Dope! MS-1 is really cool because you can apply the different sample rates in real time (so it’s like the sound of the SP202 without having to sample onto the sampler). I love the sound of this Gemini sampler!
@@phdirac legend has it, that it has a clone ssm2044 (original chip in 12bit 26khz in emu sp1200) but with filters off but clock at 12bit 33khz instead of 26 in gemini
I have my original MS1 as well have to dig it out packed up still works like new plus have the 64sec memory card and paid almost as much as base unit at the time.
Having 4 of these setup together would cool. I'm not sure if they have midi or not, though. Besides that, this is a crazy sample. It sounds like a Dilla or Madlib type sample. I could hear Doom on that. I almost feel like the sample was used by Doom, but I'm not up on every Doom track.
Man back in the days, this was my sh!^... I used to lay my track on the Reel To Reel with one of these like it was a SP1200, chopping samples in real time...🤯🥳🤯
Thanks! Yeah, it sounds really good. It’s on the front end of my signal chain, between the turntable and the mixer. I’m mainly using it for making drum kits but I’ve also made a few beats using it (sample into the Gemini, then make the beat in the MPC).
@@phdirac I just picked one up and spent a good amount of time decoding what any of the labels mean. Robo Play on/lit mutes the incoming selected source (phone/line or line) when a sample is playing. Robo Play off/unlit means it allows you to trigger samples without interrupting the selected input source. The CUE MODE toggle that says MIXER is connected to the PHONES IN 1/4" (shouldda called it AUX IN) anyone struggling to get the pan to work- it only works on the OUTPUT RCA jacks the SAMPLER LEVEL fader controls the level of the RCA output but not the cue. This actually makes sense but (should have been called MASTER LEVEL) the CUE SAMPLER knob controls the headphone level. (Why not just "CUE") Be fucking careful and don't turn up the CUE SAMPLER knob just because you cant hear anything and the go flipping switches. Shit gets real. Fast. Smooth chops btw, that was dope. Subbed.
I bought one of these in the early early '90s.....thought I was one of the dopest bedroom producers ever.
this what lil grimm from children of the corn/graveyard productions used in the 90s. dope
and shawty pimp!
yup
Exactly what I was thinking
The secret is getting out!
LMAO I THINK IM BOUT TO GET ONE DIRT CHEAP
Unlike every other 12bits samplers this one has no filter on the output so it keeps all the highs and the harmonics. Unique
Yup. Sample whatever I to it and then sample into your mpc or other sampler. Amazing 12 bit goodness.
That’s been the modus operandi so far!
Whoa...it sounds really cool...somehow both high quality and lofi at the same time😮
Yeah, such a unique texture (especially with the pitch function)!! I’ve mainly been using it for drums so far.
@@phdirac so cool!!!
With its limitations it made me so creative
12bit always gonnbe dope as hell! I remember i had that Roland MS-1. I was amazed at how good that shit sounded lol

Thank you!

sounds so crunchy, but the sound doesn't degrade. nice find! how you gonna use it?

@@phdirac love it. can't wait to hear your new experiments
Got two rack versions and two desktop units. These things are killer.
got one of these for my dr-660!
i have one somewhere in my closet collecting dust.
Whoa!! That’s a diamond in the rough, hope that it’ll get some use soon.
I'll buy it
So does just blaze
Such a dope sound this gives
Definitely fam!! I’ve been experimenting with it as the initial sampling medium before producing in the MPC. Gotta upload some of the beats soon.
What did you sample exactly, what was that first record? Crazy!
mf doom used that sample
Both of those samples came from the Eugene McDaniels Headless Heros of the Apocalypse album.

😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 I a 10 second version back in the 90's with a rack sequencer 😊😊
Use this on my drums sometimes, secret sauce
the mixer version tho
Drums sound great going through this sampler, I've been using it that way too!
2x Gemini DS-1224 peace djfreecan love video i used 4x at my old nite club

Yo. I had one of these in high school 😂
Sounds nice. Always wanted to hear this 12 bit sampler in action. Was hoping you'd press that robo button, but maybe next time. 👍
Yeah it sounds cool! I’m not even sure what robo play does yet, it’ll be cool to learn. Thanks!
