I just went to a dealership yesterday and was talking to a salesman about a used Toyota truck (4.0L V6) and he tried to show me these trucks (turbo v4) and I laughed and said those are a joke and will not last 100k miles without severe issues. He basically nodded in agreement. They’re not selling these trucks very much at all.

The best thing consumers can do is not to grace the doors of dealerships, even to service their used vehicles. No foot or wheel traffic, no customer gets screwed and maybe, just maybe, the dead from the neck up management of dealerships will begin to advocate for the people they need most, their customers!

Same situation with Toyota Landcuiser 79 series trucks. Went from reliable V8 turbo diesel engine in 2024 to now 2.8 4 cylinder engine…. & charging pretty the same price.
They can keep them. A four cylinder turbo means high RPM and low engine life. I have owner two Tundras. The first one was the smaller version and had a V6. The latter one was the V8. After many miles the engines showed no signs of wear. They burned no oil and could tow anything. There was nothing wrong with them when I traded them in. Gasoline engines are essentially air compressors. If you can get more air through the engine then you get more horsepower. The same goes by running them at more RPM. What a buch of lidiots for designing and making them this way.
My 2024 Hybrid has very low RPMs. I am fully satisfied with this truck so far. Most of the whiners and complaining of this truck are people that do not own one.

as soon as i saw the msrp for the new gen back in late 2023, i went ahead and went for a loaded 23 frontier pro4x that was already discounted 5k and had then discount another 1k and never looked back

There's was one woman on TH-cam that wanted to show how great the mileage was in her 2024. She guy about the table mileage for the conditions that I get in my 2022. And she probably left that plastic lip on. They put on the cheap plastic lip specifically for the EPA mileage. They expect you to take it off. The realistic mileage between gen 3 and gen 4 is basically the same.
Consumers are also the problem. They want their trucks to feel like luxury vehicles, as opposed to utility work vehicles, and then cry when the prices reflect that. Consumers are the main problem.
Pretty much every car is overpriced and unless you really need a new one then it's not worth getting one regardless of Make. Also, with the price of eggs not coming down people aren't gonna have money for anything. Lol
I wouldn’t pay 60 grand, I wouldn’t wanna pay 40 grand for ANYTHING with a four-cylinder. And I certainly wouldn’t buy a pick up truck with a four-cylinder. Small trucks get V6 full-size truck get a full-size motor a V8 or diesel. I’ll say it again if you’re worried about gas mileage get a Prius.

Toyota had a really decent formula with the 3rd gen powertrains, the 3.5 and 2.7. Both proven and very reliable. Too bad toyota refused to offer the 3rd gen powertrains in the 4th gen model. Almost wouldve made more sense to offer the 2.4, 2.4t and the hybrid powertrains as options instead of no choice at all.
I knew this day would come, Toyota would go over to the side of the axis of evil. Toyota is not guilty, Toyota has been forced to offer unreliable mechanics and disastrous engines. We must understand that all car corporations get together and establish THE PATTERNS OF PLANNED OBSOLECENCE that all brands must comply with. Fords also been doing turbos way longer. My old ranger from the Australia days a decade ago gets the same gas mileage as these. They may even last longer since fords been making turbo engines for well over a decade to work out issues
Those add on's that you keep mentioning is how the dealer ordered it from the factory not what they added to the trucks sitting on the lots. People might want to watch your video again some of those SR models for over 45k weren't even 4 wheel drive.

i get about the 22-23 MPG in my frontier going up and back down from Lake Tahoe. and i got the Pro-4X trim for 38k. It was cheaper than a SR5 4x4

Honda still has a v6 because they had to add cylinder deactivation to pass emissions.. and we all know how bad that system is on engine reliability

Toyota has very good quality but the 2025’s are way, way over priced and they went to turbo charged instead of naturally aspirated.
