Love the innocence and genuine enthusiasm for film photography. You make it look so enjoyable and using an SLR for street.Makes a nice change from seeing all these wannabe “street photographers” from the spray, pray and edit TH-camrs brigade.
I tell you what, I just love taking photos and sometimes I am that dude who sprays on the streets haha! But I must say film photography has taken my heart. It's such a shame I'm so busy with work otherwise, I'd be making videos like this every week. Maybe one day. Thank you so much for watching!
Love the pictures. Happy to see young people getting into film photography. When I was your age I bought a minolta xg7, not the best camera they ever made, but I loved it and I still have it today and it works perfectly! But last year after watching so many people raving about the srt line I bought one on eBay and it’s amazing. Minolta does not get the same love as canon Nikon etc but they introduced many innovations into film cameras and their lenses were among the best
Hey! Thank you so much for watching and commenting-it really means a lot. I actually love this camera. Fully manual, no relying on a batteries etc. Brilliant. I've not been able to shoot too much recently as life and work has been so busy but I'll be back to it soon!
Nice work. I bought an SRT 101 as my first SLR way back in 1969 (I'm probably your Grandad's age) and loved it. I loved the feel of it in my hand and really loved the sound of the shutter. It's long gone now but I've always remembered it as my favorite ever camera. So last week I decided to buy myself a refurb for nostalgia's sake. It should be here in a few days out of Japan. A tip about exposure. The meter is bottom weighted and it has contrast compensation. This allows the lower portion of the photo to take priority and lets the sky blow out a bit rather than put the foreground in shadow. If you turn the camera sideways remember that the exposure priority turns sideways. Additionally, the cadmium (?) exposure unit inside is reliant on battery voltage and the original battery was 1.3 volts. However, it was an old mercury cell and they don't make them any more. A modern button battery is 1.5 volts, a touch higher. This effects exposure metering. You can get a little adapter that takes a slightly smaller button battery and holds the voltage to 1.3 volts.
Hey Kim! I'm chuffed to bits with your comment so thank you very much - it really means a lot. It's such an awesome camera - I really love it but that information on the lightmeter does make a lot of sense and is really helpful so that you for that. Definately worth noting for future usage. Again, I'm so glad you watched it and commented on it - it's made my day!
Brother, u gotta understand alot about exposure "rules" here, theres no right or wrong exposure, just because its under exposed doesnt mean its trash, i actually prefer under exposed photos and all the ones u said were trash or muddy or under exposed i actually thought were gorgeous. Many people do this deliberately, but most importrantly, this is film my man, its gritty, its spontaneous, in my opinion, the worse or weirder it comes out, the better. Perfection in art is boring to me, humans aren't perfect, imperfection is much more beautiful as it is unordinary and alot more abstract and artistic. The bnw's were pretty nice, i think u did well with them and the fuji 400 ones were really gorgeous! especially the first and the book one, keep it up bro.
Yo! Brother... firstly thank you very much for watching and thank you for taking the time to comment as well - it really means a lot. You're also completely right. Photography isn't and shouldn't be perfect... especially film. I should lean into those imperfections. I am still very much getting used to film and it's a massive learning curve but I'm working on it haha! Thank you again, dude! Appreciate you 🫡
Yeah, I've recently really enjoyed black and white but the colours in Brighton are a lot of fun... that shot is probably my favourite as well, mate! Thank you for watching - I hope you enjoyed it. Nathan
Awesome photos! I just got this camera gifted to me in almost new condition and I’m stoked to use it. The images you captured have me feeling even more pumped! Great stuff! 🤘🏼📸
Thank you, Roman. I honestly really appreciate you taking the time to watch them. What do you think about more Film Street Photography videos? Or stick to digital haha? ❤️
You may already know this but, I've been told that the shadows develop before the highlights do during the developing process. They say if you want to keep more detail in the shadows without blowing out the highlights too much you can over expose the shadows and then pull the film 1 stop when developing. Or shoot normal and reduce the developing time just a bit. The shadows develop within the first minute or two. It would be worth trying. Portra does really well over exposed by a stop. It retains a lot of detail in the highlights even when over exposed. Tmax 100 and FP4 are the black and white film stocks i prefer to shoot at the moment. I prefer fine grain. But light conditions don't always allow you to shoot 100 speed film. The thing about street photography is that you may have sunlight on one side of the street and be in the shadows on the other side.
@@njm_fliicks that came off more hateful than I meant. Mostly just I think the volume was a little bit high so I had a hard time concentrating on what you were saying. But it's just my opinion. Do your thing my friend
Hey! I'm so sorry for the late reply, I've been busy with work. It's got a Minolta Rokkor - PG 1.4 50mm. Absolute beaut of a lens. I absolutely LOVE this camera! Thank you for watching!

The music is killing me
Yo! Next time I make a video I'll drop Drake a DM to see if I can use his music instead 🫡
