I went into this wanting to like it but the only plot was literally "wahhhh im sad about my wife" and flashbacks. The spider talked like he was talking to a 3 year old thats never experienced an existential crisis or heartbreak. The normies are gonna eat this one up.
I wanted a movie like this. And this is better than what I ever could have asked for. I'm so grateful to Adam Sandler, Carey Mulligan, Paul Dano, Johan Renck, Jaroslav Kalfar, Colby Day. They all did an absolutely spectacular job. Max Richter, his work on this was perfect. It was great.
I follow Andy Weir online and he recently defended Spaceman saying that the similarities were only skin deep. He also mentioned that he was also not the first writer to pen a story about a human building a friendship with Spider-like aliens. He referenced an older story that both his and this film must pay homage to. Also, there's a Project Hail Mary film in development if you don't already know about it. That's super exciting.
Was really looking forward to this one because I love whenever Sandler dives into a dramatic role, but this one kept shooting itself in the foot. The pacing and execution derailed this film for me. Great review, dude!
I gave up 25 minutes in, shortly after the spider appeared. It's just soo boring. Terrible pacing issues. I may go back and try to finish one day but very unlikely.
Oh, hello. I think you used to have an anime reaction channel, right? (that would awkward if you didnt tho) Nice to see you having a movie review channel, i subbed. As for the movie - I absolutely loved it. I went into it blind , really loved the atmospheric introspective vibes of it and was really surprised afterwards at how the bad rating is for it online. I think it is a very divisive movie, some people will love it for its unconventional approach but others openly claim that they fell asleep during it. I agree with the broader criticisms of the movie, i was just surprised at how harsh people were on the film.

I’d be curious to know how close it follows the novel it is based on.
You either love it or hate it. I loved it 🤷♂️
I'm reading "Project Hail Mary" right now and the storylines are uncannily similar. But, yeah, your review is spot on!
Interesting, I want to read that sometime since I enjoyed The Martian.

I honestly expected David Spade (ex-SNL alum) to be in this!
All true, and too nice! Here we were ready to squish innocent spiders every time that six-eyed thing said "skinny human."
This one didn't win me over . The subplots didn't mesh well
So this is Cast Away in space, basically? Thanks for the review.
Not really other than the sense of isolation, nowhere near as good that's for sure
@@BoxOfChocolatezAh, OK. It's a skip then. Thanks. 😊
@@BoxOfChocolatez- Castaway was absolute shite so says a lot for this movie
@@robertleem5643 If you say so, I like Cast Away.

Listen friend, I felt the exact same but once you commit yourself to it you will be extremely touched by this incredible film

Yes I did lol, thanks for the sub. And it’s good you enjoyed the movie, it will definitely have an audience.
I feel your pain, mate. This could have been a good movie however.............well you know! Great review, though, as always!
Thank you!
Commit yourself to this film and you will see the amazing touch it has, you need to fully commit to a great experience like this
@@NathanPeacock-fe4gn That doesn't mean anything man. I watched the movie, my experience was different than yours, simple as that.
I guess that’s why I don’t stream movies, Adam Sandler’s stuff is hit or miss.
Yeah I'm not usually hopeful about the quality of most streaming films, but this one seemed interesting, just to let me down.
Do u still watch anime?
Not as much as I used to, but yes
What an unbelievably shit movie. And they sent ONE guy?
Just watch it then talk
