Had somw large ass perch together with big jaguar cichlids and other monster fish before, I was surprised on how fast the chilled down and ate pellets and how social they became😅

What do you feed them? I get like some red worms but they are quite expensive and also I think too small for my fish now it is 15-17 cm long atm I am digging worms but that will not work all year it will not eat dead fish meat
I feed mine worm, bloodworm, and maggits. But have now managed to get them to est frozen prawns from the supermarket. Took a couple of weeks, but they love them now. Easy to get hold of and not to expensive 👍
I feed mine, maggots, worms, prawns, but their favourite are bloodworms, I buy them frozen. I would imagen the could eat a flake food, but it's getting them to recognise eat as food. Took me a while to get mine to eat prawns.

Thanks for watching! They are still going strong. Did loose a couple, as there was alot of fighting at the beginning. I have 1 really aggressive 1, who spent alot of time chasing and stressing the others out. Haven't had to cool the water much, but I wouldn't let any direct sunlight get in it. Did try not to let it go over 22° so a couple of times I've had an aquarium fan blowing across the top on the hottest days, but unless it's a really hot day, u should be fine. They do grow quick, so need a big tank, mine have double in a year. Been feeding mine prawns as there an easy thing to store and get hold of. But try and keep it varied. Awsome to watch

@@reelanglerz5367 well at the minute mine are only 3-4 inches and the leader being probaly 5 but I've been feeding them maggot,mealworm Morio worms and bloodworm haven't tried fish yet but theve grown alot
Iv found when feeding maggots, they wriggle under the substrate, and I find them dead and rotting when I clean it out, so stopped feeding them. They do like prawns, and it really fills their bellys up. Have u had any fighting? My dominant fish is pretty aggressive
@@reelanglerz5367 yeah thats true I find a load under my substrate too and to be honest nothing yet but in my tank I have several hides and weed so haven't noticed yet you feeding raw or cooked
About 10 years in the wild, but probably as much as 20 in captivity. A 55 gal would only be ok for 2 or 3 if the were really small, but they grow fast, mine have doubled in size in less than a year, and they will grow over a foot long. So will need alot bigger aquarium, when they get bigger

Never tried breeding them, so not sure, would imagine its not easy in an aquarium,would need the right temperature, although they did try in the spring, the females just dropped some eggs, bit the males never fertized them

hey man :) Any tips for keeping them alive ? :D I have 375 liters in my tank. About 22-24 celcius and Also filtration for 400L tanks. I had 4 of them and after week there are 2 of them. They just dont wanna eat expect one of them. Have plants, rock and driftwood here so they can hide. Feed them witch night crawler and maggots. Theý are almost always at one spot and dont move much. Idk what to do. Did water changes every second week (about half of the tank or 1/3 of the tank). So any tips anyone ? :D i really wanna have that one kilo giant :D
Have you tried bloodworms? I started mine on them, you can get them in little frozen cubes from most pet stores. Mine would go mental for them. Also prawns from the supermarket. They are not much different to keeping most cold water fish. Don't let the temp get to high, about 20° or lower is better
ye i tried bloodworms and prawns but they dont want them. Fighting with the tempereture still. Its about 21 celsius. I mean they are alive ´, they swim or just hang out but dont wanna eat. I was feeding mine twice a day. But I wouldn't leave any food lying in the tank, if they are going to eat it its normal as soon as you put it in

almost like the American version of a cichlid less colorful but im sure with selective breeding they could become vibrant

Just frozen cooked, they have days where they go mad for it, and others where they will leave some

No I wont mate, I intend to grow these out, put them in a garden pond, then start again with other fish, maybe a different species

Hi, unfortunately not, perch are cold water fish, and Malawi are warm. I try to keep my perch tank around 20° hope that helps

I haven't fed them minnows, the Mrs won't let me, plus I think it is illegal in the UK. They are loving prawns at the moment.
