    I colony breed these in one of my planted community tanks. Over 300 in there currently, so mesmerising just watching them just doing their thing.
    The cheat code for breeding infinite Odessas is large floating plant islands (of Riccia and Baby Tears etc. with lots of roots extending down into the water column) and keeping the adults well fed so they don't predate the fry too much.

    Great video. The vinegar eels you can take a long neck bottle and a cotton stuffed in above the culture add water and they will come to the top. Clean eels to feed

    May I ask why you keep the water level low? is it so the fish dont eat the falling eggs?

    Vinegar Eel suggestion? Cory McElroy uses a small wad of filter floss at the top of the bottle that is partially in the vinegar and partially out. Fill the top with water until it is slightly above the filter floss. The idea is that the eels find their way to the top and you can harvest with a pipette/baster. Could this be of value/help to you with keeping the apple mulm out of your fry tanks?

    Can you tell me what type or brand of green paint you use on the plastic inside the tank? Thanks so much!

    I like this update vid for breeding. For the scouring pads, how do you get the new pads ready for use? New pads would release fine green matter. Also what kind of paint do you use on the cross stitching pads?

    I am going to get some Odessa barbs to breed and maybe add to my community tank once I get fry. I have a system to breed the fish and buying supplies for it. Only issue for me is I need a 40 gallon breeder rack but it has to be around that size. I have 11 tanks in my room and it needs to be just about the size of my 40 breeders. I want a 3 tier rack but don't know where to get it from. I would make it but I don't see very well and don't have a table saw. Any suggestions?

    Question maybe I missed it but, why keep the water so low in the tank when breeding?

      Because the fish know the breeding season by lower water levels in nature I believe - Mr. Guppy

    Hello Sir I'm very interested in your fish breeding and keeping. Just wishing I can find someone like yourself in Ontario Canada so I can really get back into doing the same things you do but here at a smaller scale. Wishing you lots of luck in your health and fun with your hobby. Mike Valente 🙏

    Anyone looking for the sheets at 5:52 ask for eggcrate or you can order sheets on amazon.

      I've always wondered why it's called eggcrates

    • @jordanbabcock9349
      @jordanbabcock9349 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zelphernide5758 used to separate egg layers. Doesn't take up a ton of space and allows air flow between eggs.

    It's an interesting idea to keep the light on 24 hours a day so the babies eat more.
