Merci pour toutes ces vidéos qui permettent de réparer tous les petits problèmes qu'on rencontre sur la alfa romeo GT.
Thank you very much for support...
This has troubled me from the beginning of owning a GT. Can't wait to get this fixed, I imagine it makes a big difference in the "feel" when you get into the car.
good job man !! you are helping me with every problem my car has !!! thanks
Thanks. No problem 👍
Bravo brate,hvala za ideju.
Nema na cemu, pozdrav...
Well done. Good fix. I really hate to have these door straps making noise. I replaced all straps completely. But more work and about €50 per strap to buy quality one.
Thanks, it drove me crazy ever since I bought the car, and it was an easy fix, and you're right, much cheaper...
excellent work man!
Thank you. Cheers...
Thanks for the video! i have the same problem on my 159, i spent hours to figure out what made that noise but with no success. thnaks again!
No problem, glad it helped...
Hi ARC garage. Do you selv these? I desperately need them 😊.
Best regards
Kasper
Of course.... so it is a design mistake, and basically reverting to the classic "Steel Split Spring Dowel Tension Roll Pin" type used in 164 among others would also work and probably be able to accomodate for wear for a long time. And if worn you just tap it out and put in a new one. Drilling to same size through both parts is mandatory though. Thanks a lot for this Video!
Agree, thank you for support...
Great video, great help, so the best to do is take of the pin and measured right? thx
Yes, thanks
Mine is clicking 1 year after I bought it new in 2008. It’s part of the character of the car now…
Can you say what was the exact reason why old bolt caused the clicking sound? Was the diameter smaller because of the wear or its height was grown by the top or bottom wear?
Thank you for the mech. videos! :)
You're welcome. Diameter got smaller due to the wear...
That is ingenius!
Thanks...
Nice video! I'm used to mine clicking for over 3 years now :D I thought it was the part inside the door.
Maybe you can share the exact dimensions of the new pin bolt so we can take them directly to our local machine shop?
Thanks!
Dimension might differ due to the extent of the wear. So it is best to measure the holes after you remove the pin...
Thanks for another informative video👍
No problem, thank you for support...
Can you please share the dimensions of the pin? I think it would be a great idea to have the pins premade before removing them from the car. Great video as always!
Problem is that dimensions might differ due to the wear, so each pin has to be measured separately...
Thankx a million mate.. been trying to fix the issue with a silicone lub and wd40 and had no idea it was the pin. I hope you are able to provide the dimensions of the new pin if you still hold that info.. Not sure how long to go on the threads if that makes a diference. Cheers mate and thanks again for the info.
No problem, thank you very much for support. When it comes to dimensions, the pins have to be measured separately, since the extent of wear is going to be different for each car, and even each door...
Excellent thank you - I have this issue - both doors on my newly acquired 2004 Alfa GT. I just need to find where to get replacement pins made.
You're welcome, make sure you measure both doors, since the wear might be different...
I like your videos, since they are showing the small annoying things that people ignore besides the bigger expensive stuff, as cam belt change and clutch replacement. Can you look into AC pipe and compressor replacement, or a complete AC delete?
Thanks, we might cover that in one of our future videos, the AC pipe and compressor replacement... Probably not the AC delete...
Could you plesa put them messuerments of this new machined nut & bolt pin in the description so we can order this from our location and country?
I would really appriciate this service!
Wow, so helpful, this is exactly my issue. My door has also dropped very slightly. Any idea how to adjust the door for the drop?
Check the condition of the door hinges. See if the pin on the hinge is worn out - try lifting and shaking the whole door, if there is a movement when lifting then the hinge is bad.
The other issue might be loosen bolts that hold the door to the body. You will have to lift the door in the correct position and tighten them. You'll probably have to also remove the fender since there is no easy acces to those bolts.
Hope that helps.
If the measurements are the same across these models, could you provide the ones which you used and worked?
Due to the different wear, the measurements are not going to be the same, even for different doors...
Nice explanation... Can you make a video, with some tuturial how to place the window in the correct position to the rubber to avoid the wind noise. There are some lack of information about that.
Great suggestion, I will do a video on that soon...
Could you drill through both parts and fit a bolt, with nylon washers??
Theoretically you could, but it wouldn't have a factory look...
Did you try drilling it, and did it stop the noise
Hi ARC Garage
I currently have 2002 Alfa Romeo 147 3 doors
I also have that clicking noise at the driver door, since I don't have a grinder and the option to grind the nut I want to replace it
Can you halp me with that?
Maybe with a video and a link to that Axle?
I recently did a video on Giulietta, is is pretty much the same
My drivers door makes that awful cracking noice. Thanks for the video.
No problem, glad to help...
Excellent informative and interesting grazie Mille ciao
This is an awesome solution for a very annoying problem. Can you share the dimensions of the pin you got made?
Thanks... You have to measure them on your car since the wear is different on every car, and even different doors...
Whats the inner diameter of the pin? Its 8mm stock with the sleeve. Di you enlargen it to ~9mm after? I gave to cnc and picked 8.75mm inner diameter
Not sure, it was a while ago...
@@arcgarage rjesia sam. Unutarnji dio je 8mm sa uloskom. Tokar mi je napravia na 8.75mm i navoj. Top je. Video me spasia!

What are the measurements of the new pin? btw I love your videos please never stop!
Thank you very much for support. You have to measure them on your car since the wear is going to be different...
Svaka čast, jos samo da nadjem ovu osovinu za 159 i da resim krckanje :-) ako imas servis napiši gde je.

Hi, thx again.
I have the same problème, Can you give me the link where you bought it, i Can t find it because i don t Know thé name in French. Thx very much
Hi, I had them custom made...
@@arcgarage you build it alone?
I got them from machinist...
Ima li kakvih zvukova nakon godinu dana?
Nema, sve super...
I got used to this sound on my 156, thinking it was normal. Now I’m shocked about how it actually should sound! Since I don’t have a guy/shop to make pins for me, I decided to look up the original part, which is 50503485, readily available at a decent price. Multiple owners have reported it’s an easy job to replace them. Looking forward to doors swinging in silence! 🙂
It it annoying, it will be a world of difference when you fit new ones

Thx. Can u get a load of these pins made up and sell them on the Alfa GT Facebook page
I'll look into it, although it might not be possible since the extent of the wear might be different on each car...
I would most certainly buy a set of pins, both my clicking doors are fixed with dental floss, please make then 🙏
riff maka wit some needle pliers
Dear sir, just to let you know that I followed your recipe and went to the local machinist for a new pin.
While I'm waiting for the pin, I have a question related to the issue. This mechanism, as far as I can see, is like a stopping mechanism. If we open the door to a certain degree, we'll call that the first level, the mechanism stops the door and keeps it open. If we open it a bit more, it stops on the second level. Last but not least, the door is fully open (the third level). Without it, the door opens and closes freely.
My question is - when replacing the old worn pin with the new one, will it work the same way? Will it work on the "levels" mentioned before?
P.S. For everyone wondering for the dimensions, I can only give you height which is 15mm + (at least) 5-10mm extra for the thread (washer + nut), that's total of 20-25 mm for the new pin. The head of the new pin should be around 17-18mm in diameter, it should use M6 thread (6mm thread diameter) and 10mm nut. Check each of the holes individually, depending on the wear, like ARC Garage said.
Top tip - use medium-strength thread locker (I will use Loctite) on the thread to stop the nut from unscrewing. And of course, use grease.
The "levels" will stay the same, the part in charge of that is located on the other side inside the door...
Mine is making me go crazy on both doors. It seems to be a common problem so why is it so hard to find this part
I had these pins made...
@@arcgarage You should get a load made and sell them. I'd be your 1st customer lol. Thank you for the videos they have been amazing!
@@arcgarage When i pulled mine apart, it did not look worn, im guessing it was just the inner bush and the plastic washers. Im not sure what country your from, but for me to get one machined would cost more than buying the whole mechanism. how much did it cost you to get them machined.
Perfekt
It's so funny cause you know it's FIAT, our 2002 Fiat Ducato had the same issue. :D
I have used dental floss to the upper and down side on this joint and 5 months now my doors are noise free.
That is a great idea...
Hi very very Helpful video, i just wanna know where have you found the nuw pin please ? Thnx 👍
I removed the old pin and I took the car to the machinist. He took the height measurements of the old pin and he measured both holes on each side. Based on those measurements he machined a new pin...
@@arcgarage ok thanx
No problem...
@@arcgarage by the way can you hear thins cnocking sound and tell me what you think is? :

Is it only when you press the clutch?
Hello!Where can I buy this pine?😮
I got mine made by local machinist...
ARC Garage where are you located? You have something in Northamptonshire?Tks
Sadly no, you have to search locally online...
I'd love to find a machinist that can do jobs at 10 eur
Good machinist is worth his weight in gold...
