When Super Aguri folded, their engineers went to Honda BAR. Then for their last car, SA aero dynamists were assigned to the rear, to which they developed the Double Diffuser and allowing the by then BRAWN to win an F1 WC... Then after all that was done, SA and Honda engineers went back to Honda and worked on the HSV10 for SUPERGT where an HSV10 won it's maiden SUPERGT title.
It was a shame that Super Aguri folded as Sato and Davidson could pull off some good results out of that car. For a new team they were doing quite well at the time. if they had kept the team running they would be a competitive midfield team by now
lol at the negative nancy's here. Brundle's here is comprehensively describing driving the car, whilst doing 150MPH, braking at the same time and down shifting from....150MPH. And you dont think he pushing it hard enough? I love you tube :)
@JosRidesAgain No quicker? Than why is every current lap record set held by a car built after 2003? Even the cars from the early 2.4L V8 era like this Super Aguri are only a few seconds off the pace of those late V10 rocketships. Ayrton Senna's pole lap at the 1988 Monaco Grand Prix: 1:23.998. Jarno Trulli's pole lap at the 2004 Monaco Grand Prix: 1:13.985. Fernando Alonso's pole lap at the 2007 Monaco Grand Prix: 1:15.726.
@FormulaOneFan4Eva No really. The "old" cars had a tendency to want to bite you at every opportunity, like Brundle says. Send you into the armco. The new cars even though passive feel like an FW15C, they just never lose grip or want to bite you. So yeah driving them is a lot easier, stop go left right, not needing to be really "driven" or wrestled with. It's just the technicality of setting them up to get the last half tenth out of them in the setup that is difficult I guess.
@xxllrr88 I bet heel&toeing a 1000hp F1 car and not spinning in the process is quite a feat. Did these things actually use the clutch when shifting? I know 90s rally cars have h-pattern shifters but don't necessarily use the clutch when shifting.
10 year late reply but I'll stil answer. In the old manual F1 cars, it was very possible to do clutchless shifts. Whether it was common to do so? I dont know that. I will say this... a rule of thumb is that the simpler the gearbox, the easier it is to shift without a clutch.
@xxllrr88 That comment makes me question if you have ever ridden 180mph? Changing gear above triple digits is vastly different from slow speed. The act of unsettling the car in a gearchange is exaggerated the higher the speed. Braking and changing down 2 gears on the limit at 150mph is vastly different than at 40mph. PS: Insults reveal a lack of persuasion skills.
@amjan Haha, you should try looking at the video - he is nowhere near "full speed". And while it might've been harder to put the power down with the turbo cars, the braking and cornering speeds are so much higher nowadays - the drivers need to be much fitter than back then. Talking about Brundle being able to drive cars - did you see the ITV "60 years of Silverstone" - he can drive the cars from all decades.
I don't get it why this comment is voted to negative to be showed. It's just the man's opinion about what he likes. I know what he means and i can get into that. Driving cars of the 60's is a completely different kind of sport compared to F1 nowadays. I like the 80's and 90s cars more than these days cars. But i still love to see F1 cars, It stil are superfast and powerfull machines that needs maximum concentration of the drivers.
Davidson: "[the modern cars] they're not easy to drive" Yeah , right. You haven't driven a 70s or 80s F1 car, have you? I thought so. The old granpa Brundle had no trouble driving it at full speed, while talking to the camera and gesticulating. Get a perspective, boy.

As F1 driver, Martin Brundle had more satisfaction after he retired from racing.

Holy crap Anthony Davidson looks young.
Martin Brundle is a legend!! Easily the best thing about F1 TV coverage!
Wow. Martin Brundle's voice is just as powerful as the engine he revs.Nice video.
Brundle was more roaring in the car than the engine.
ps: this is a 2006 super aguri
I wish Super Aguri came back.
They were a slow team but they did a better job in Formula 1 than Hispania!
lol brundles voices was ruined after the video after all that yelling, trying to be audible over the crazy f1 engine. very nice vid
I know he says 2007, but this car is definitely the SA06 from 2006...
He says the *engine* is from 2007.
Nvm, didn't see that your comment was from 11 years ago lol
@@Yoshik379 11 years later and still here! 🤣

0.26 The Stig!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where has he disapeared from f1? And why was he on a clarkson DVD?

i want to drive one of these cars before i DIE!
Too bad the team doesnt exist anymore :(
The car looks great, one of my favourite designs of the past years.
Ah, the old bridge corner.
@JosRidesAgain

Sounded like Martin was losing his voice at the end there. Probably from all that shouting over the engine and wind noise.
He said 2007 engine, which I'm assuming they've put in a 2006 chassis. You are right though, defo a 2006 chassis.
@mouloudo It was that years car; he was probably told to take it easy since they needed it in a couple of weeks!
Thats my Prius!
Aguri means cucumber in my country ;))
No HANS device on Martin?
Who is the other Guy posing with Martin and Aguri Suzuki at the beggining?
@xxllrr88

0.26 The Stig!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this video is only 2 years younger than my brother 😐
@Malosovich Maybe, except for when Sato overtook Alonso
too bad he's not reving it up, you cans hear it and see it on the wheel

@carsismeZ06 haha he will never do that he's a legend how could he ever possibly...

I'm surprised Brundle didn't wreck it...
Hey, someone's watching this video in 2019?
They left because honda were imbarresed by getting beaten by there 2nd team
Have you driven a 70s or 80s car? Have you driven a modern f1 car? Yeah I thought so..
No, but many have - guys like Lauda etc. And they all say the same thing.
Sexy cars from around 2005 to 2008. 2009 to 2012 just look like crap in my opinion.
I don't care how technologically superior the cars of today are, I would much rather driver/see people race the cars of the '60's
Davidson: "[the modern cars] they're not easy to drive"

You do realize what you are saying right? As in you're not trolling...
STOP TALKING AND FUCKIN DRIVE!
