- Jose's skill as a pilot are slowly improving the more we fly. Today was all about stalls. Not only how to recover from them, but how to properly set up for a stall.
Enjoy the flight!

Excellent instructional presentation!
Also, seeing your "common errors" input helps CFI candidates in expecting and recognizing these student errors. Nice!
Windtee A big ‘wing rockin’ thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Doing these solo for the first time this weekend. Thanks for the refresher from my TH-cam CFI
Rich Stoner your TH-cam CFI.. I like that haha
To stop the rush to power on and install the wings, I was taught to say "Recover" while unstalling the wing and pushing the throttles forward. It really helped me to realise I can slow the process down, to be smooth and not be jerky on the recovery. Great videos by the way
Very educational for the people who have yet to hit this in their PPL training, like myself!
Another great video, well done.
Luke Hache Thank you Luke! I see you’ve become a patron too man, much appreciated!
Learn something new everyday about stalling. Nice job.
Theman 10 thank you.. Glad you got something from the video
Like others have commented, as a CFI applicant, I absolutely love the instructional videos! FOI’s brought to you by LewDix Aviation.
"Learning to close the door in a PA28" ;D
I really like this video, like that you can tell jose is learning and isn't at the point where he is getting his PPL. like the tips in the bottom corners as well.
Jake Ragsdale Thanks man.. Glad you enjoyed it and like the tips
Nice , simple......rudder and self recovery...no ailerons Good stuff!!....good instruction!
Can’t get enough of your instructor videos! Learning a bunch from you thanks Lew
Cannot wait to start my commercial training. Just finishing up the instrument rating. Looking forward to looking outside again! Thanks for another great video!
Love this !! New pilot in training and this helps so much !!!
Nice communication and verbalizing steps by Jose.
That was a good educational video
T's & P's thank you!
Doing power on stalls this Friday, this video helped a lot. Thanks LewDix!
You are welcome!
Great video!
Nice and smooth is a great comment! That is key to being a good pilot ! Great vid !
This was a good refresher for me
I like the annotations!
Always fun to watch your videos.
I enjoy these tutorials, you should do more. The student seems to lack basic ground knowledge.
You look so serious in this older video. Still great comtent
Looking at your glasses on your face makes all the sense as to why Flying eyes sponsored you 😂. Just got my CFI so going back through these videos to make sure I'm well rounded lol
😂 yeaa.. they saved me
Ahhh 123.50... been wondering what the “practice area” freq is around here... I learned to fly @ VRB and never knew what it was in this area... good to know.
During my commercial training, my instructor taught me advanced stalls. A year later he crashed with a student conducting stalls. Always serious stuff to do with a student.
How did the crash happen?
@@LewDixAviation Here is a summary of the report. Only takes a few mins to read... www.atsb.gov.au/publications/investigation_reports/2017/aair/ao-2017-096/
Those damn doors! This just made me remember of trying to close a comanche's door... failed all the times, another pilot did it for me lol.
Bruno Gusmão haha they can be difficult.. Sometimes I’m really lazy and don’t slam it as hard as I need to.
Sounds like my instructor, come on that’s a baby stall, we want big boy stalls 😂😂 and by the way where is the clearing turns and before landing checklist
Couldn't help but feel bad for that engine at 7:33 . Ouch!
Yeaaaa not the finest moment in anyone’s aviation career spamming a carbureted engine throttle forward like that. All a learning experience tho!
For sure. I've definitely done my fair share of bone headed things during training haha. Enjoying your videos. Keep up the good content!
TopDollar38 Yea man me too! Thanks I’m glad you enjoy the videos!
he's come a long way.
Amazing videos I learn so much from this. Do you do residency courses? I'm 9 hrs in my ppl but I think I'd learn alot from you. Let me know brother
Lew was very mellow in this vid!
JGS007 haha I’ve been told that a few times.. One of those days i suppose
How's Jose doing nowadays do you know if he's still flying? He was one of my favorite students to watch of yours
Jose went on a different path after he got his PPL. I haven’t spoken to him for a long time
I am convinced there is a small club of basement dwellers that troll YT giving thumbs down to videos, they don't even watch them, they just thumb down them to get their jollies. Great video! JA
Haha it takes a very sad individual to sit there and be that offended by a video, that they must, before doing anything else, make sure they give it an anonymous thumbs down. This isn’t a customer service channel, I make the videos that I wanna make. Nobody is forced to watch haha.. Thank you for watching mate! I appreciate the support
I want a shirt which says "Fuck you, Gravity", but I don't want to pay Gareth any royalties
Death grab on the joke!! XD
7:30 - HAHAH i know he's a student but i found this quite funny. - uses aileron in stall, 2 hands on yoke, doesnt apply full power smoothly.
Love your videos but I have a non aviation question. I’m going to be in Orlando late August with the family do you have a top 5 restaurants we should try. I’d love a t shirt too.
Jed Wigmore Yardhouse, Shake Shack, Cheddars, Orlando Ale House and The Pub.. All great restaurants! Glad you enjoy the videos! If you’d like a shirt you can shoot me an email with your size request and I’ll give you info on how you can shoot me the payment there!
LewDix Aviation Cheers fella.
Is not moving the aileron something that will just become muscle memory? I always move it by an inch or two but it’s noticeable to my instructor 😬
Quality
I know its bad to do this but recovering from stalls I have have the urge to use a very very very small amount of aileron. Most of the time i catch myself so im getting better.
Matthew Gut it’s a natural reaction. If a car was turning away from you, you would turn the wheel yea.. natural reaction.. just got to train yourself to react with your feet in a plane
Goodstuff mehn
Yeah that was a baby stall
We want big boy stall 😂😂
The plane might just not be a crazy staller
RIP flaps ;)
Micah Claussen hahaha shut your lips
Will that plane do full spins if you let it?
My instructor says the plane I fly doesnt want to spin unless you really force it to. Its a Cherokee 140.
RollTide8569 If you’re uncoordinated and force it in, it will spin, however they are not approved so you can’t intentionally put one into a spin
Never liked the Piper door latch.
Ffffdd.BANG full power😂. To be fair i have mashed the throttle a few times. I suppose its just a natural oh s**t reaction
Hi lewdix im currently on my cpl multi stage but i would like to ask about some of your add ons and cfi trainee where i can message you? As far as i can remember we have the same base for training. Thanks
Katya Olivan hey Katya.. I moved to Orlando executive but I think I remember you commented on a video and told me you were at Sunstate or PanAm? You can email me lewdixaviation@gmail.com
LewDix Aviation i emailed you and yup from pan am
I know how to fix that door !! I have a Cherokee
You from Yorkshire?
Joedi I how dare you... Lancashire haha
Ah our enemies then! Suppose I'll forgive you since you make good TH-cam videos
Learning to stall an aircraft isn't a skill needed for PPL. Recovering from a stall is..:)
DustinLaughs incorrect sir.. For example if you go into a power on stall on your checkride without properly slowing the plane down to rotation speed, you WILL fail.. 😉
