Being a complete beginner its so satisfying when I put something together that actually sounds ok.. not saying I've mastered it completely but this has definitely opened up the drum kit that little bit more ... this guy is my hero at the moment... thanks for all your time and knowledge mate 👍
Yeah, you're videos are impressive. Taking some of the most basic rudiments and explaining how to integrate them into seemingly more complex beats. It makes this whole genre less intimidating ahah thank, man!
DUDE!!!! great vids!!! i've been drumming for a long time and am trying to broaden my horizons a bit more and after seeing some vids of jojo i've been looking into learning some d&b .. everything you teach is well taught and easy stuff .. i just never thought of applying things i already knew in the way you do .. thanks a lot
Great vid. Thanks alot for this. I had my first go on a drum set the other day. Ive been hooked since watching London Elektricity live at the jazz cafe, and also watching KJ Sawka, Anders Meinhardt, and yourself on TH-cam. Just wish I took up the drums at an early age. I'm 27 and getting on abit now to just start learning.... lol
Oh man, you gotta try them! They have a metal core, but its hollow. Its covered with a removable plastic sleeve. These sticks actually reduce the vibration and resultant muscle strain. In my experience, they are FAR more forgiving than wood sticks. The best part though, every pair is perfect, lasts a lifetime, and the plastic takes about 6 times the beating that a wood pair can before replacing. If you haven't tried them, I highly recommend it.
hey man, awesome! I've had a pair for almost a full year now, and I've yet to replace the sleeves. I've been playing death metal up to 6 hours a day, and I have little to no wrist pain. They are a little heavier then most wood sticks though.
hey man ive just got into your vids and already subscribed, im actually a metal drummer and i have only just got into learning db and i must say these vids are awesome
I actually use all three of them: Heel up most of the time, heel down for Jazz and very low volume music in general and heel toe for double and triple strokes. It's usually best to practice all techniques and then use them whenever it's necessary to get the best results. Cheers Ydna
That's cool! It's important to check out many different styles. I will upload a new video tonight and it's all about double bass drumming and metal :-) (btw: your english is better than my french, I'm german..) Cheers Ydna
Thanx mate! I take it as a compliment but I'm not indian (neither native american nor from india), I'm from Germany and moved to Canada about 6 years ago :-) I think I shot that video in the summer and had a really nice tan, hahaha. Cheers Ydna
Had some problems switching from right left right, to left right left, its very hard! I have learned it the wrong way by only accenting with the right hand, but when used with the symbals it can only go as you displayed.. Thanks man!!
Yeah, you´re right. I could have easily fixed that by doing it again, but you know, I don´t wanna be perfect, being perfect is boring, isn´t it? Cheers Ydna
Sorry for the late reply! There is no sheet music but I think if you just try to copy what I'm doing you should be alright, I tried to play the exercises quite slow. Take care and have fun Ydna
Gruesse Ydna
Those are the aluminum ones, aren´t they? I would use them on a pad but not on real drums. You have to be careful with your wrists, they probably take a toll, metal is unforgiveable. I prefer wood.
