nothing better out in the woods or by a river and just have fun plinking with your favorite pellet gun l used to go down the river and throw fishing bobers up stream and as its flowing down stream l would try to hit them with my springer pellet gun and was cool when l would hit them. distance was probably 30 yards
@@scotthanson4200 Sounds like a great idea and I have a remote stream spot on my list, there's big chaga deposits that are untouched and no human tracks in winter so I don't think anyone goes there.
JFYI the 2289 I have will get 505 at 10 pumps pretty consistently. When I used the 2289 at 25 yards I pump it 6 times and the groups are usually within 1.25" and thats after drinking a few cups of coffee with my older eyes 🤓so Im sure it's capable of doing better. I have pumped it 12X just out of curiosity and it will do 525 FPS. The only modification I've done to it, is the steel breach.
I went back and watched my chrony results with my Drifter from last fall when it was brand new and I got two readings at 525 and one at 530 something using Crosman Premiers. I checked my box and Crosman listed the gun as 550 FPS with lead and 625 with alloy. I was kind of expecting I’d get a higher FPS change with the longer barrel but that’s okay. I was more curious just to see what differences I would see over stock. I don’t really care for the handling of the Drifter anymore with the longer barrel.
Watching you shoot you have a diff hand grip to myself, I prefer to have my thumb of my trigger hand resting on the back of the breech. The tip of my thumb rests on the bottom rear sight blade and covers the end of synthetic breech and the end cylinder tube. It seems to give me a steadier trigger release. It works for me but might be a hindrance to other people’s technique I’m about 6’2” and have big hands. On 10 yards I only use 4 pumps at 20 yards I might use 5 or 6 pumps. I don’t shoot any further as that’s the length of my range in the back garden. I don’t need the higher power as I only shoot at spinner and silhouette targets.
I can see where guys with large hands might need to change their gripping style from what it’s typically used. I don’t have large hands so I guess I’ve never thought about it. Since this video I removed the longer barrel as I didn’t really care for it after the novelty wore off. I’ve currently got the Drifter disassembled to install a Baker aluminum breech that I need to do some filing on to hand fit it to the gun. I agree, 20-25 yds is a good max distance to go on with these style guns.
The 1377/22 is the 10/22 of the airgun realm. Lots of interchangeable and after market parts available. My 1322 has a brass plunger and I have power valve and 14” waiting to be installed. Where do you live in Alaska? I live Palmer.
I thought it was funny when I read that the 13xx pistol is the most expensive airgun to buy since guys modify them. 😀 Now here I am modifying mine. I’m pretty certain I’m going to switch this one back to the original barrel. I liked the way it handled better with the 14” barrel. I’m in Valdez. We are now in our 6th or 7th day in a row with rain. It’s getting old.
I think the scope is the weak link here. Maybe throw something with at least 4x and normal eye relief would help. I think you could do better with the irons than that 2x
I like the scope I’ve got mounted for the much closer ranges I generally shoot the gun at. I did have this one set up with the iron sights and I liked the feel but this scope works better at the 20 yd and closer distances I usually shoot at. I was just curious to see how it’d do at 35 yds. I agree, if I was to routinely shoot at the longer distances a more powerful scope would be a benefit. But I’ve got many air rifles I can use for longer ranges. This is my fun gun. 😀
Looking forward to getting mine I'm already thinking of all the 'secret spots' out in the boonies I need to plink in should be a lot of fun.

Best to get a LPVO even a budget one. Pretty much the same size.

@@pricelessppp I wasn’t familiar with those so I looked it up. Pretty interesting and it would have worked better for what I was doing. Thanks 👍
What type of scope mount did you use?
Just some generic, see though type mounts off Amazon. They weren’t expensive.
@@airgunsofalaska I thought maybe it was the Crosman dovetail sight mount.
Thank you for your reply.
@@perrylaw7011 I’ve got the Crosman steel breech that uses a dove tail mount. It’s 11mm as I recall.
