  • Tool Time - Quality Chinese Lathe Overview
This is a quick video to capture for posterity the really nice Chinese lathe that we acquired with the Precision Machining Workshop batch of gear recently. Dad has spent some time cleaning and checking through, and this showed its class very quickly. The machine is solid, and mounted on a heavy cast iron base, certainly much better than the cheaper end of the market we are used to seeing!
    Thanks for watching

Very much so! Next one will be a complete refresh on a Unimat 3 lathe and mill combo, including retrofitting CNC capability to the lathe! If you haven’t yet seen it, check out my AL960B playlist!

    It looks bloody nice!
If i hadn't picked up a hercus 9 i would have taken it i reckon! The hercus is a bit worn (but I've not looked at it closely yet) and I've no charts for metric/imperial gearing, though I do have both gear sets.
Nice machine anyway, good score for someone!!

Looks similar to a Taiwanese lathe I used to have.

I have an older version of this CO630 Lathe from built in 1981, I can't get the change gear off the lathe to change it from the 127 tooth to a different one, I tried a gear puller, tapping with a hammer, put some heat on it. Nothing seems to work. Anyone know if there is a trick to it? The other gears came off fine. Thank you

That’s a great question, will need to check out the documents, but it wasn’t from “the usual suspects”

Not for my money. Lathe chuck bolts are just a cheap mini lathe sales gimmick.
