In 2010 I umpired his daughter Natalia's softball game here in Newport Beach. She was eight years old at the time. I spoke to Kobe every half inning for 2 1/2 hours. Same thing the following week. Took a picture with him, and it hangs in my classroom. He was a wonderful human being. We all make mistakes. He bounced back and impacted others greatly. He worked with kids here in SoCal in private, impacting them dramatically. I pray that he is in heaven now. RIP Kobe, Gianna, Coach Altobelli, and all others who died all too soon.
