I just want to say thank you. This past year has been tough on my family and I, and the calming practice of Bonsai and your wonderful collection of videos have pulled me out of a very deep depression into a hobby I will take with me for the rest of my life. Truly, thank you for all you do.

Same story brother. Lost my mom after years of painful illness. Planted a tree on her grave and the graveyard trust uprooted it saying tree plantation not allowed in graveyard. I brought that plant home. Planted it around the house and the area/location supervisor didn't allowed to plant it there either. So I bought I home and pruned it and planted it in pot. There it started my bonsai journey.

Beautiful to see, but really puts me in perspective....I've been trying to learn Bonsai for about 15 years, and out of the 16 trees I have, none can be called bonsai. Its sort of like looking at Ferrari's...gorgeous to look at, but your Chevy will never be one.....
Spring here ( southwestern VA ) for my trees is a very different thing. We go from 20's a few nights ago, to 80's during the day. Very stressful. I even bought a Japanese Maple from another fairly well known TH-camr's nursery, that just never woke up. I guess at some point, I'll have to admit, there are some people who shouldn't have the life of these gorgeous trees in their hands....
Thanks for the walk through....its always a pleasure to see such great art...

It's lovely when the garden starts to really wake up again. Flowers are out and new leaves are just appearing here in Dublin. It's invigorating.

Thank you very much foe the tour.
Thank you very much for your teaching and wisdom imparted.
Was cool to see the tree i watched get styled yesterday, shown a year after.
Yesterday i did my first serious attempt at air rooting for my dad.
I am proud of where you are and the recognition you have received. Watching your 2017 exhibition demo, and besides the stress of time constraints (which you demonstrated handling very well and i would not have noticed, if i did not study body language) seeing you being proud of yourself for receiving honor, brought a tear to my eye.
Forever grateful as a student, Namaskar 🙏

Love those opening shots of the backlit, deciduous trees in afternoon light! Thanks for the walkthrough. I'm glad to hear that you're making plans to open up to the public soon.
I'm inspired to try my hand at Japanese maples. Your clump, at that larger client's tree are stunning in leaf. I've seen them on Maui growing at higher elevations, but I've heard of people growing them in their collections at lower elevations.

Being a ceramics nerd, I gotta say, the Chinese pot at (2:00) does not have a patina, it's glazed. A patina in ceramics is usually a thin wash of an oxide, like iron oxide. The color variation in the glaze comes from an effect called "breaking" where the glaze either thins out and expresses color in a different way or dissolves some of the iron in the clay underneath to form variations in color. Still quite pretty though. Looking at it, I'd guess its a hi-calcium, hi-magnesium glaze with some iron in it on top of a dark, iron rich clay body.
As far as bonsai goes though, Bjorn is a master, and I've learned a ton about trees from him. I love his in depth explanations about tree anatomy and how they grow, and used this knowledge to greatly improve my own trees!

Thank you for this walk through! Today in Ohio it was 80 degrees and I am so happy! All my tropicals went outside today and they are all happy too! That tree from the 4 corners, omg! I wasn't into bonsai when I lived in Durango, it was my favorite place I've ever lived. I sure hope to be able to visit your nursary when you reopen, working on a vintage camper so I can get out and travel and hunt crystals (and trees?)

That massive one seed juniper is a crown jewel of your nursery. Trained by mother nature herself.
I wonder do you have to treat the deadwood since it has been introduced to a more humid climate?

    Question, please:
I'd love to know why majority of all bonsai have very small amount of "dirt" to live in, etc. I find that amazing. Gorgeous bonsais! Thank you.
    ♥️ 💗

    • @landonbruiseynguyen
      @landonbruiseynguyen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Bonsai literally means tree and pot. The trees are trained to live in small pots and so the root spread on these trees are intentionally kept small to fit in the pots. However, the roots are also trained to be more efficient is such a limited space to maintain the health of the tree. 😀
