    You deserve so much credit for your ability to do true side by side/ shot by shot comparisons. This must have taken so much time and effort, I applaud you 👏

    Oh man, that would be really sad...
    I thought I saw Fuji as more cool-green, but in your pictures, the Fuji was often a bit more warm than the Kodak.
    Great work on creating this video, it was a joy to watch (except for the sad conclusion).

    Ugh man, this is so frustrating. Just when I get into film photography, so many cool film stocks get killed by Fuji. I really wanted to try real Fuji film :(
    Great vid, one of the best comparisons

      Agreed. I really enjoy Fujfilm. I learnt colour photography with Superia 200. But like I said in the video, it is possible that Fujifilm might restart manufacturing. finger crossed 🤞

    In Japan, they are selling Fuji-made film again, but it's not made it to wider global markets. Luckily, I quite like Kodak Gold.

      Maybe in a couple of months, it will hit international markets again. I love Fuji stocks!

    I think your effort was very worthwhile. Nothing beats a performance verification, to actually replicate a real world scenario with a test setup to determine and compare actual behaviour or characteristics, instead of only looking at data sheets. Looking at data sheets can be helpful, but is not always conclusive. Now we 'know' these stocks are almost the same, otherwise we would suspect only.

    love the comparison and aesthetic in this video! kodak looks good to my eyes for landscape due to the "softer" look, but fuji also looks good in its own way!!

    Shooting 2 different lenses kind of defeats the point of a side by side comparison….
    Also if the polarizing filter affected warmth on the Fuji 400. The Fuji wouldn’t be consistently warmer. Solid video but the testing is pretty flawed

      Hi, like I said in both videos not a scientific test. For some images, two different lenses from the same gen. But later on in the video, exact same lens (I swapped after each shot) and exact settings. I even scanned both negatives on the same frame and they look nearly identical. In the end, the stocks might differ in some situations and it's all about what you can find available at your photo store. Here in Europe, Fuji 200 and 400 don't exist and we still have Fuji 200 and X-Tra 400. And once I'm back in Canada, I know I won't purchase Fuji 200 and Fuji 400 if I'm looking for Fuji colours. However, if I want standard consumer film stocks, I'll definitely get the pack of 3 rolls of 36 in Fuji 200 and Fuji 400 becasue they are much cheaper than the Gold and Ultramax. Hope this helps :)

    In the words of Claude Rains - who played the role of Captain Louis Renault in the movie Casabanca - "I'm shocked!, shocked!, to find that gambling is going on in here."

    Could you provide the files of the scans with both film stocks in the same frame? When you were discussing them being "exactly the same" there appeared to be subtle differences between the two, perhaps it was changes in lighting conditions. It may be beneficial to have a future video with a randomized A/B "blind" sample so viewers can come to the conclusions themselves whether their preferred choice was consistently one stock over the other (indicating that there may indeed be some subtle differences), or if they simply couldn't tell the films apart (hence they are likely the same). It is more beneficial for people to come to conclusions themselves than to have someone articulate their conclusions as truth, as they say, "trust, but verify."

      The bc interior is so much better for fall colours. I was in Christina Lake a few years ago during the fall. Gorgeous

    What I don't get: why Fuji 200 and 400 and cheaper than Gold 200 and UltraMax 400.

    • @robinferand
      @robinferand  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I know right? Film prices aren't checked so stores can decide basically. But at least in Canada, I seems to find it cheaper than the Kodak stocks!

    • @n0tchmc
      @n0tchmc 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      from what others have said it probably comes down to packaging (and maybe even the film canisters themselves) which fuji has a greater resources for that allows them to sell it for cheaper (not 100% confirmed - just from word of mouth)
