Not even a Toronto fan but being a native of Ontario I hear fans and have said this myself the second these jerseys were released that everyone wants those jerseys to be the home and away jerseys. They're gorgeous and I commonly HATE Toronto jerseys.

SPENCER HEISLER good point but a nice jersey is a nice jersey. I think the Devils jerseys are already nice enough. I can't imagine a stripe in behind their logo. Maybe if I saw it I'd change my mind. I already really like the "Christmas" and the straight black shoulder jerseys (no outline) for the Devils though, and that logo is among the nicest in hockey and in sports in my opinion. The Leafs jerseys were never too ugly (though the old Canada-flag esque streamlined maple leaf looks worse in hindsight and the '70s-'80s sleevy ones leave a bit to be desired) but with those stripes behind the logo I think "They're just gorgeous."

Absolutely true. But the Montreal jersey design is iconic, and Toronto would never go full time with something that people would connect with the Habs.
Goalies in Soccer wear different Jerseys to stand out as they don't wear large pads like in Hockey. It can be hard for the refs to tell who is the goalie as there's alot more players on the field, especially during a corner kick when everyone is bunched together. It dosn't really make much sense to to that in Hockey as goalies already stand out from the players. No one will mistake Andersen for Matthews on the ice lol

In soccer the goal keeper wears a different jersey so that the referee can differentiate the keeper from the players for the sake of Handballs and so fourth, it's litterally in the Fifa rule book that keepers aren't wearing the same colour as anybody else on the pitch. So that's why it is like that, no other reason for it.

As much as I love the winter classics, I prefer to keep them as winter classics. I like it when you get a jersey that is worn once a year and is really nice.
Toronto has my second favorite jersey in the NHL. They should definitely go with the Winter Classic full time. My first favorite jersey belongs to my Golden Knights. I hope Vegas plays a Winter Classic one day. I think it would be pretty cool to see a desert team like Vegas or Phoenix in an outdoor game, versus a Canadian or US East Coast team. It would be interesting to see what a Vegas Winter Classic jersey would look like.

Been a Leafs fan since '91 and the Centennial and Winter Classic are my two favourite jerseys. Feel like I say to myself exactly what youre saying everytime I watch them play. Current logo is nice but jersey is just so plain. Leafs are a one of the very few franchises in all sports that could really pulloff a truly grand, regal jersey, with multiple stripes like the Winter, and silver trim like Centennial. Sales would go through the roof even from non leaf fans with their big names.
As a Leaf fan, I'm partial to the '58 to '62 version of both home and away. I think the very first St. Pats jersey is very cool too, and was very disappointed not to see it last St. Patrick's day. Anything but that blocky non descript Leaf emblem Harold Ballard foisted on us.
For the record I love all of these jerseys. I love the current jersey's because as a fan I personally hated the Canadian Flag Leafs logo and wanted them to change it, now that they have leave it alone. Having said that I loved the Winter Classic and Centennial jersey's too. I have no problem as a fan changing jersey's to the striped Winter and Centennial ones, but can we wait a few years lol. One thing I don't particularly like is both home and away jersey's have the white logo, the away white jersey needs to have the blue logo, does that change your opinion by making that logo blue?? I don't want to be arrogant or be an ego based and annoying leafs fan but I 100% agree Leafs uniforms are the most beautiful in NHL, actually in Sports. Will give props to Chicago and Detroit however as they have beautiful jersey's too. I would love for them to make those the home and away jerseys. Although I think they should keep the jerseys they have right now as the jerseys were a big part of Shanahan ushering in a new era for the leafs. They also haven't missed the playoffs while wearing those jerseys.

I've always wondered why teams only have one alternate per season. I know plenty of other teams in AHL, USHL, etc that use various jerseys throughout the season. Would be more fun imo.

Last year I bought a Reebok Winter Classic Austin Matthews Jersey even though it is a little bit lighter blue I get lots of compliments and I love it.
