Seriously? They both complain about the manual transmission on the GT4?!?! "give me a PDK Porsche"??? It's not a commuter car. Nobody buying this would sit in traffic with it every day. Be thankful they gave you a third pedal you big baby!

If you want a pdk go and buy something else. The GT4 was meant to be a complete package for a unique drivers car, pdk obviously takes away form that. It's like asking for a ferrari, but then asking to make the suspension as soft as a Cadillac from the 70s cause you want comfort.

I would never buy an automatic car because of traffic, that's just a bit much to me. Yeah its not fun driving stick in traffic but, it's not bad enough for me to change such a vital part of my driving experience.

You guys don't sound like the biggest manual fans, but the one of the biggest reason for this car's success was that gearbox.
Thanks to the high demand for this car and pressure from enthusiasts, Porsche decided to go back to the manual transmission for the 991.2. I hope Porsche retains the manual in this car and leave the PDK for the GT3 RS.
Yeah their dislike of a real manual transmission was actually pretty annoying.

What? No driving enthusiast has ever said those words, ever. The only thing that made it even partially acceptable was driving in LA Traffic, ok I understand that might suck, but don't come on here saying that the manual transmission is the worst part of the car because you're basically too lazy to use one.
lol i agree. What i don't understand is the whole "I'm stuck in traffic 95% of the time" statement. If you're always stuck in traffic then why the hell would you even buy a sports car like the GT4 to begin with.

Ya not everyone lives in L.A. or a city.. it would be stupid for a company like Porsche to just build a car with an automatic because they expect everyone to live in a city. Some companies im sure do that for that reason. But that's not what this car was made for.. Its not made to be stuck in traffic. Its made to blow by traffic. lol, if your stuck in traffic its cause your driving to slow. 😂
Thanks for your message Maanvendra Singh, the guy with the sunglasses make no sens a Porsche with Cup setup it's manual gear box for sure not PDK that why this Porsche talk to the purist, if you want pdk for stay in the traffic jam buy a Prius or Tesla, because you dont need Cup package to like big wing suspension aero in traffic jam lol, this car is perfect for the weekend and track day (with manual Gear box off course !!!! )
This channel is underrated as fuck
Problem with automatics is, as time passes the gearboxes always get dated because technology is always progressing. A good manual will never go out of date.
Well technically it's been out of date for a while.....
However, certain "autos," wether that be a torque converter or a DCT, are so fucking good now, that they really are not gonna become dated. Like PDK really can't get any better. Or THE BEST tranny PERIOD, is the F1 DCT from Ferrari!!! Your not gonna get any better. But even normal cars, like the ZF8spd in the BMW's and Jags and AM. The shift and the more important part that nobody really talks about, the reaction time from when you touch the paddle, is so instant and brilliant that they simply are not gonna be noticebly better.

So good to hear someone be real and say they would rather have the pdk over the manual... Sick & tired of these macho dudes that think they're pro-drivers screaming manual this, manual that blah blah blah!
Let's be clear, we love both gearbox's. The bottom line is that it all comes down to personal preference. The manual vs. semi/automatic gearbox is a debate that will rage on for the test of time!

kudos for going from 20" wheels to 19s. I often find that owners and companies believe that bigger is better but I think that they don't actually speak to the vehicle dynamics guys who develop geometries and tyres. 19 inch wheels for this kind of car is perfect.

Production is spot on as always! My only issue is how can you give honest feedback about the owner/host personal car? But I will reiterate that the visuals are legit!
nice gt4 man! I've driven one (fully stock since it's from collector) on a rather small track and man it was amazing but the owner (who owns 70+ porsches) says it's a car that gets ''boring'' quickly. He was hooked when he got it but after 2 months he barely used it anymore, which in a way is a miracle since he drove it so much ditching all his other nice collector cars but also quite sad it looses the fun factor if driven to often. what I'm saying is: the gt4 is an amazing machine for car and Porsche enthusiasts but don't drive it to much or it will loose his charms...

I recently had my owners training day at the Porsche Silverstone Experience Centre in the UK, and my instructor (20+ years in Porsche motorsport) said the same thing funnily enough. I think it's the ultimate track weapon though! As a daily may become a grind as you mention in your video.

I don't think you can subjectively push your opinion on each other in terms of what is satisfying when it comes to a manual vs. a PDK. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Pre-DCT, the beauty of having a manual was to get away from the annoying automatics and have an engaging experience and shift better (i.e control shift points) and faster than automatic counterparts. Race car drivers for the longest time wanted fast transmission and because of that, it allowed them to focus more on the other aspects of racing. I've owned both - and I admire the engineering that goes into a DCT and the feel of being able to shift instantaneously all the time. It allows to me to be a faster driver. I don't think the educated and talented engineers who spent countless nights engineering these DCTs had the purpose of cursing the automative enthusiast. You all are acting like those people slaved away because they hate cars. It's freaking awesome to be able to blip a paddle and have the car instantly rev-match downshift. But still, a manual transmission is still a ton of fun. The only thing that isn't up for debate is how much faster these cars have become from just the adaptation of a PDK and that is commendable. Instead of bickering at each other - why not appreciate all the effort to make push forward an ancient technology. It blows my mind that we have transmissions in cars that shift so fast. And ironically, having driven manual it makes it that much more admirable when I get to experience a DCT because I know how much effort it takes to shift perfectly and fast all the time. Even a seasoned manual driver can not match the performance of a DCT.

Also I wish they would make the 911 more of an enthusiast car and spend more time refining the cayman. There is so much potential in this cars layout that they shouldn't just hinder it because the 911 is its bigger brother. I would very much like to see the Porsche Cayman get a naturally aspirated v8 with manual transmission, and some nicer wheel options
