Ad for Ancestry?
If Ira's marriage didn't appear in that search, then it's possible they married in Ireland before migrating. In the 1870's census, Thomas and Charles have taken on the surname Venable. Elizabeth and James have two more children on that census. The 1860's Census also has an alternate name for Ira - Richard.
Things were way different back in those days!!
*Borromeo is pronounced
boro-mayo, not the way Megan pronounced it.

I would love to have ancestry records. I've looked at census records and have to assume all my relatives hide when they hurt the knock on the door lol because can't find them.
@eicrusade6161 😃 You made me laugh with your 'ancestors hiding' comment. And yes, I'm sure people who didn't wish to be named or counted evaded the Census Collectors. I must say though, people do appear to have been remarkably compliant with these 'Official' surveys down the decades. /You likely know that there are some countries where many Birth, Marriage, Death & Census records were sadly destroyed. For example: in Eastern European countries as a result of war, and in Ireland as a result of fire where the records were kept.
