I noticed on Blade HQ that the ZDP version is discontinued, I guess in favor of the K390. I have the Ladybug serrated hawkbill with rust-proof H1 steel. I was torn between it and the H1 Manbug with a sheep foot style blade, but decided the hawkbill shape would be best suited for my purposes. I like it a lot. Will have to try one of the Manbugs sooner or later.

Manbugs are surprisingly a great edc. K390 is a great steel too.

FRN is perfect for this type of knife, I think you should research the purpose of this knife a bit more. A keychain knife which it’s designed for is perfect for FRN. It won’t show much wear rubbing against keys and is very durable and lightweight on a keychain. You seem
To imply to want a heavier knife? Wouldn’t you want a heavier material on a larger knife designed for heavier cutting tasks?? That made no sense. This knife is designed light duty daily tasks. Also it comes standard in VG10 which was originally designed for chefs and most likely will never rust.

I just picked up the Ladybug in k390. It’s a pretty comparable steel... slightly tougher, which I thought would be valuable in a small knife. ZDP-189 is more rust-resistant, but since I am going to oil the blade anyway, that seemed like a negligible benefit. The design is awesome. The 2 finger grip works way better than I expected. They are coming out with a Wharncliffe Manbug soon, which I think is probably preferable (you’re not doing much with the belly on such a small blade).

Forgot to add... I have the ladybug attached to my Victorinox Classic. It makes up for the classic’s poor knife (but compliments the great scissors, pen, etc.). Each is so small on its own, it’s nice to have them tethered to each other (hoping we will one day have a Victorinox Cadet X).

I have both and I like the size of the manbug more. Thanks for the comment.

The Dragon Fly is small enough. Both the Lady and Man Bugs are key chain knives.

I have the Dragon Fly as well. But prefer to carry the manbug.
