Thank you so much, this is my second Caliber with my last one (2007) I went 5 years with the check engine light (due to EVAP code ) to pass the SMOG test I was resetting the codes, drive it to the point where the monitors were ready with the exception of the EVAP and go to the smog place (since California will let you pass if the EVAP is not ready) (always the last monitor to get ready)(usually for me at 60 to 80 miles after the reset )with out passing 100 miles, because the check engine light will come up, it was a pain in the ....., I just got my second caliber 2012 within the 1-week I got the same problem, I did not want it to live with the same problem again, somehow I came across your video and decide to give it try, I spended $78.00 in Amazon and 25 minutes of my time and 1200 miles later still no check engine no codes and passed the smog without any problem, save my self $700 to 900 according to the local mechanic, thank you again.
Super super helpful. Just recently bought a 2008 Caliber with the 2.0 and 161XXX. The only stored engine code is "PO456 - Small Evaporative Leak", with a pending code of "PO455 - Large Evaporative Leak". I was dreading trying to figure out where those were with my limited tools. You got a sub, like, and comment to kick the youtube algorithm a bit.
Great Video. I change my GAscap and still having problem when to the 2nd one LEAK DETECTION PUMP, Bingo that was the problem. Thanks for the Information 2007 Dodge Caliber SXT 2.0 Thanks
thank you for this, my grandmas car failed emmisions had 0522 0456 and 0455, gonna check these parts first and replace if i find cracks in leak detection or hoses
I'm impressed with your manual dexterity. Your able to hold the phone and record with one hand and remove clips and parts with the other. You girlfriend must be very happy. Superman fingers!!!!
Great explaining details one by one although I don't have this kind of problem with my car .my problem is my transmission cooling light is coming on mean my transmission is getting hot on my 2007 Dodge caliber but great work for whoever have this problem I changed the filter transmission fluid and seems to be the same thing if you ever find out what could cause that let me know but you explain details and details very well for those who have that problem you talking about
What transmission filter did you change there are 2? There is a small particulate filter located under the battery tray. You could also check to see if the fins on the trans cooler/ ac condenser are plugged. It’s located right in front of your radiator.
I have a 2007 dodge caliber over 200, 000 miles now. I'm a single mom trying find out why it's now shutting off randomly while driving. Cranks back up but will randomly stalk again down the road. I really appreciate if u can point me in the right direction.
I have a 2009, runs well and only problem is cool but no cool air, got the evap emissions code to, my car is about paid off, im determining whether to pay to fix this issue or just sell it lol
I replaced all 3 parts, including a Mopar gas cap, and the gas cap message is still there. How do I diagnose the problem from here, or should I just take it to the dealer?
Had a question I’m having the same issue on my 2008 Dodge caliber with it also makes you burn fuel quicker I work 28 minutes away and I have to fill up 2 to 3 times a week
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow you got right to the point to you didn't waste our time telling a 5 mins story about whatever. Lol. Some of these TH-cam people like to talk and a 10 min video turns into a 20 min one. So I appreciate you getting right to it. Keep up the good videos.
i have an 06 dodge ram and i checked all these and replaced all these and still have the code. i’ve cleared it and it comes back. i have a low idle and average around 2mpg while idling. it usually idles from 200-600 rpms if i’m lucky but starts no problem. when i start it, it goes to around 1500 rpms to warm up but less than 1 second later drops to 600 again. not sure what to do. i took it to a mechanic and he used a smoke machine and said he can’t find it
I have a question. I have these two codes with my 2008 caliber. It's jerking, bucking, and losing power as I'm driving it. It'll sometimes get a rough idle. These problems only start occuring after driving for about 10 minutes. When I first start it up I don't have any problems.
Not trying to be rude but I didn't see a question. I would start by checking the components. If you have a stuck open purge valve that could definitely cause this
@@torialeigh2643 Well I wrote this after just buying the car and later found it had a rats nest in it. So guessing rats chewed on some of the hoses. So someone replaced a hose for me and everything was fine again. And I gave it a tune up. A year later and it has never happened again. It's still sluggish af but that seems to be common with these cars because of the cvt.
Hi! i changed the gascap and it didnt work. So i moved on to the leak detection pump replaced it with a brand new one still dosent work. at that point should i look for the filling neck or even the charcoal canister?
Question, does this get rid of both the engine light and the tire sensor light? Because both of these are showing up on my dash and I have those codes coming up as errors.
Can we get rid of this EVAP garbage? Are there any vent plugs for leak detection pump hole and/or plugs to make sensor always happy? This whole system seems like a eco-circus. So much hardware to absorb tiny amount of fuel vapor.
I have a question so i Am getting the codes p0444 & p0700 and the right light with lighting Bolt is on on my 2010 Dodge Caliber? Any knowledge to Help?
On Amazon
*LEAK DETECTION PUMP: amzn.to/2Op4yiA
*PURGE VALVE: amzn.to/2OhNon4
*GAS CAP: amzn.to/32VSHxQ
*OBD 2 SCANNER: amzn.to/2LuGQQ8
I just got a new leak detection pump for my 2008 dodge caliber from your link but it looks different inside?

Thank you!!
Helps a lot seeing what needs to be done!
No problem! Good luck getting the code rectified
Good trying to think how I can do this,
But services can help
I replaced the leak detection pump, purge valve and gas cap. P0456 still coming up
Got to smoke it and try to find the small leak

Yes, is the EVAP purge solenoid stuck open that could definitely be burning more fuel
You need a fuel treatment see your mechanic I have a Dodge Caliber 2007 and my fuel would burn quick in less than 2 days
Excellent video.
Thanks Alan
Could these problems be relatively the same as on my 2008 Caliber. Having evac issues as well.
Yes, should be very similar
Thumbs up 👍 thank you for your post ✅
Love ya brother thx for the vid much help🙏

Dealer did a smoke test, they told me it’s leaking at the ESIM. They wanted 200$ to fix it. LOL. I took it home to do it myself .

Where do you find fuel filter on dodge caliber 1.8 2007 please

Have you ever had a problem with engine bogging down while accelerating
This wasn't my car. But generally that problem would not be caused by any evap issues
Yeah it happened to me a couple of times when I put a certain gas in my car.
Found it was my flex pipe that failed. Does it mean I have to replace my cat?

No. Engine light and tire light are not related
