeping good time. Sadly, this didn't last. First feature to fail was the chronograph, which became intermittent until the start/stop pushers finally gave up the ghost and wouldn't respond at all. Gradually the seconds hand (small sub version) began to work erratically until it and the main movement stopped completely and hasn't worked since. This was so disappointing because initially it offered so much and at such an amazing price The finish looked good and comparable to anything the Swiss could achieve. But in the end it's all a bit skin deep. I may well have been unlucky as other owners seem well contented with their watches and the Seagull chronograph movement has been around for quite a while. At the moment this watch remains in its box, looking quite splendid but actually quite useless.

    • @Tone_SA
      @Tone_SA  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thats sad to hear, very unlucky for you. I think its pretty common for chronographs to fail due to the stress a chrono movement is usually under. Thats the reason why some brands dont recommend overuse of the chrono function. Hopefully, someone will fix it for you for cheap!

      @@Tone_SA That's one of the problems with Chinese movements - finding a watchmaker or retail watch business willing to undertake a repair. So far I've been unsuccessful and have tried online as well as discussing with my local retailers.
