- Footage of me destroying my Prime 1 1/2 scale BvS Superman statue as requested by Sideshow Collectibles in order to get a replacement (plus a mini review of the issues with the statue). Thanks for watching!!!
Destroy one collectable to gain another....what a stupid, wasteful world we live in! So many less fortunate fans that would of loved to have received this, even with its flaws.
Agreed Destinar!! I would have much rather sent it back to be sold on or hell, Sideshow could have donated it to a school or Hospital Children's ward etc. Such a wasteful policy but this was the only way I could get a replacement that wasn't leaning badly... Thanks for watching and commenting buddy
I agree. They could at least do a giveaway. I got sure would be happy to have a slightly defaulted 1/2 scale and take time to repair. I own this one. Knowing the price, it's really unfortunate they couldn't at least sell in eBay etc and donate funds to charity

They are "collectible pieces", so one must be destroyed in order to have a replacement. Make sense... there could not (MUST NOT) be "two same statues".The Artists stablished already how many of those unique pieces were gonna exist... they actually have serial numbers.

I am a clay modeler ARTIST, and If I only do 3 formal replicas of a piece, and one of the owners claims he wants a replacement because his has a problem... then I would construct one specially for him in order to "REPLACE" the one he has. Haven't notice that the word says it all?: *R E P L A C E*
In that matter, the old one MUST be destroyed, since I -the artist-, only approves the existence of only 3 Pieces, not 4 !!!

Did they send you the replacement first, then ask you to destroy it? Or other way around? Because I might have to go through this same process with my diecast iron man mark 4....
Jack Mehoff Hey Jack, firstly thanks for watching! I had to destroy the original first and then wait 3 or 4 weeks for the replacement to be sent out. It was a loooong wait but I was really pleased with the replacement. It was perfect.
stewmurray47 wow! Really? I’m not comfortable destroying my figure first and then having to wait 3-4 weeks to get a replacement. That I might have to talk to the sideshow first. Btw did you order the statue directly from sideshow or from another 3rd party retailer who buys from sideshow. Me? I bought my figure from a 3rd party online retailer who order their batches from sideshow. Hope that’s another story.... I thought sideshow will first get a hold of customer’s credit info after they send out the replacement, and if the customer didn’t send pictures of the destroyed figure, then they will charge them. I’m much more comfortable with them getting hold of my credit info as a leverage rather than listening to their demands: destroy the item first and wait for 4 weeks to get the replacement.... That’s a psychological torture!
Jack Mehoff Yeah it’s a looong wait that’s for sure! I ordered mine directly through Sideshow which made things a little easier to deal with. The delay was waiting for Prime 1 to send a replacement from their warehouses. Hope it all works out for you buddy

My local collectible gets reply from his buyer who orders figures from sideshow whole sales representative and the representative will then ask Hot Toys from Hong Kong to send them the replacement... The process would be going from A to Z.... My local store has very same item I ordered from, and if they could just allow me to do a direct exchange... everything would be done Faster!!
It would've been epic if after you did that, Sideshow sent an email that said JUST KIDDING. Or... if months later the new one would've came back with a black suit and a mullet. Or... since you contacted the returns department about Superman, the replacement would've been Brandon Routh. I love your backyard though, seriously. Wish my grass looked green and fluffy like that. It's like God's carpet. I'd sleep on it if I wouldn't wake up with resin bits of Superman's nose and bangs in my beard.

Thanks Ben! I do actually still have the S shield...I had to rip and cut it away from the suit but it came away intact which is a cool little memento of this ordeal lol. Thanks for the support and comment

Hey buddy how’s it going? Yeah apologies regarding my channel. I run a pretty successful family business and basically work 6 days a week so it takes a large amount of my time. Just don’t have the time to devote to filming, editing and uploading reviews. I'll never understand why they changed those few little things that made it so much less screen accurate. Lowering the shield and adding the gold on the wrist. Just makes no sense.
I totally agree Jack!! It was so strange that they made the changes...I can live with them of course but I wish I was able to raise up the S shield even slightly! Again, thanks for the comment
As much as the policy sounds ridiculous, it actually does make sense. If an artist makes a painting and makes 3 copies of it, and doesn't want more so it is actually rare and has a lot of value, the last thing the artist would want is to make a *replacement* of something, and having the original piece that's being replaced still exist somewhere. If the creator wants a specific number of his art created, having extras ruins it's value. Especially for a collectable.

I’ve been looking for this. I heard about the leaning MOS from another collector here on YT.
Watching it break is exactly what I’m afraid of if my Wonder Woman ever falls. I pick my angel up by the base and move the whole statue around sometimes when cleaning my room. I took her outside to film and take pictures. Unlike Steve Trevor, I’m below average but can still manage to lift her carrying from the base. I want to get a cheap floor scale to weigh her, curious to know.
Wonder Woman Heart Thanks for watching!! I would always recommend taking the statue off the base before moving. The more you carry and exert lateral side to side stress the more chance that the peg will loosen etc. Plus it’s safer! Hope you have her for a good long time. Thanks again for the support with my channel
What I like about the MOS v WW is the MOS peg is in the base, whereas the WW peg comes out from under her left foot. I prefer the MOS style so I can actually rest the statue itself flat on the floor. I’ve already put her down for a moment and had to do so on the peg with the body leaning at an angle and resting on something. No worry I don’t move her much at all. She’s permanently placed right now.
I believe that the MOS is one piece with attached head. WW is two piece, upper and lower body. If I ever had to do extensive moving, I’d disassemble for safety. However if you do that, you’ll have to take apart the lasso, and every happy WW 1/2 scale owner knows about the lasso and how fun that is to mess with.
But thank you for the advice! I’m over the moon that I have it and am very protective of it. The few times I’ve moved the entire statue I was pretty steady. Baby steps. ☺️

Urgh....It IS a beautiful statue and depiction of Henry though...hands down the most accurate to date even with the tiny little suit issues. As always I appreciate the support buddy!
It's crazy how it is wasteful but as a collector I totally understand why you have to get what you pay for since they cost so much. Still it must have been a shame feeling destroying it.
I imagine it's the same feeling humans have with books, you know how we seem to have a protection of books where you don't want to rip, treat, burn or break them. All normal people have this feeling u an sure, people through history who try to keep people down burn books but I cannot bring myself to harm a book. Hope that makes sense.
Yeah makes perfect sense buddy. I agree I hated doing this but sadly it was a means to an end. I got a replacement and it's in perfect condition so that's good. Yeah it's actually a little tiring hearing all the DCEU hate online just now...I mean I agree with certain aspects (didn't much like Suicide Squad personally) but as for the rest I've been really enjoying them for the most part despite their issues. Hehe I actually did end up ripping the suit apart and tearing off the S shield to keep it which was a nice little memento I guess. Good to be back buddy, thanks again

Hey Graeme, thanks for watching and commenting buddy. Firstly yeah I really do think the head sculpt nails the look of Henry Cavill. There are better angles than others for sure but overall it's the most accurate sculpt we've ever been given of him in statue form. Yes!! Donating him to a charity, school or hospital would have been SO much better than destroying it!! Sideshow really need to change their policies, it just makes sense. Thanks

I just found out sideshow has this policy, they have always made me either keep my item or ship it back and get a replacement either way but never asked me to destroys it lol. Then again I only buy hot toys from them not statues.

Yeah Joss, if you have issues with the statue and you bought it from Sideshow then they should definitely be replacing it or offering you a partial discount. Get in touch with them for sure. How bad are the suit flaws?

Yeah I totally agree Logan!! It's such a waste to destroy the thing when it could be sold cheaper or donated to a school or a children's hospital ward etc. It certainly was tough destroying it, wish they had accepted the return. Hey Wod, basically the statue was leaning back pretty heavily and was getting worse day by day. I contacted Sideshow and asked them if I could send it back for a replacement but they said I had to destroy the first one or they wouldn't ship the new one. I didn't want to do it. Thanks for watching!
